Prescott’s POV
The cars pulled to a halt in front of the building, The door opened from the outside and I stepped down from the car.
I stared at the guards who had lined up in front of the building with a weak smile on my face.
“Greetings to His Majesty, our acclaimed King!” they all chanted and I felt the smile on my face grow wilder, spreading across my face.
“Greetings.” I smiled, giving them my sincere smile as their arms crossed over their chests in greetings.
I turned around to see my men had already stepped down from the car and the car had been driven away from the entrance.
“Take that file to my bed chamber,” I said to the nearest person to me.
“Yes, Your Majesty!” he bowed before walking away to deliver the message.
“Prescott!” I heard that cheerful voice of Ulrica, calling out to me her voice echoed through the corridor and I felt the corner of my lips curved into a smirk.
I moved my gaze away from the guards to the royal building, there she was, running towards me as if her life depended on it.
“You’re back!” she exclaimed, jumping into my arm, and pressing her body tightly into mine.
“Aargh.” I groaned inwardly as I felt her body pressed against my wound. I moved my hand to her shoulders and gently pushed her off me.
“Hey, you’re suffocating me.” I chuckled, taking my hand to her head and patted her head slowly.
“Don’t be so cheap, I’m merely giving you a hug.” She rolled her eyes, slapping my hand off her head.
I chuckled, sliding my hands into my pant pocket. “Where’s Wharton?” I asked, walking away from her.
“He should be in the office, showing his head in those sheets.” She grinned, rushing up to me and wrapped her hands around my arm.
“Um,” I cleared my throat, not saying anything to what she had said.
I let her lay her head on my shoulder as we made our way to the office building. The maids passing by gasped upon seeing us.
“Greetings, Your Majesty the King!” they greeted, I nodded to their greetings, not saying anything as they moved aside for us to pass.
Walking into the hallway with Ulrica’s head still on my shoulder, I felt her fingers gently press on the wound on my arm and I let out an audible groan.
“Aargh!” I gasped, shoving Ulrica away from me, before entering into my office.
“Prescott…”
I banged the door on her face as I dragged my legs towards the couch. The door opened and Ulrica stormed in, glaring at me with her eyes burning in fury.
“What’s that for?” she barked, storming towards me and stopping right in front of me.
I lowered my head and rested it on the couch headrest. Both my chest and arm hurt badly and I groaned inwardly. The poison that was used on me must have been a deadly one because I felt weak from the inside.
“I’m sorry, Rica! But can I get some rest?” I groaned, I shut my eyes as they were beginning to feel heavy yet again.
“Get some rest?” she huffed, I didn’t say anything as I was too weak to exchange words with Ulrica.
She was the type who loved talking, and exchanging words with her in my current state was not advisable.
“What. That. Was. You. Doing. This. Way.” I heard her voice saying something, but I was far gone and I couldn’t make sense of what she was saying.
The next thing I felt was something bumping into my forehead. I jumped out of the couch and positioned myself for whatever that just attacked me.
“You!” Ulrica yelled, pointing her footwear at me, I gasped when realisation dawned on me.
“What the hell, Ulrica?!” I groaned, slapping my forehead in annoyance before plunging back onto the couch.
“What the heck was that?” I hall yell, glaring at the footwear in her hand. “Why did you do that?” I gritted my teeth in annoyance.
“Oh,” Ulrica chuckled, dropping the footwear to the floor before sliding her foot into it. “It’s nothing.” She smiled, walked towards me and plunged into the seat beside me, snuggling into my chest.
“It’s something,” I smirked, grabbing her head off my chest, “I felt something plat against my forehead, and you had that thing in your hand,” I said, pointing at her feet.
“Oh, that?” she grinned, throwing her legs under the table. “I was talking to you, but you were busy sleeping.” she pouted, moving her hand to my chest.
With my eyebrows raised, I asked, “So you hit my face with that thing, just to make me stay awake?” I sighed, rubbing my face in disbelief.
I thought I would get enough rest if I should come back to the Villa, but never knew Ulrica was still here to make life a living hell for me.
“Sorry.” she smiled, tapping my fingers on my chest.
I let her be since her fingers weren’t hitting hard on my wound. She remained like that for a while before standing up from the couch as she had just remembered something Important.
“I left something in your study!” she gasped, rushing up to the study.
I sat there, with my gaze dropped. I couldn’t tell what was wrong with her, judging by how she left. My eyes were on the way she took until she came out with a plate in her hand.
“I heard you were coming, so I had the maids prepare some steak for you.” She smiled, walking up to me with the plate and wine in her hand.
“That’s so thoughtful of you!” I smiled, moving my head on the couch.
Ulrica came forward and dropped the plate on the table before sitting back down on the couch beside me.
“Thank you!” I groaned, gulping hard as the thought of Nova came flooding my brain.
I didn’t want to think about her, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake the thought of her hard glare off my head.
“Come back to your senses, Prescott!” Ulrica barked, I groaned when I felt her hand against my chest.
“Aargh!” I gasped, gripping my chest in pain.
“Are you okay?” She whispered, her voice shaking as she spoke.
“Yes, I’m fine.” I rubbed my palm on my chest before moving my gaze away from her.
“Okay,” she gulped, grabbed a fork from the plate and stabbed it into the steak.
She successfully cut out a tiny slice and moved the fork to my mouth. I opened my mouth and took the steak with my mouth.
“Your… Your Majesty, I…”
I heard that voice that I thought I wouldn’t be hearing till my last breath. My wolf stirred and I moved my eyes to look at her.
My hands curled into a fist as I remembered what she said to me.
“Please, leave.” I groaned, standing up from the couch.
My heart skipped a beat as I watched tears shimmer in her eyes. I wanted to rush to her and pull her to my chest. But, I didn’t want her to go against her wish for the second time.
“But… I need to talk to you.” Her hand tightened around the doorknob as she spooked. Her voice broke which showed she might burst into tears.
I sighed, sliding my hands into my pocket. My gaze on her remained sharp as I took a deep breath.
“I have nothing to say to you, please leave.” I groaned, my voice came out cold and harsh. I clenched my fist in my pocket as I turned on my heels and walked away.
I entered into my study and plunged into the seat. My heart burned as I instantly regretted telling her to leave.
“Why?” I mentally yelled at myself and banged my fist on the table. A sharp pain surged through me but I didn’t stop as I continued banging my fist on it.
Nova’s crying face kept showing in my head, making my heart ache. I grabbed hold of the files on the table and pushed them to the floor. I panted heavily as I watched the files littered the floor.
I wanted to grab her and pull her into my chest. I wanted to caress her hair and tell her not to leave me.
Tears rolled down my eyes as I threw my head backwards, letting my regret feed on me.
I heard footsteps and I hastily wiped my face and swirled my chair to look at the person that entered.
“Prescott!” I heard my name, my earshot out and I hastily raised my gaze to meet his.
“Wharton!” I smiled, resting in the seat as I stared at the guy in front of me who wouldn’t stop flashing me a sad smile.
Something was off about him, a dark aura was lurking around him and I feared I might not believe the guy in front of me wasn’t my Beta.
Who’s he?
