ALPHA KAEL’s POV.
My eyes narrowed, my mind racing with questions. “What is going on, Zephyr?” I demanded, my voice low and deadly. “Why is your scent here? Why are you holding a dagger identical to the one that killed Kaida?”
Zephyr hesitated, his eyes darting to the Council members before turning to mine. “I… I can explain,” he stammered.
“Explain?” I repeated, my voice rising. “Explain why your scent is here. Explain why you’re holding a dagger that looks like it was used to kill Kaida. Explain why I should trust you?”
Zephyr took a step back, his eyes wide with fear. “Kael, listen to me-”
“No,” I cut him off, my anger taking over. “You’ll tell me the truth, Zephyr. Now. No more lies, no more excuses. What do you know about Kaida’s death?”
Zephyr took a deep breath before he spoke. “I didn’t kill Kaida, Kael. I swear it. But… I think I know who did.”
My eyes narrowed, my knuckles turning white from how hard I clenched my fist. “Who?”
Zephyr hesitated, his eyes darting to the Council members before returning to mine. And then, in a voice barely above a whisper, he spoke.
“I think it was… Akira.”
My heart stopped. No, it couldn’t be. Akira wouldn’t.
I turned to the Council members. “It seems we have more to discuss,” I growled.
The Council members nodded, their faces grim. “Yes, Alpha Kael. We must get to the bottom of this.”
I turned back to Zephyr, my eyes blazing with rage. “You’re coming with me, Zephyr. We’re going to get to the truth, once and for all.”
Zephyr nodded, his eyes avoiding mine. “Yes, Kael. I’ll tell you everything.”
I turned and walked away, Zephyr and the Council members following me. But my mind was already racing ahead, thinking of Akira, thinking of the evidence, thinking of the truth.
What was going on? And who was behind it all?
As we walked, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was walking into a trap. That Zephyr was not telling me the truth.
But I had to know the truth. For Akira’s sake, I had to know.
We reached the Council chambers, and I turned to face Zephyr. “Tell me everything,” I growled.
Zephyr took a deep breath before speaking. “I saw Akira arguing with Kaida earlier that day,” he said. “I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now I realize it must have been important.”
My eyes narrowed. “What were they arguing about?”
Zephyr hesitated. “I don’t know. But it looked serious and heated.”
I turned to the Council members. “Did anyone else see this argument?”
One of the Council members nodded. “Yes, Alpha Kael. I saw them arguing. It was about something to do with the pack’s future. That’s the only time Akira and Kaida cross paths since Kaida moved in here.”
My mind was racing. What could Akira and Kaida have been arguing about? And what did it have to do with the pack’s future? Was it even about the pack’s future?
I turned back to Zephyr. “What else do you know?”
Zephyr hesitated before speaking. “I saw Akira with a dagger earlier that day. It looked like the same one that killed Kaida.”
My heart stopped. No, it couldn’t be. Akira wouldn’t…
I turned to the Council members. “We need to investigate further,” I growled. “We need to find out what happened.”
The Council members nodded. “Yes, Alpha Kael. We will get to the bottom of this.”
But as we left the Council chambers, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was walking into a trap. That Zephyr was leading me down a path of lies and deceit.
And that Akira, Akira might be in more trouble than I thought.
I turned to Zephyr, my eyes narrowing. “Where did you get the dagger from again ?” I demanded.
Zephyr hesitated before speaking. “I saw it in Akira’s room,” he said. “I was walking by and I saw it on her bedside table.”
My heart stopped. Akira’s room? Why would she have a dagger like that?
I turned to the Council members. “I need to speak with Akira,” I said. “Now.”
The Council members nodded, their faces grave. “Yes, Alpha Kael. Go.”
I turned and walked away, my mind racing with questions. What did Akira do? Why did she have a dagger like that in her room?
As I approached my chambers, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. What was going on? And what did Akira have to do with it?
I reached the door and paused, taking a deep breath. I needed to calm down, to think clearly.
I pushed open the door and walked in, my eyes scanning the room for Akira. She was sitting on the bed, her eyes on me.
“Kael,” she said, her voice soft. “I’m glad you’re here. I wanted to tell you something.”
I walked over to her, my mind racing with questions. “What is it?” I asked.
Akira hesitated, her eyes looking around the room. “I don’t know if I should say,” she said. “But I think you need to know.”
I sat down beside her, my eyes on hers. “Tell me,” I said.
Akira took a deep breath before speaking. “I felt something,” she said. “Something that I don’t understand.”
I leaned in, my heart pounding in my chest. “What did you feel?” I asked.
” I felt like I was in a trance, under someone’s control. The last thing I remember is walking into my room and sitting on my bed. How I went out, what I did while I was out, or what even took me out I have no idea. Then all of a sudden I heard the snapping of fingers and I felt like I woke up from whatever I was in. I don’t know how to explain it but I could have sworn I was hearing voices in my head.” Akira said, her voice trembling slightly.
“Trance? Snap? Black magic!”
