Matteo’s POV
I watched her shoulder droop while I passed her punishment. I wanted to make her suffer for trying to kill me, but I wasn’t sure that I could. Then it dawned on me that I loved her and I couldn’t hurt her, but maybe the love would disappear because our relationship was built on lies.
Ginevra squealed happily but my glare erased the smile on her face.
“What makes you think that you can kidnap my woman?” I asked with a dangerously quiet tone.
It was surprising that I was still calm after everything I’d discovered. Though I had the urge to go on a killing spree and allow the demons inside of me to take the lead.
She scoffed, approaching me with her usual sensual steps and lust filled eyes that made me go crazy for her years ago. If I was still the same Matteo who was trapped by her amorous desires, I’d have torn her clothes into shreds and fvcked her in the roughest way possible, but right now she irritated me. Irritating was a mild form of putting how she made me feel.
I wanted to tear her apart.
“Matteo, baby, don’t you realise that everything I do is for you? I’ve always loved you and tried to protect you from people that want to hurt you but it seems like I’m not doing enough. What should I do to make you love me in return?” Her voice was soft and sultry as she placed her hands on my chest.
I wanted to push her away violently, but the respect I had for her stepped in.
“Get your filthy hands off me, Ginevra.” I said with a scowl and she dropped her hands immediately, then reached for a gun on the ground and raised it at me.
I smirked, daring her to pull the trigger instead she flashed a grim smile at me and pointed the gun towards Aurora who looked tired and hopeless. She had to stay alive and have a taste of everything I’d planned for her.
My eyes lowered to her slightly bulging stomach which caused my heart to clench. This woman held the key to my heart, yet she shattered it and now I was at a loss of what to do.
Maybe I shouldn’t have fallen in love with her in the first place. It would have been easier to deal with her after finding out the truth.
“Matteo!” Ginevra called, her voice sounding off. “I’ve done several crazy things for you. I killed all the women you slept with for associating with you and sharing what was mine. Unfortunately, your mother shared the same fate because she tried to show you love again, but it was too late. And now, Aurora will have to meet her parents wherever they are.” She yelled, her face turning red as she clutched onto the gun with a sardonic smile on her lips.
Without thinking, I aimed at her stomach and forehead, releasing a shot at both places while she collapsed to the ground.
My eyes darted to Sofia who was too stunned to speak as her eyes remained widened in surprise and her lips parted. I untied the both of them and led them out of the room with Aurora trying to apologise to me.
“Matteo, I don’t mind being whoever you want me to be as long as you forgive me.” Her voice croaked as tears welled up in her eyes.
I didn’t respond as I trudged ahead in the darkness, shooting anyone who tried to attack me while shielding the both of them at the same time.
“Please, talk to me, Matteo. Your silence is frustrating,” She sobbed.
I halted and faced her sharply. “Silence is all you shall get from me, Aurora. I guess I was too soft with you and which made it easier for you to manipulate me. Don’t bother asking for forgiveness because you aren’t worthy of it.”
She didn’t say anything else till we left the old building which reeked of alcohol, piss and cigarettes. If Ginevra could come here without getting attacked it only meant that she was influential in this territory, and having a great influence here wasn’t possible without money and power.
It occurred to me that I didn’t know much about her past, instead I was more concerned in eating her up and having her satisfy my sexual needs. I became suspicious of everyone apart from my brother, at least I could vouch for his loyalty to me.
We kept walking towards the spot where my car was parked, then I saw from afar that it wasn’t there anymore.
“What the hell is going on?” I muttered and immediately my phone rang, an unknown number showing on the screen.
“Looking for your car?” A deep voice sounded with a chuckle in the background.
I furrowed my brows and turned around with a scrutinising gaze. Something felt off but before I could realise what it was a gunshot sounded and my leg caught a bullet.
I quickly ducked another bullet and sank on the ground quickly bringing Aurora and Sofia with me to shield them. Aurora winced in pain, holding onto her stomach and even though I wanted to comfort her I held back. My phone fell a bit far from me and with the impact of the fall, I knew that it had become indisposed which made it impossible to call for reinforcement.
Footsteps rang in my ears while I took out some bullets from my pockets and inserted it into my shotgun and took out another gun from my holster.
“We meet again.” I heard and turned my face sharply to meet the last man I expected to see. Aurora’s uncle, Lorenzo.
“Good planning, Aurora.” I stated and got up to my feet, ignoring the sharp pain that gnawed in my leg.
“I swear, I didn’t know about it.” She said in defence but my trust for her was broken.
Her beautiful face disgusted me and her eyes which I enjoyed looking into repulsed me. She was now my enemy and not my woman, I had to get it in my head and treat her as such.
“You don’t need to blame her because she detached herself from us the moment she fell in love with you.” He said and fiddled with the butt of his gun. “There’s something I hate about you Moretti’s, it’s how you like to snatch something that can never belong to you. That’s how I lost my sister and brother-in-law, but I won’t lose Giselle and Aurora to the both of you again.”
I smirked and raised my gun at him, but he laughed lackadaisical with his hands propped against his hip.
“That’s a very bad option. You are free to shoot me and get me out of the way, but what happens to your brother?” He snickered with a cynical smirk.
“What the hell are you talking about?” I snapped.
“Temper, eh, temper.” He snapped his fingers and some man who had been lurking behind the shadows came forward, bearing a striking resemblance to him.
He looked familiar and suddenly I remembered where I met him. It was at the venue which held the cooking competition.
He brought an iPad to Lorenzo who turned it on and the next thing I saw almost made my knees buckle.
Angelo was tied up with blood gushing out from his nose and some cuts close to his eyebrows. He had been kidnapped as well and I had to save him.
Matteo keeps saving others, but who is going to save him? Watch out for the next chapter.
