Nova’s pov
“You want to kill his Majesty?” I gasped, staring at her with tears streaming down my cheeks.
What will happen if she got caught? What will happen if his Majesty dies in our pack? What will the powerful Lycans do us, lowly werewolves?
It’s no doubt, our pack would become a thing of the past. They would wipe out our species and everything about us would be history.
“How dare he killed my mate when we didn’t do anything to him? He dares killed the boy guy when he has nothing to do with the situation!” Tamsyn howled, piercing her arm with the dagger.
Blood oozed out of the cut and she pierced it deeper into her skin.
“Tam, please!” I begged, my voice shaking with fear. I watched in horror as she plunged the dagger into her arm, blood oozing out of the wound. “Please think about your pup and stop this madness.” I pleaded, unable to keep up with the sight.
“No,” Tamsyn laughed, the sound crazed and unhinged. She traced her thumb across her arm, smearing blood across her skin. I watched in horror as she brought the bloodied thumb to her mouth, licking it clean with relish.
The gesture was depraved, and I felt a chill of fear run down my spine. What kind of person would do something like that? I couldn’t imagine what must be going through her mind, what kind of dark thoughts were swirling around in her head.
Tears shimmered in her eyes as she let her thumb slip out of her mouth. “You don’t know how much I endured the sight, watching my mate get killed by those demons was a horrible sight to behold.”
Tears ran down her cheeks, leaving trails of salt and sorrow in their wake. I stood there, frozen in place, unable to do anything but watch as she sobbed.
I felt helpless, my heart breaking as I saw the pain and loss reflected in her eyes. I wanted to say something, anything, to make her feel better, but I couldn’t find the words. All I could do was stand there and share in her grief, offering silent comfort with my presence alone.
“They killed him because he wouldn’t let them take me! They cut his throat, and his head rolled to my feet, and I couldn’t do anything!” Tamsyn hollered, her eyes ablaze with fury, her fists clenched at her sides as she spoke.
I could see the pain and anger etched on her face, and I knew she was reliving the horror of that day all over again. It was clear that she was still haunted by what had happened, and I could feel her anguish as she spoke.
“That was in the past. What about the future of your pup? Don’t you think you’re going to endanger the life of your pup and your own if you should harm his Majesty?” I cried out, shaking my head as different thoughts flashed through my mind.
“Oh,” Tamsyn dropped the dagger on the floor, it made an ear-blasting sound as it collided with the floor. “You like him, huh? You’re supporting that murderer now?” she burst into laughter, plunging into my bed.
“I swear I am not supporting him. I hate him as much as you do, but the hate is not enough to get our species in danger!” I plunged into the bed beside her, Tamsyn moved away from me, avoiding me like a plague.
“I saw it. Right over there, I was watching you, hugging him like you’d stop breathing if you let go of him.” she hissed loudly, nibbling on her nails as she moved her gaze to the floor.
I sighed, getting fed up with her attitude. “I didn’t hug him because I wanted to,” I paused, staring at her, even though she wouldn’t move her gaze from the floor.
“I hugged him because I was grateful for the help he said he would render to our pack. He’s going to save this pack from those rogues.” I groaned, Tamsyn sprang up from the bed at the mention of the rogues.
“What makes you think we want his help? Why would you think we needed help from a beast like him? He’s worst than the rogues and I would be pleased to die in the hands of the rogues than to be saved by his dirty hands!” Tamsyn yelled, she spit on my face and I wiped it with my palm.
I wanted to get angry, but was I in the position to get mad at that moment? Was I allowed to get mad when she was grieving over the death of her mate?
“I do not know much about him, but I feel like we’re wrong about him. He doesn’t seem like what he had pictured him to be.” I sighed, standing up from the bed.
My eyes drifted to my sister’s arm and my eyes landed on her cut, blood was dripping from her cut and I made to touch it but she moved away.
“Why would you defend him?” Tamsyn demanded, her voice rising with anger. “He’s the one who gave the order to kill my mate, isn’t he? So how can you say we were wrong?” I could feel the heat of her fury, and I tried to keep my voice calm in the face of it.
“Maybe he’s changed. Maybe he’s not the same person he was before, maybe he didn’t ask his men to kill your mate. He fucking agreed to help us, if he truly hates our kind I don’t think he would want to help us!” I said, not sure if I truly believed my own words. But I need to make Tamsyn believe that the Lycan King wasn’t that horrible of a person and she should change her mind of killing him.
“I was expecting you to say that when he has never harmed you in any way. You weren’t there when Dad got flogged with a ride. Dad got flogged by two hefty men right before my eyes. Whose order was it? Who gave out the order for that to get flogged? You’re here siding with that beast and you want me to support your stupid fact!” she picked up a pillow and threw it at me, I didn’t duck, I let it hit my head before it dropped to the floor.
“Tamsyn, what the fuck do you want from me?” I cried, tears streaming down my face. “What more can I do to prove to you that I’m not on his Majesty’s side?” I felt like I was being pulled in two directions, wanting to help her but feeling powerless to do so. It was like my heart was being torn in half, and I didn’t know how to fix it.
“Please, just trust me,” I pleaded. “Tell me what you want me to do and I would prove to you that I am not on his side.” I gripped my chest, rubbing my palm on my chest as I felt my heart heavy in my chest.
“You’ll help me get rid of him, if you do that, you’ll have my trust again as we have always been.” she came to me and took my palm in hers. Her eyes were on mine, pleading with me to understand.
“I’ll help you to get rid of him,” I nodded my head and gulped down the sudden lump that formed in my throat. “Just like we always have, we’ll do this together.”
Tamsyn smiled, caressing the back of my hand with her thumbs, and I felt a rush of hope and relief. Maybe there was a way for us to fix this, to bring us back to where we had been before, and that would be if I help her in her plan.
“I know we can do this, just believe in my plan.” she brought her palm to my face and wiped off my tears.
“I have a request,” I mumbled, staring into her eyes. “Let’s do this after the fight with the rogues is over.” I felt my heart tighten as I said those words, it seemed like I was committing a crime I would end up regretting for the rest of my life.
Tamsyn flashed me a wild smile before nodding her head in approval. “As long as we get rid of him, I’m okay with your condition.”
