Matteo’s POV
There was only one person who had that voice but I doubted she was the one. Maybe I’d thought about her too much and it made me hallucinate about her presence.
The overwhelming rush of Adrenaline which surged through my veins came to a halt, and then I stared at my brother who wore a wary expression mixed with disappointment and glints of anger.
I gasped, feeling hurt and angry at myself. How could I have thought of hitting my younger brother so hard? He was the only family I had.
The arena which was calm because of the scream went agog with loud whispers and soon they turned into angry rants as a woman tried to force her way through.
I squinted my eyes to be sure that I wasn’t hallucinating again but it was her, Aurora, forcing her way through the crowd like an angry lioness. Her resilience marveled me even though I was pissed that she went against my order.
I motioned for the referee to come closer and he bowed his head so I could tell him what to do.
He nodded to everything I said then picked up the microphone. “Everyone, the match is over. It ended in a draw so you can return to your houses,” He shouted, eliciting some angry roars.
My eyes darted at all of them with a scowl and the whole place fell quiet. Slowly they began to disperse while my eyes settled on the woman with an auburn hair and smoky gray eyes staring at me.
They unlocked the cage and I came out while the medical team took care of my brother. I avoided his gaze as they wheeled him out on the stretcher.
“What are you doing here?” I growled but she stood unflinching, fluttering her lashes at me.
“You invited me here,” She replied.
“And I remember asking you not to bother coming here, right?”
She kept quiet but kept her gaze locked in mine. This woman was driving me crazy and I wondered how long I’d last before doing something I regretted, yet, I didn’t want to hurt her.
“If I wasn’t here, your brother would have been in a worse shape than he is right now. You have me to thank for that, don’t be an ingrate.” She spat, pulling her jacket closer to her chest.
I ignored her saucy reply and climbed down the stairs of the cage. “Are you cold?”
She shook her head while rubbing her palms together.
“I’m going to punish you for disobeying me, Aurora, ” I announced but she kept staring at me nonchalantly like she didn’t care. “By doing this”
She was already backed away into the wall, all I had to do was pin her there so that she wouldn’t sneak away like she did. Then I remembered something.
“How did you escape from your room? I personally locked it before leaving so how’s that even possible?”
“That should be one of the benefits of living around men. You get to learn a lot,” She replied with a pout and folded her arms while jealousy welled up in me as I wondered the kind of men she hung out with.
I guessed that they were the tough and over protective ones that didn’t bother to hide things from her, even the ones that women weren’t supposed to know.
“So you learnt how to tamper with locks?” I scowled, “Tell me what else they taught you.” I teased as she opened her mouth to argue with me.
“That is none of your business,” She snarled, then I grabbed her hands feeling the rush of heat against her skin.
“Did they teach you this?” I lowered my lips to her neck and circled it with my tongue with a shrill moan escaping her lips.
“No…” She moaned and tried to wiggle her hands out of my grip but I held it more firmly.
“Or this?” My lips moved to her chin and her eyes widened when I raised it to her lower lips. Then I teased her further by pressing a very light kiss to the bridge of her nose.
I couldn’t remember being that tender with a woman but she wasn’t just any woman, she was the woman who stopped me from harming my brother.
“We have to go, Matteo. The match is over,” She whispered with dark desires gleaming in her eyes.
“I know, but I haven’t decided what to do with you for being stubborn. I’ll give you options.”
“Let’s hear it,” She demanded.
“It’s either you lose your job or I kiss you,” I said, smacking my lips as her cheeks turned red. I usually had fun playing around with her, but teasing her was a great discovery.
“How can you ask me that? I came here because I care.” She challenged me with a loud voice.
There was no way I’d sack her, but I realized that this was the only way I could get a kiss from her. “Because I’m your boss and you never listen to me so choose. Your job or a kiss,”
She bent her head, apparently thinking of a way out of the fix I’d put her in but I wouldn’t give her an easy way out of it.
“Alright… I’ll.. kiss you.” She stuttered and glared at me.
“That’s a good option. You know, I once told you that you’ll fall for my trap and that’s what is happening right now. Don’t play with fire or you’ll get burned,”
She slanted me a look which said that she’ll get back at me. I couldn’t bear the chase anymore so I placed my palm around the small of her back and brought her lips close to mine.
“Your mouth smells of mint,” She said and I nodded.
“Won’t you like to know how it tastes?” I teased while she batted her lashes shyly, lowering her head.
For some reason I didn’t want to force her against myself, so I let my hands trail along her jacket which I felt like yanking off, but it wasn’t a part of the deal so I restricted myself and withdrew my hands from her body.
A bulge in my pants was rising with each passing second and my breathing became uneven.
Suddenly, the door to the sparring room burst open which startled her. I gave her some distance and asked the medical personnel who came with his hands soaked in blood to speak.
“Your brother needs you now.” He panted, running a jerky hand through his hair. “His health is getting worse,”
