Silence descended in the large living room.
Morphy sat next to Yayoi. The two stared at each other and smiled.
Following that, Morphy looked at Rosiley and replied, “sister-in-law, your worry is legitimate. However, I won’t break up with Yayoi.”
“Won’t break up?”
Rosiley frowned slightly. Actually, there were still some pending matters between them that made their relationship more complicated than a promise to not break up.
However, when she saw the determined gaze of Morphy, she swallowed her words of suspicion before glancing at them angrily. “All right, I know that you love each other.”
Yayoi smiled shyly before complaining helplessly, “Aren’t we talking about Xiaoxiao and Corey? Why is this suddenly about me?”
Rosiley couldn’t help sniggering. “Right, why is it suddenly about you guys?”
Afterward, she raised her brows at Morphy. “Morphy, you have to take the blame for this. If not for your sudden appearance, I wouldn’t have changed the topic.”
Morphy hugged Yayoi’s shoulder as a brilliant smile crept over his handsome face. “All right, I’ll take the blame while you speak.”
Hearing that, Rosiley and Yayoi laughed out loud.
Compared to their relaxed atmosphere, the dining room in the Ying family home was tense. sitting in the main seat, Father Ying had a strict face as his cold and piercing eyes penetrated the crowd, making the atmosphere suffocating for everyone.
In Ying Xiaoxiao’s impression, her father had always been benevolent and nice. He was never so grumpy even when he was angry. Hence, she was also afraid of him and kept quiet, sending SOS messages via glances to her mother.
Mrs. Ying glared at her with frustration before she examined the graceful and elegant man next to her daughter. She whispered to the stoic Mr. Ying, “Old Ying, do you need to be so grumpy when Xiaoxiao just brought home her boyfriend as if he is your worst enemy?”
“What does a woman know?” Mr. Ying glared at her before examining the man next to his daughter. He asked directly, “What do you like about Xiaoxiao?”
“Everything.” As compared to the nervousness and carefulness of the Ying family, Corey was extremely composed. He gave a simple answer to Mr. Ying’s question.
“Everything?” Mr. Ying sniggered. “You mean everything she has.”
“Old Ying!” Mrs. Ying found such suspicion uncalled for and distasteful. “Must everyone who likes our daughter be after the power of the Ying family? As if our daughter is terrible.”
Corey finally understood that Mr. Ying believed him to be someone who liked Xiaoxiao for the power of the Ying family.
He couldn’t help chuckling. “Uncle, I can be honest with you and say that I love Xiaoxiao as a person, regardless of the power of the Ying family. Furthermore, I don’t need any aid from the Ying family.”
Beside him, Ying Xiaoxiao was embarrassed. If not for the fact that she had to hide Corey’s true identity, she would confess that Corey was from the Lu family, whose family didn’t need the Ying family’s fortunes at all.
Mr. Ying stared directly into his soul, attempting to find some flaws in his expression.
However, he was too composed to be lying.
“Did you hear that? Don’t think so poorly of others every time!” Mrs. Ying glared at Mr. Ying before putting a prawn into Corey’s bowl.
“Corey, don’t mind what Xiaoxiao’s father said. He loves to be paranoid.” Mrs. Ying smiled, with her adoration of Corey unconcealed in her eyes.
To be honest, her daughter’s boyfriend was indeed outstanding this time, excellent in both aura and appearance. Most importantly, he was extremely polite and well-mannered, which showed that he had had a good upbringing.
Corey smiled at Mrs. Ying. “Thank you, Auntie.”
Then, he turned around to look at Ying Xiaoxiao, asking softly, “Do you eat prawns?”
Ying Xiaoxiao was stunned. “Yes, why?”
