After sending his message, Flynn turned over and fell asleep.
He fell asleep in a second, but the city of Niarak was turned upside down.
Six pieces of news shook the land of Niarak.
First, Braiden, the future leader of the Swanson’s Group, was tragically killed at the summit of Cloudgate Mountain.
Second, the God of War, Cruz, accompanied by the Heavenly King of the Nation, Yves Yancey, arrived in Niarak that day and annihilated the Eight Extremities School’s Niarak branch. Maximo, seven Grandmasters, and the representatives of seven powers all perished, nearly a thousand experts turned into a mist of blood.
Third, the Eight Extremities School suffered heavy losses. The senior leaders held an overnight meeting and dispatched six Grandmasters from headquarters to fill vacancies in the city branches. The position of head of the Niarak branch was taken by Kendal Roy, who had been in the Alwood Mountains earlier that night and was now on her way to Niarak with five sister disciples.
Fourth, the head of the Eight Extremities School, Chen Jinnan, advanced to the peak of Great Grandmaster. He would emerge from retreat in five days and had ordered Kendal Roy to invite Cruz and General Yancey the next day to appease their anger.
Fifth, Layla secured an investment of ten billion dollars, and a confrontation with the Sharp’s Group was imminent.
Sixth, Lysander King Zion was coming to Niarak the day after tomorrow to recognize his daughter, and Harriet Hamilton was to marry Stellan Wallace, the prodigy of the Wallace family and a Great Grandmaster, in a fortnight.
Each piece of news was explosive, drawing countless eyes to the small city of Niarak.
The events that were about to unfold were naturally full of anticipation, but the topic most discussed tonight was the tragedy at Cloudgate Mountain.
With the Heavenly King of the Nation roaming Niarak, it was as if the emperor himself had come on a southern tour.
The awe of his formidable divine might, capable of annihilating a thousand men alone, shook the heavens.
His esteemed status was revered, as noble as the sun in the sky, his majesty unbearable to look directly at.
Everyone looked forward to seeing his true face, to witness his unparalleled demeanor.
Men admired, women adored.
Among them was Madeline, but she had no time to think about this, as Matteo Kaur was ill!
Before Flynn went to Cloudgate Mountain, the Kaur family locked Matteo Kaur in the bathroom to stop him.
Worried about Flynn and after shouting too much, Matteo Kaur felt a pang in his heart after being released and almost fainted.
He had taken the Ancient Formula Returning Heart Pill produced by Lilia Company, but his body had not fully recovered.
Today, after a great shock, his heart was troubled again.
Fortunately, he was in the hospital where the doctors treated him promptly, and his condition gradually stabilized.
Although the Kaur family relatives kept apologizing verbally, they all hoped for Matteo Kaur’s death.
If Matteo Kaur died, he would no longer interfere with Madeline’s marriage.
But Matteo Kaur survived, much to everyone’s displeasure.
Madeline was terribly frightened, not expecting her father to nearly die after she went to Cloudgate Mountain.
“It’s all because of that bastard Flynn, he deserves to die!”
“Matteo Kaur, look at the mess that idiot has caused in the last two months, has he ever brought a moment’s peace?”
“It’s time for Madeline to divorce him, otherwise that waste will kill us all eventually!”
Paulina Johnston’s face was bandaged, but she didn’t stop cursing.
She also used this incident to test Matteo Kaur, hoping he would agree to her suggestion.
However, Matteo Kaur just waved his hand, his face pale as he said, “We can’t blame Flynn entirely for this, Maximo kidnapped Scarlet and Ms. Sharp, and Flynn, as their friend and subordinate, ought to have sought revenge.”
“That shows Flynn is loyal and righteous, but his actions were too reckless.”
“The kid should be asleep now, let’s not call him.”
“After I get better, I’ll call and talk to him.”
Upon hearing this, Paulina Johnston rolled her eyes and her mouth twitched upward.
She had hoped to persuade Matteo Kaur with this incident, but he was still not giving in.
He even changed how he addressed Flynn!
The most infuriating part, Matteo Kaur got sick because of Flynn, and instead of calling to reprimand him, he was worried about disturbing Flynn’s rest!
Thinking this, Paulina Johnston felt her anger surge and her skin itch more intensely.
Her stomach also began to ache.
“That damn good-for-nothing is lucky, if it weren’t for General Yancey happening to trouble Maximo today, he would surely be dead!”
“Oh, why couldn’t General Yancey have delayed his visit until after Flynn was dead!” Paulina Johnston grumbled, rubbing her stomach.
“What nonsense are you talking!” Matteo Kaur glared at Paulina Johnston and said, “If Flynn is a damn good-for-nothing, what does that make Madeline? If you dare curse Flynn again, don’t blame me for turning against you!”
Paulina Johnston saw Matteo Kaur in a rage and lay down on the hospital bed, muttering:
“This wretched hospital is so annoying. I’ve been feeling sick all day from the food here, and this bedding-did they even wash it? I’m itching all over!”
“Madeline, check me out of here at dawn. We’ll go home where I can recuperate in peace, not suffer here!”
Seeing her mother’s skin turn yellow and her weary expression, Madeline expressed her concern, “Mom, maybe I should ask the doctor to examine you.”
“What for? It’s just Flynn, that useless fool, who’s got me so upset. Let’s try to get some sleep now and handle the discharge in the morning!” Paulina Johnston said irritably, turning over and covering her head with the blanket.
Madeline sighed and fell silent.
She was dizzy with anger after hearing about Flynn’s challenge to Maximo.
Her mother was notoriously short-tempered and couldn’t tolerate much.
Moreover, after being beaten by Simone Watson, she was physically weak.
It was normal for her to experience stomach pains.
As for the itchy skin, it was probably due to the cool weather and dry air.
Madeline didn’t think much of it; her focus was on her business.
Corbin Calder and his group would soon return to Niarak, and the Kaur family was poised to soar with the aid of three new contracts.
Madeline was confident about the future.
But little did the mother and daughter know, all of Paulina Johnston’s symptoms were caused by a liver tumor.
Given her current condition, she would deteriorate within a week, and by then, only someone like Mr. Price could save her!
…
The Powell family.
A coffin rested in the hall.
Frederick Powell wore mourning clothes.
Maximo, who had no children and dedicated his life to the Eight Extremities School, decided to leave his estate to Frederick Powell a hundred years after Mr. Powell’s death because of their close relationship.
It was only right for Frederick Powell to manage Maximo’s final affairs.
But Maximo had been obliterated by Flynn, leaving no remains, a fate worse than having one’s bones crushed and scattered.
After the National Security Bureau had processed the scene, Frederick found not even a hair when he went to collect the body.
He had no choice but to fill the coffin with Maximo’s clothes and erect a monument in his honor.
“Young master, Mr. Goff has passed away; please, accept it and move on,” pleaded the old servant of the Powell family, wiping away his tears and bowing.
In just one month, the Powell family had faced two tragedies, a truly lamentable decline.
The family that once dominated Niarak with the power of the Eight Extremities School was now nothing more than a fading memory.
The old servant was deeply saddened.
He had witnessed the glory of the Powell family, a time when even Orion Kennedy stepped aside.
In Niarak, no one dared disrespect the Powell family, and the old servant enjoyed the respect and privileges that came with his position.
It could be said that even the Powell family’s dogs were given right of way on the streets.
Now, everything had changed.
The once busy Powell household was now deserted. Three hours after Maximo’s death was announced, Frederick Powell hadn’t received a single condolence call.
His heart was shattered.
He couldn’t understand what had gone wrong.
“Young master, Mr. Goff and your father left behind an estate worth over two billion dollars, enough to secure your future. You must persevere!” the old servant urged, helping him to his feet.
“Get out!” Frederick Powell forcefully slapped the servant’s hand away and yelled, “Flynn has ruined me, left me disabled for life.”
“Now my father is dead, my godfather is dead, and that bastard Flynn is still living it up. I can’t accept this, I just can’t!”
The old servant sighed mournfully, “What’s the use of not accepting it? Flynn is a Grandmaster!”
“Now no one can help us!”
“No one?” Frederick Powell wiped his tears with his sleeve, squinted his eyes fiercely, and said, “Once I’ve managed the funeral affairs for my godfather, I’ll use these two billion dollars as a bounty. I don’t believe I can’t find a Great Grandmaster!”
“Flynn, I want you dead! You must die!”
