Prescott’s pov
Sitting on the swirl chair behind the huge table in my office, with tons of documents lying carelessly on the table. I picked up the last document and signed it, with a smug on my face.
“Just wait until the coronation is over, I would take over everything,” I smirked to myself, gathering the documents together.
The door flung open and cherry blossom scents filled the air. I already knew who it was, with the pair of her heels clicking aggressively on the marble floor.
“Oh, my Prescott!” Ulrica beamed with a smile, her voice sounded through the room.
I hastily shoved the documents under a folder before moving my gaze to her, Ulrica was looking more ravishing over the years.
“Ulrica!” I stood up from the seat and stretched out my arms for her, Ulrica smiled brightly before running into my open arms.
“How have you been?” she disengaged from the hug, stood on her toes and pecked me on my cheeks.
“Been well.” I took a few steps back and threw my hands inside my pant pocket. Staring into Ulrica’s eyes, she looked quite energetic unlike when she left the park for another country to heal over her mate that rejected her.
“You are an absolute divine.” I couldn’t help but applaud her beauty, Ulrica’s eyes sparked and she moved her hair to cover her flushed cheeks.
“I can’t believe it’s been over three years since I’ve seen your handsome face.” she grinned, rubbing my shoulders while staring deep into my eyes.
“Um,” I grabbed her hands on my shoulders, “What do you think about going to a pub? Let’s chat over a drink.” I winked at her.
“Oh, my little Prescott is now an Adult.” she punched my arm and I faked a groan.
“What do you mean by, ‘little’? Do you forget I’m older with four years?” I smirked at her, Ulrica glared at me, her brows knitted together.
“What?” I grabbed my keys and pulled my shirt over my shoulder to cover my mom’s wolf shoulder tattoo. Ulrica didn’t like tattoos and she had warned me severely to never get one.
“What do you mean by ‘what’ when you just looked down on me?” she groaned and slumped to the chair across from me.
I straighten my shirt and gripped the arms of the chair she sat on. “You’re older than me, okay? You’re just short.” I held back my laughter as I watched her eyes light up with excitement.
“Good! Now, let’s hit the pub.” she sprang up from the chair and I let out a dry chuckle.
Ulrica will never accept the fact that she was younger. She has been like that since we were little.
“That reminds me, where the hell is Wharton?” she hastily halt on her track, she turned to face me but I walked passed her.
“Probably carrying out nation’s duty.” I sneer and got the door for us.
Ulrica tugged at my arm and rested her head on my shoulder. “I wish we could all go to the pub together, but that’s fine, I would do anything to be alone with you.” she grinned and I sneered at that.
We got inside the car and I drove out of the villa. The drive to the pub was rowdy since Ulrica wouldn’t stop talking about the people she met in the state and how she lost her way back home after she got drunk at a bar.
“For some reason, everything here has changed a lot. This pub looks more refined than it was three years ago.” she undid her seatbelt and step down from the car.
“Yes, I guess the only one who hasn’t changed is you.” I also stepped down from the car and walked up to her, she grabbed my arms and we walked inside the pub together.
“Why would you say that?” I pulled out a stool for her and she sat down.
“Because I wasn’t expecting you to be this clingy after all these years.” I pulled out a stool for myself and sat down beside her.
Ulrica rolled her eyes and I shrugged off my shoulders. The bartender walked up to us and bowed in respect.
“Your Highness, what would you like to drink?” She asked, her hands intertwined to the front, a wild smile was plastered on her face.
“Negroni for me, and…”
“Cosmopolitan.” Ulrica chipped in before I could ask her what she wants to drink.
“Okay. Your drinks will be ready in a jiffy, your Highness.” she bowed and headed for the counter.
Ulrica’s gaze was on the lady until she was completely out of sight. She turned and gnashed her teeth.
“What was that for?” she glared and I knitted my brows in confusion.
“What’s that?” I propped my elbows on the table and looked at her burning eyes.
“The bartender! Why were you staring at her that way?” she pouted and I sighed.
“How was I staring?” I rested my chin on my palm, Ulrica rolled her eyes and then scoffed.
“Like you’ve known her for long and you wanted to get her to your bed after meeting her again,” she mumbled, and I felt my jaw drop.
Why would she think so low of me?
“Why would I do that when I have a wife?!” I grinned, the bartender came with our drinks and placed them on the table, she bowed and left to attend to a group of four men that just walked in through the door.
“Exactly! You’re here with your wife and you’re staring at another woman, does that make any sense?” she picked up her drink and took a light sip.
“Well, since I left my wife at home, I think it’s cool to stare at another woman, but I’m not that kind of a person.” I picked up my drink and gulped down a large quantity.
“What do you mean by leaving your wife at home, do you by any chance have a wife that I don’t know? I doubt that. I’m the only woman in your life.” Ulrica blurted out proudly.
I took my drink and gulped down the rest of its content. “I verily am a family man. I now have a wife and tomorrow is her Coronation. Guess your grandfather didn’t tell you, he also got to know about it, early this morning at the courtroom.” I brought out my wallet and tossed some bills on the table.
“Meet me in the car when you’re done with your drinks.” I pat her shoulders and tried to walk away from her.
“Do you not love me?” Ulrica’s angry voice blasted around the room which diverted the gaze of the people at the pub. Once they all saw who it was, they looked away from us and continue with what they were doing.
“As I have said before, meet me in the car when you’re done,” I added before walking away from our table.
I haven’t gotten to the exit when I heard a shattering glass and I hastily turned around to have a look.
Standing there was Ulrica at the centre of the pub with a broken glass in her hand, pointing at her neck.
“What the hell did you think you’re doing?” I asked with a raised brow.
“I asked you a darn question and if you walk through that door without replying, I swear to goddess I’m going to stab myself and die.” she cried out, tears gushed out of her eyes and I held back my laughter.
She was so bad at acting that anyone would know when she was faking a threat.
“Guess you’ve been away for quite some time that you forget who you are.” I chuckled lightly and I watched her face twirled in anger.
“You’re a Lycan for goddess sake, that shit got nothing on you,” I added, Ulrica threw out the broken glass in disappointment and mumbled a curse word.
“Fuck you!” she plunged into the seat and I shrugged off my shoulders.
“You have five minutes to join me in the car, or you’re going to run back to the villa in your wolf form.” I winked at her before walking out of the pub.
I let out a howl when the cool breeze outside the pub hit my face. I heard approaching footsteps from the back and I let out a sigh.
“Will she ever accept the fact that I do not love her and I can never love any woman?”
