Rezso’s POV
My eyes fluttered open, my lids heavy from sleep. I blinked my lashes a few times, trying to focus on my surroundings. My body felt stiff and achy like I’d been lying in the same position for hours. I slowly sat up, stretching my arms over my head and arching my back. A yawn escaped my mouth as I looked around the room, still half-asleep and disoriented.
White walls, walk-in closet, white sheet, hand-carved bed, and… That scents?
“Oh, Dixon!” I yawned, moving my face to the bed to check for him, but he wasn’t there.
“Oh, heavens!” I exclaimed, getting off the bed, and searching every corner of the room for him, but he was nowhere in sight.
He must have left! Dixon must have left me alone in his apartment!
“What was he thinking, leaving a complete stranger in his apartment?” I exclaimed, my voice rising in disbelief. “That’s so irresponsible! What if I’d been a thief or something worse?” I ranted, shaking my head in exasperation.
‘Stranger? No one fuck a stranger thrice in a row and still tells them they love them!’ my subconscious yelled at me, I hissed at the silly being in my head, and my eyes darted to the floor, looking for my dress but I couldn’t find them.
“Don’t tell me Dixon leave the apartment with my dress?” I groaned, my legs shook terribly as I dropped my legs to the bed.
The result of having him shoved his beast bastard of a cock inside my tiny hole twice in less than twenty hours.
I stood still with my hands on both sides of my waists, my eyes moving around his room, checking how everything was neatly placed making a shy smile creep up my face.
“Wow, he really is a neat freak,” I laughed, limping towards the closet with a slight wince. My body ached all over, but I couldn’t deny the thrill I felt.
I got to the closet, and was about to fling it open when my gaze shifted to his dresser, a pair of blue jeans and black Tee was neatly folded on the table.
“Huh? Replacing my guard uniform with that? Is he messing with me?” I smirked, dragging my legs toward the table with a smile on my face.
I got to the table and sat my tired ass on the seat before grabbing the dress. A piece of paper fell from the jeans and I picked it up from the ground.
I unfolded the note, my hands trembling as I read the words scrawled across the page. “Wear this,” I whispered to myself. My face flushed as I continued reading. “I’ll return your uniform next time we do it,” I mumbled, my heart racing as I continued reading the letter that was written in fine handwriting.
“Don’t wait for me – I’ll probably must have left the Villa by the time you wake up. Love you.”
“He’s so sweet!” I whined, gripped the paper to my chest and made a happy giggle.
I was still gushing over his letter when my mind drifted off to earlier, how he had reacted after I mentioned his tattoo made me let out a drag of air.
“What’s his deal with that tattoo anyway? It can’t be that it was his ex’s wolf?” I rolled my eyes and the possibility that the tattoo might be one of his exes’ wolves made my inside churn with jealousy.
“Whatever!” I waved a hand in the air, dismissing whatever thought I had about his ex. “If he can react that way over the title, then he might despise the ex, yeah?”
I placed the paper on the table and grabbed the Tee that seemed to be the extra size. “There’s no way Dixon picked this for me!” I exclaimed, the shirt fell to the floor and I propped my elbows on the table, glaring at the shirt like it was some enemy of mine.
“I’m definitely not going to wear this.” I shook my head, stood up and dragged my feet towards the closet, after shuffling through the closet, I strolled back to the table, feeling defeated.
“Guess I’ll be going for this then.” I groaned, my back leaned forward and I picked up the shirt that seemed to be the smallest among his shirts.
After sliding into the dress, I picked up the paper and shoved it in my jeans picked, I wanted to leave a note for him, but after realizing he would come find me if I didn’t leave any note, I decided to leave without leaving any.
Getting outside, I was a little bit surprised to see that it was already dark out. Never knew I had been sleeping for that long.
“Some certain people intentionally wear me out before allowing me to get a decent sleep. Such a man!” I shook my head before turning towards the direction of the building where I was living with some other guards.
I was about to take the path that leads to the guards’ building when I remembered my encounter with Shayna that morning, and how she talked me into asking His Majesty on her behalf if her highness is okay.
“Let just go try my luck, who knows, his Majesty might tell me about Her Highness if he hears that the message was from Her Highness’ maid.” I gulped, my head was a bit light as I sped towards the royal office building.
I took a deep breath as I entered the building. The guards let me into the King’s floor when I told them I had a message for the king.
I got to His Majesty’s office placed a light knock on the door and waited for the reply, when I didn’t get any reply, I placed another knock on the door. I grabbed the doorknob and pushed the door open when I didn’t get any reply from the inside.
“Wow, his Majesty is not here,” I uttered, my eyes were scanning the room, hoping I’d caught sight of his Majesty but it was obvious, his Majesty was definitely not in his office.
I made to leave when my mind flashed back to the time I stumbled upon Dixon, right there at His Majesty’s office. It was exactly like that night when I had come to deliver Her Highness’s message to His Majesty when I met with the emptiness of the office. Dixon had entered the office before I would make my way out of the office.
Just right there, I had my first chat with Dixon, the champion of the warrior and the best warrior in the nation.
A smile tugged at my lips as I recalled that beautiful moment in my life. My heart beat loudly against my chest as I dreamingly moved my gaze to His Majesty’s office table. My eyes landed on a bunch of files that were littered on the floor.
“Fuck! I can’t just leave it like that.” I bit my lip, my legs subconsciously moved towards the table before I could stop myself.
I knelt beside the table and packed the files up, stealing glances at the files as I arranged them neatly on the table.
“All done!” I let out, slapping my hands together with a satisfied grin. “Job well done!” I congratulated myself, giving a little mental pat on the back for being a good subordinate.
I turned to leave, but something on the floor caught my eye. A file, lying in the corner of the room. I must have missed it when I was putting the others away. I walked over to it, curiosity driving me to pick it up.
I reached for the file, my trembling fingers grasping the edge. As I opened it, a piece of paper slipped out and fluttered to the floor. I knew I shouldn’t, but I couldn’t help myself – I had to see what was on the paper. I bent down and picked it up, my heart racing as I looked at the sketch. It was of a blue wolf, the same one that was tattooed on Dixon’s back.
“Is this a coincidence or is it the same wolf?” I gasped, and my palm went to my chest to calm my racing heart.
“Who are you?” a cold, gruff voice demanded.
I froze, the blood draining from my face as I realized I was in the presence of the royal beta. I turned slowly, my eyes wide with terror, and there he was – standing over me, his expression stony and his hands buried deep in his pockets.
“Greetings, royal Beta!” I sprang to my feet, my heart racing as I hastily greeted the beta. My eyes darted to the drawing on the floor, and I realized too late that I’d betrayed my curiosity. Wharton followed my gaze and reached down to grab the drawing, lifting it for inspection.
“This!” he hissed, dragging his feet towards the seat and plunged into it. “Do you… No! Have you seen this before?” he asked, twirling the seat from left to right as he glared at me while waving the paper in the air.
“I…” I gulped, biting my lips as I remembered what Dixon told me earlier.
‘Please don’t mention it to anyone in this Villa.’
His words echoed in my mind, like a mantra I couldn’t escape. He didn’t explain why I should keep quiet about it, but I felt compelled to trust him. I had to act like I knew nothing, even though my curiosity burned within me.
“No. I haven’t seen a sketch this beautiful before.” I smiled, trying my best not to make it obvious that I just lied to the royal Beta.
“Good!” Beta Wharton nodded his head, he folded the paper and tossed it to the table.
“Do you know what that is?” he asked, crossing his legs on the table as he glared at me from the corner of his eyes.
Heavens! For the second time that day, someone was asking me about the wolf drawing. I felt like I was in some kind of bizarre, surreal nightmare. A drawing I’d only seen twice was suddenly the centre of everyone’s attention, and I had no idea why.
“No! I don’t know what that drawing is.” I blurted out truthfully. I was already getting curious to know what the wolf was and I didn’t know when I asked, “Please, what’s that drawing for?”
“You see, this wolf is causing me a nightmare that I wouldn’t mind gathering the werewolves and having a heart-to-heart conversation with them, just to get this cursed wolf off my mind.” Beta Wharton uttered amidst gritted teeth.
I couldn’t do anything but gulped down nervously since I didn’t know how to reply to what he had just said.
“Sit down,” he ordered, his voice taking on a commanding tone. He swung his legs off the table, his eyes never leaving mine. “You’re going to listen to me and I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about this wolf.” His words were firm, brooking no argument.
