Aurora’s POV
I swirled around to find Ginevra glaring at me with a disapproving scowl, while I met her icy stare with a look of nonchalance. If she thought that she could intimidate me into saying anything that I didn’t want to say to her then she had to be joking.
“What are you planning to do?” She reiterated.
“Nothing that concerns you, Ginevra. Am I not allowed some privacy in this house?” I tilted my lips to the side with a cocky stare.
She was thrown off balance by my response but I didn’t care. Someone needed to put her in her place and I was willing to do it wholeheartedly.
She turned the door knob, pushing the door quietly as I gasped. If I knew that she was this discreet, I’d have locked the door before making the call but that would have only brought more suspicion.
I moved away from the window and clutched tightly to my phone. I couldn’t understand what set my body on edge whenever I was around her, and my instincts always gave me a bad signal when she was near.
“Of course, you are allowed some privacy I’m this house, but don’t take it for granted. I’ve been working in this place even before Matteo’s father died. I helped him get back into shape and if you think that he’ll take you seriously then you are in for a big joke.” She snarled.
I folded my arms, furrowing my brows at the same time. There was something strange about how she talked about Matteo and I knew that it wasn’t just devotion to his household, it was something else.
“Oh, no Ginevra. I’m not head over heels for him if that is what you are worried about. I’m here to work and polish culinary credentials, tearing another man’s household apart is not what I want on my list.” I debated and then she sighed in relief.
Like I was hit in the head, everything made sense. She was jealous about my closeness to him and if I wasn’t careful, she’d find a way to send me out of the house.
“That’s good to hear. I’ll leave you now but make sure that lunch is ready before the usual time. I don’t want to incur Matteo’s wrath.” She flipped her hair and huffed then walked away.
A sigh escaped my lips as I sank onto the bed. Ginevra was going to give me a hard time, that I was sure of but I still had to find a way to make her bend to my plans.
I glanced at the clock and rushed into the bathroom to bathe. Angelo had been standing near the pool when I made the call so I decided to join him for any early swim. He looked approachable and I was planning on getting some information from him.
I applied my lotion and sunscreen then tossed on a matching set of bikini with flowery design. Swimming was one of the hobbies I liked as floating on water helped to calm my nerves.
Angelo was already sitting beside a pink flamingo on the tiles surrounding the pool when I met him. He wore a pair of shorts and held a glass of wine.
I took off the robe I’d put on to cover my bikini. It felt really weird being scantily dressed while leaving the house.
“Mind if I join you?” I smiled and he shook his head, taking off his ear pods.
His eyes took in my bare skin and landed on my cleavages which weren’t so big but visible enough to make any man drool. I cleared my throat and he took his eyes off and sipped his wine.
“I thought I was the only one who liked having an early swim,”
“No you aren’t. Swimming is one of my favorites. I enjoy the feeling of water on my skin, it’s exhilarating.” I replied, dunking my feet in the water which caused it to splash on my body.
It trickled down my skin, impulsively I jumped into the pool and allowed it to settle. I floated on the water, placing my hands on my stomach with my eyes closed to avoid the reflection of the rising sun from disturbing my eyes.
“Someone is really good at swimming,” Angelo commented.
“I told you so,” I giggled but remained still.
The surface tension of the water scattered as soon as he jumped into the pool. His action threw me deep into the pool which made me lose my composure for a second. Other newbies would have drowned but since I was used to water, I delved right up and exhaled.
I sent him a fake glare but he didn’t buy it as he began to laugh hysterically.
“You really thought I’d let you keep swimming peacefully.”
I chuckled, “Well, you’re not the only one who knows how to burst bubbles.”
I scooped some water from the pool and poured it on him. He raised his brow with his lips twitching and did the same to me. We both began to splash water at each other until my body began to shiver.
“Are you alright?” Angelo asked as I lifted myself and hoisted my body out of the pool.
“I feel a bit cold, but I’ll be fine.”
He handed me a towel which was on the pool rail and I dried myself with it. I hadn’t swam for some time, for that reason I forgot the negative reaction my body usually got whenever I stayed in the pool for a long time.
“Are you sure you are alright?” Angelo moved closer to me with concern etching his features.
I wasn’t fine anymore, my body shivered greatly which was turning into a cold and I couldn’t stop sneezing. Gathering the remaining energy left inside of me, I rose up and held onto the rail to avoid slipping.
I took my hand off the rail and tried to make another step, “I have to go inside…” My words were cut short as I lost my footing.
My heart thudded fast against my chest as I expected a heavy fall but warm arms wrapped around my waist and my eyes which were squinted met with the last man I wanted to be with.
