Nova’s POV
I stood up to my feet, I held the tiny bottle in both hands, rubbing my thumb on the lid.
“He’s going to kill me tomorrow. Tomorrow will be my last day.” tears streamed down my cheeks as I gripped the lid and opened the bottle.
“Tomorrow I’m going to die without seeing Prescott or my family for the last time.” I sobbed, tears streamed down my face and I didn’t bother to wipe my face.
I moved the bottle to my nose, I sniffed the content but it was odourless. I gulped down nervously before moving the bottle to my mouth.
“He said he would get rid of me tomorrow, it can’t be possible that he gave me poison to drink, right?” I breathed out, the fear of drinking poison weighed me down, but if he was to poison me he would have done it by himself.
I parted my lips and poured the whole content into my mouth, I didn’t feel anything at first, so I gulped it down my throat.
My throat hurt like hell, it was as if the content was tearing my throat apart. I held my neck, hitching the flesh on my neck, throwing the bottle to one side.
“Ahhh!” I cried out, my head ached and my breath hitched as I tried to scratch my neck, just then, it was like I was seeing for the first time, it started with a blurry vision until I could see everything clearly.
“Oh my goodness!” I fell on my butt, my gaze moving around the empty room. “I can finally see.” tears rolled down my eyes as I moved my gaze to my body, staring at the ball gown I wore to the banquet.
I was looking tattered, the dress was so dirty that anyone would mistake it for a rag. My gaze landed on my legs and I shut my eyes when my eyes landed on the spot on my leg that was missing a toe.
“Ahh!” I whimpered, wrapping my arms around my knees.
I had never thought a day would come when I would wake up to see one of my toes missing. I was still lost in my thoughts that I didn’t hear the door opening and someone entering the room.
“Your Majesty.” someone whispered to my ear, I hissed, and turned around to see a guy standing beside me with fear in his eyes.
“Who are you?” I moved away from him, smuggling into the wall to escape him.
I was contemplating fighting him with my last breath until I watched him go on one knee while stretching his palm for me to take.
“I’m here to take you to the Villa, his Majesty sent me here, my name is Dixon, and I’m one of the warriors, his Majesty sent me here to take you,” he explained, he hastily glanced at the door before moving his gaze back to me.
At the mention of His Majesty, I quickly jumped to my feet, and my palms went to my mouth, trying to stop myself from screaming out my lungs.
“His Majesty knows where I am?” my eyes widened in shock, but the guy shook his head instead.
“He doesn’t know, but I promised His Majesty I would be returning you to the Villa safe and sound. Please let me have your hand, Your Highness.”
‘Your Highness’, hearing someone call me that after being at the rogues’ abode for a couple of days felt strange. I held my dress before moving a little closer to the guy.
I didn’t trust him, but I would give anything to go back to the Villa, where I would be with his Majesty.
“How’s Prescott doing? Is he doing all right?” I gulped down nothing, my heart was thumping hard against my chest as I stopped right in front of the guy before placing my palm on his.
“His Majesty is far from being doing all right. Please save the questions for later and let’s get out of here.” he gripped my palm and stood up from the floor.
I nodded my head, giving him the approval to lead me out of the room that gave me nightmares. The guy wrapped his hand around my wrist. He pushed me to his back before walking towards the exit.
“How do you find me?” I whispered, my heart was racing fearfully in my chest as the guy gripped the doorknob and opened the door.
“Please be quiet, your Highness,” he whispered back, pulling me with him as we walked out of the room.
Walking in the long hallway that was as empty as a dead ground, I gulped down the lump that formed in my throat as I quietly trailed behind him.
We had barely walked a few steps away from the room when we saw a guy approaching, he held a tray that was covered with a piece of clothing. I hid behind the guy who claimed his name was Dixon, his large back covered my whole existence as the guy stopped right in front of us.
He seemed to have recognized Dixon because he let out a happy laugh.
“Warrior Dixon, what brought you here?” the guy asked, I felt my hand clenched into a tight fist as I wondered what their relationship was and how they got to know each other.
“Where’s Elder Bighana?” Dixon asked, tightening his grip on my wrist.
“He just left, and he asked me to bring some food to her Highness.” the guy replied, it was only then that I could perceive the aroma that was radiating from the tray in his hands.
“Take the food back, I’m sure she won’t be eating it. She’s going to die anyways, why would she want to eat.” my heart clenched as I heard Dixon let out a burst of evil laughter.
He was one of them, he didn’t come to save me. He worked for them. I yanked my hand from his grip, moving away from him.
“Y-You lied that you came to save me, didn’t you?” I cried out, tears rolled down my eyes as I watched Dixon and the guy turned towards me.
“Warrior Dixon, what is she doing here with you?” the guy barked, he tossed the tray away, charging at me while glaring at me.
“Fuck! I hate to do this.” Dixon hissed, and a light speed, he bounced on the guy and they both hit the ground.
“Warrior…”
The guy was trying to say something but the sounds of bone snapping were what I could hear next. Dixon got off the guy, his hands were tinted with blood as he took a dangerous step at me.
I tried moving away from him, but he grabbed my wrist pulling me to his body. I bumped into his chest, I could hear his heart beating crazily in his chest.
“I’m here to save you for real, please don’t make this hard for me.” he groaned, grabbed my shoulders and forced me to stare at him.
“But… you just…”
“Do you want to ask questions or do you want to get out of here alive?” he barked at me, fangs were emerging from his mouth and I gulped down nervously.
I looked down at my barefoot, the thought of spending the night at the rogues’ abode scared the living daylight out of me. “I want to go back to the villa,” I mumbled, my lips pouted as tears welled up in my eyes.
“Good.” he heaved a sigh, wrapping his fingers around my wrist, “please stop asking questions and let’s get out of here.”
I nodded, my heart was unbelievably calm as I stared at him, somehow I felt like he would succeed in protecting me.
We began to walk away from the scene, leaving the guy there on the floor. There was a door at the end of the hallway and we were aiming for the door when we heard a footstep from behind, with a familiar scent filling the air.
“And where do you two think you’re going?” the only voice I had been hearing for days howled behind us, and I could feel my heart stopped beating as I felt Dixon let go of my hand.
“Eruba!”
