Matteo’s POV
I sat impatiently on the armchair, waiting for Aurora to come downstairs with her luggage. It was late afternoon already and my pilot had been waiting for me for minutes.
It wasn’t like he would complain, but I hated wasting people’s time since they didn’t do the same to me.
She came downstairs finally, her auburn hair drooping around her shoulder wildly. She smiled at me as she dragged her box in one hand and held a duffel bag in the other.
“I’m sorry for making you wait, but I had to finish with the last minute packing.” She apologised in a sing-song tone, smiling sweetly.
Ever since I allowed her to participate in the competition, she had become very bubbly and less reserved. There was a spark in her eyes each time she served us during breakfast or dinner, and it made me happy if I was being honest.
“You ladies are fond of it. Let’s go.” I replied and helped her with the box.
She didn’t allow me to, “Don’t worry about it, Matteo. The Capo of the Outfit shouldn’t be seen carrying a worker’s bag.”
I sighed and gave her a fake glare.
“That should be my problem not yours.” I said and took both the box and bag from her.
Ginevra came out from her room and approached me with a forlorn look, while I kept my face blank of any emotion.
“Please, be safe. Matteo.” She said and placed her hands on his arm.
“I will. Just take care of the house as you normally do and inform Angelo if any issue arises.”
She nodded and came closer for a hug but I didn’t want to encourage her so I straightened and walked away. She was disappointed but I didn’t care, leaving with Aurora was what mattered.

“I’ve never been to Texas before,” She confessed as our limousine drove past some houses.
“How so? You’ve been in Chicago all your life?” I asked and she nodded, biting her lips as I held her hands.
They fit perfectly though her fingers were a bit cold and small. It was raining and the car’s air conditioner was on.
“There was no need for me to leave the state.” She replied, her body shivering physically, then I remembered that she had a case of pneumonia as she held tightly to her trench coat.
“Do you need me to hold you?” I suggested.
“Yes.”
I pulled closer to her as I wrapped my arms around her body while she melted in my hold. It was nice having her so close to me in that manner, at that point nothing felt better.
The limousine dropped at a hotel that belonged to a friend of mine. We were to share a suite and this time she didn’t mind.
“This is going to be fun,” She said and a ringtone rang out.
She dug into her bag and when she checked the caller, she hung up and dropped it into her bag.
“You should answer your call.”
“It isn’t important.” She replied in a rush and smiled nervously.
She was hiding something from me and if she didn’t want to tell me about it, then I wouldn’t force her to.
I led her to the elevator while I held her hands. A young woman who was passing through the hallway stared at me in a sultry manner, batting her fake heavy lashes at me and her red smudged lips.
“That woman seems like she’s about to eat you up,” Aurora said, her face scrunched up a little.
“I know right. Maybe I’ll talk to her later,”
“You can go now, Matteo, I don’t want to be a barrier to your woman hunt tonight,” She intoned sarcastically and walked ahead of me.
A chuckle danced in my throat but I held it back, seeing that she was slightly irritated and edgy. It only meant one thing; she was jealous, and if she was jealous then she probably nursed something for me.
“I might do that, but we need to head to our suite and freshen up first. Also, we are taking the wrong route.”
Her face turned red in embarrassment and she kept quiet through our walk to the suite.
*****
I’d finished my bath when I came out of the room and she wasn’t there. My heart raced as I called her name and got no response.
Where could she have gone? I thought.
My eyes darted toward the bed and I found her phone there and her bags unpacked. I quickly tossed a black short that I got from the wardrobe and wore a white vest over my holster which had a shotgun, then I headed for the lobby.
“Good evening, miss. Did you see the woman I came here with? She’s of average height with auburn hair and smokey eyes,” I described impatiently, praying that she wasn’t missing.
“I can’t say, sir. I’ve been seeing a lot of women since today and I might not be able to recognise her.” She replied curtly and continued with her laptop.
The urge to smash the laptop to the ground and force her to talk welled up in me, but I couldn’t blame her because it wasn’t her fault.
I turned around and my eyes caught the sight of someone who looked like her in a bikini.
I rushed out of the building and headed for the facade. The other part of the hotel had a big swimming pool, but that wasn’t what got my attention. My blood boiled as I saw her talking to a man who was bare chested, my eyes lowered at his waist and I found a bulge.
My possessiveness rose to the surface when I saw her in a striped white on black thong and a bra. Her hair spread wildly because of the evening breeze, giving her a sultry look.
“You might want to keep some distance from her,” I rumbled, fixing my eyes on Aurora who didn’t look unfazed with my appearance.
Then I realized that she was trying to spite me.
“And why should I do that?” The man who was talking with her replied rudely, though his eyes flickered with fear when he sized me up.
“Because I’m her bodyguard and her boyfriend won’t want to meet you here with her while you have a monster rising between your legs.” I said and Aurora glared daggers at me.
The man stared at her in surprise, his brows lowered and then he cussed inaudibly as he stalked off.
“What was that all about?” Aurora asked indignantly.
“Making sure that you are fine.. Why did you leave me all by myself?”
She huffed and folded her arms, “So that you can go woman hunting without me hanging around like baggage,” She snarled.
“Someone is really pissed,” I taunted and laughed then took some steps back when she connected her fist with my chest.
“You aren’t my boyfriend, alright? And whatever I want to do with my life is none of your business.” She snapped.
“I know, but you don’t like that man.”
She froze, lowering her lashes as I said the truth undiluted.
“You don’t know what I want,”
“Are you sure? Because I know that you are happy that we are here together and I know that you want me to kiss you and make tonight memorable for me.”
Her lips went agape at my words, then she closed it slowly and tried to walk away. But I was quick to restrain her from leaving as I wrapped my arms around her waist.
“Look into my eyes and tell me that you don’t want me inside of you tonight, riding you fast and hard while you scream my name.”
“Stop.. Matteo..” She said, but her head remained inclined.
That was all I needed as I took her lips in one swoop and plunged my tongue into her, my fingers massaging the nape of her neck. Her nipples puckered against the fabric of her bra which tingled me and got me hardened.
“Let’s go inside, I want more, Matteo.” She whispered in a croaky voice, as she tried to catch her breath.
