It was well known that Candace was not only the head of the Nance family but also the most beautiful woman in Middleton. If Spencer Sterling could win her over, his status in the Sterling family would surely soar. However, Candace coolly responded, “Sorry, I’m not available!” She had little interest in dealing with someone like Spencer Sterling, a notorious wastrel.
Despite Spencer being from a noble family, the Nance family was also a powerful household, although slightly less prestigious than noble families, yet not so weak as to be bullied. I didn’t expect to find you here in Middleton.”
“Maybe we could go for a meal?” Chris suggested. Having been childhood friends, their relationship had become somewhat awkward after a recent incident. Candace shook her head, “No, you should spend time with your wife.”
With that, Candace turned and walked away. Watching her leave, Chris Shelby sighed deeply, realizing their relationship could never return to how it once was. Meanwhile, Lindsay also received a phone call. After greeting Chris and Esther, she left as well.
Esther, noticing Chris’s distraction, said with irritation, “Seems you’re still a bit lost when it comes to old flames, huh?” Chris rolled his eyes, “Dear, what are you talking about? Meanwhile, after driving away, Spencer Sterling went straight to a bar. There, he encountered Lysander Frost, who had returned to Middleton from the East Coast a day or two ago.
Lysander, still nursing a slightly swollen cheek from being slapped repeatedly by Chris Shelby, was in no mood for company and drinking alone. Spotting him, Spencer greeted cheerfully, “Lysander Frost, long time no see!” Lysander replied gruffly, “Spencer Sterling, if you’ve got something to say, say it. I’m not in a good mood today.”
“Heh heh!” Spencer Sterling chuckled lightly. “Lysander Frost, I heard you went to the East Coast recently and seemed to have encountered some unpleasant things. Is that true?”
Upon hearing this, Lysander Frost’s face immediately darkened.
“Spencer Sterling, what do you mean by that? Are you here to mock me?” Lysander challenged.
Spencer smiled and replied, “Lysander Frost, you misunderstand. I’m not here to mock you. I just wanted to ask if you know someone named Chris Shelby?”
“Chris Shelby?” Lysander’s expression changed at the mention of the name.
Grinding his teeth, he said, “Spencer Sterling, how do you know this person?”
Seeing Lysander’s reaction, Spencer knew immediately that everything Chris Shelby had said was true. Indeed, Lysander Frost had a feud with Chris Shelby!
With a stern face, Spencer said, “Today, as I was driving, I suddenly hit another car. The man who came out was named Chris Shelby. He slapped me several times, and he said he knew you, that he had fought with you on the East Coast, so I came to ask.”
“What? Chris Shelby is in Middleton now!” Lysander’s face showed a mix of shock and joy.
