Prescott’s POV
“Ladies and gents, distinguished guests, esteemed dignitaries,” I began, my voice clear and resonant, “I welcome you to this evening’s banquet, and thank you for joining us. It is a pleasure to have you all here.” My words rang out across the room, filling the air with a sense of occurrence and spree.
The guests howled, I paused for a moment, allowing the howls of the two species to wither in before continuing.
“On behalf of the royal family and the people of Wildfang, I would like to thank you for joining us tonight. This banquet is a celebration of our shared history and a testament to our bright future. We have overcome great challenges and achieved much in our time, and I look forward to what lies ahead for us all. Now, let us enjoy this evening together, and raise a toast to friendship, prosperity, and peace of our nation.” As I concluded my speech, the room erupted in cheers, and the music playing in the background was what made the cheers sink in.
I turned away from the guest, staring at Nova who had her eyes fixed on me with a proud smile lingering on her face.
“May I have the honour of this dance, my dear queen?” I asked, bowing slightly and extending my hand.
Nova’s eyes lit up with delight, and she slowly placed her hand in mine. “Yes, your Majesty!”
A smile spread on my lips as I pulled her close, I guarded her to the dance floor and spun her to stare at me. Our eyes met, I smiled, grabbed her hands and placed them on my shoulders before wrapping my hands around her waist.
“You’re so beautiful, dear wife!” I whispered, Nova’s cheeks heated up as she let out a soft smile.
“And you are stunning, my dear husband,” she retorted, her voice full of admiration and love. “I’m sorry I didn’t say it sooner; I was lost in the wonder of being with you.” She smiled, hands moved slowly from my shoulders, trailing softly across my skin until they reached my neck. She gently pulled my face towards hers, and our lips met in a tender kiss.
We continued to dance with our lips still locked in a tender kiss, our movements effortless and graceful. The crowd seemed to fade away, and all that was left was the two of us, locked in a moment of perfect happiness. We were lost in our world, and it felt like time itself had stopped.
As Nova pulled away, her bottle-green eyes glittered as she stared lovingly at me. It was as if I was just seeing her for the first time, all I could see was the depth of emotion in her eyes. They were like a window to her soul, revealing the innocent and pure person she truly was. I was struck by the thought that we were brought together in such a strange way. I blessed the day her species defied the laws of our nations; if not for them, I wouldn’t have had a pure lady like her as my wife.
I felt like the luckiest person in the world to have her as my wife, and I knew that our bond was stronger than any law or rule could ever break.
“What are you thinking?” Nova asked, I smiled, rocking my palms on her waist.
“Thinking about the only woman in my heart,” I confessed, my voice came out lower than expected and I wondered if she heard what I said.
“Hmm, what about her?” she coughed slightly, a faint blush on her cheeks as she stared deeply into my eyes.
“Picturing my future with her in my head. Things we would do together as we grow older in love.” I whispered, removing my hands from her waist and up to her face. I cupped her cheeks in both palms, caressing her cheeks with my thumbs.
“What’s that future you were planning? Can you tell me about it?” Nova grinned, her hands moved from my neck and up to my head, pulling gently at my hair.
“That’s a secret.” I chuckled, giving her cheek a soft pinch and she let out a soft grunt.
“I only want a hint, not the full plan.” she pouted, her red lips curved up beautifully. I chuckled, wishing I could just vanish the banquet hall with her, she was turning me on and it took everything in me to stop me from bending her over and shoving my cock inside her warm pussy.
“No hint for you, dear wife!” I let out a soft chuckle, staring over her shoulder, my gaze darted outside and I saw a figure scrambling in the dark.
Huh? What was that? My brows knitted as I stared into space. I was having a bad feeling about the figure.
Who could it be? Could it be one of the guests? I wanted to move my mind off of the figure, but in a nation where an unknown rogue leader was residing wouldn’t make me relax over the thought that it might be one of the guests.
“Hey, I need to check out something outside. Please hold on for me, and please, let’s do this again when I come back. Save the last dance for me.” I placed a light kiss on her lips before hurrying out of the dance floor that had already been filled with couples, moving their bodies in perfect harmony.
I got outside, and I trailed my eyes, checking if I would catch a glimpse of the figure. But no one was in sight, not even a guard could be seen outside of the building.
I didn’t want to believe it was something dangerous. But I needed to know who the person was, for me to be sure hundreds of people in the Villa were safe.
I picked up my pace, speeding from one building to another, checking if I would see anything strange from any of the buildings, but nothing could be seen.
As I stood there, trying to make sense of what was happening, I realized something; I was jumping to conclusions. My mind was playing tricks on me, creating a false narrative out of nothing. I needed to calm down and take a deep breath. No one was in danger. It was all just my overactive imagination, a product of nerves and anxiety. I had to believe that, for the sake of my own sanity. The people are safe!
My feet carried me towards the towering royal building, the same one I worked in every day. But this time, it felt different. As I approached the entrance, my heart began to race. I could see my office window on the top floor, but something about it seemed off. The window was dark, and I could have sworn I saw a shadow move behind the glass.
I sped to my office, and I was glad everything was as I left it. Nothing was touched. I used my senses to look through the building, but nothing was there. Not even a single soul.
I raced out of the building. Standing outside of the royal office building with my eyes roaming everywhere, searching for the shadow.
I let out a sigh, shaking my head as I tried to convince myself it was just my imagination. “I must have seen a wrong thing.” I thought to myself. “Or maybe it was just a draft. Nothing to worry about.” I turned to head back to the banquet hall, my heart still racing in my chest.
Suddenly, I felt a paper ball hit my back and fall to the floor. I whipped around, searching the foyer for the culprit, but no one was there. Was someone playing a prank on me? Or was it just a random occurrence? I stood frozen, my heart racing as I tried to make sense of what had just happened.
With trembling hands, I picked up the piece of paper, my eyes widening as I saw the crimson liquid that coated its surface. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Was it really blood? I held it up to my face, squinting at the writing scrawled across the page. The message was brief, but it sent a chill down my spine.
“In five days. Eruba.”
