Thelma’s POV
Immediately Simon left, I jumped up and threw myself on the big double red sofa. I exhaled deeply and let out a feline laugh. I fought hard against allowing the smooth breeze that came from the AC, it almost put me to sleep even when I didn’t want to. I swear if the Alpha would come to my room that moment, I wouldn’t mind fucking him as a thank you gesture for what he had just done for me. But I had to remind myself that I need to play hard to get first. I didn’t want to first of all present myself with an image that portrays me as a cheap. . . which word would make prostitute less dramatically harmful? No. In fact, I had it in mind not to thank him for the new room because I didn’t want him to think he had done something so big for me.
When I had finished placing my things where I wanted them to belong, I heard a gentle knock at my door. The sound came twice before I finally responded. “Who is it?” I asked. There was no response and it spooked up my curiosity bag. I walked up to the door and opened it. Shocked, it wasn’t Simon that I saw nor was it Drake. It was a slender young lady with blue eyes. She had long blonde hair she had tied into a ponytail and it made the edges of her eyes sharp.
She smiled at me and showed me her beautiful gap teeth. I almost admired it but I had to, first of all, know who she was. “Hi dear,” she said.
“Hi,” was my apt response.
She brushed me aside and walked herself inside my new room. I frowned. That was rude. “And who are you?” I asked.
She looked around everywhere in the room before she finally turned to me and said, “My name is Bridget. And I guess you are the newest in the pack?” she asked.
Well, I wasn’t sure if I was the newest. “I assume so.”
She chewed on her lips and folded her palms, rubbing them against each other.
“And what do you think about the room?” she asked.
“Excuse me,” I said. “What do you mean by what do I think about the room? And who the hell are you by the way?” I could feel my temper slowly rising. For a moment, I thought that maybe Simon had actually sent someone to test my resolve. So I tried to maintain my cool.
“I thought I had introduced myself to you.”
“Then you might as well do it again.”
She laughed hysterically, her voice slowly sending waves of angry emotions down my heart with a speed equal to that of gravity. She held the helm of the white nightie she wore. I could almost spot her pointy nipple pressing hard against the nightdress.
“You seem like you are good at talking.”
“Oh yeah,” I uttered angrily. “And you seem to be good at bitching around.”
She frowned. She stared at me for a long moment before she finally uttered the next word. “Maybe the position of the Luna had entered your head and it is really dealing with your cognitive functions.” She crossed her hands to her chest. “Listen up, whatever anyone here had promised you or had told you about being a Luna, just know that you might not be able to even have the chance to smell the position unless you come through me first. Maybe with time, you will get to understand it.”
Oh, I think I was just getting to know where the conversation was heading to. The bitch in front of me might have something for the Alpha. Maybe something intimate, I wasn’t sure. But one thing was certain, she was bitching with the wrong person. I crossed my hands on my chest. “Bridget, I guess, might be your name,” I said and waved my head. “Do you know what your problem is?” I asked.
She ignored the question but I could spot the curiosity written on her face. “I think you are afraid of competition, Bridgy. That you have been screwing the Alpha right before anyone else doesn’t mean someone out there doesn’t fuck more than you do. So, baby girl, I think you should brace yourself up for competition because it seems to be your greatest undoing.” I saw her face slowly furrowing into a senile frown. I didn’t stop. It gave me more reasons to continue. “In other words, do not think so highly of yourself, Bridgy. It wouldn’t end so well in that regard.”
Her lips began to shake, her locked palm tightening even further. “So please, do yourself a favour and get the hell outta out of my room.”
She stared at me for a few more seconds before she finally shook her head and said, “We’ll see then.”
“Aurevoir,” I said to her and waved my right hand. I jammed the door hard as she left.
Drake’s POV
“How did it go? Did she like it?” I asked.
“Yes, she does,” Simon said. He was standing at my door. I had told him to show Thelma her new room.
“What did she say?” I asked. I didn’t understand why I was curious at the same time.
“What do you mean by what did she say?”
“I mean she didn’t say something when you showed it to her? Or you didn’t tell her that I was the one that offered her the room?” I asked.
Simon furrowed his face as though he didn’t understand my English. “She told me that she loved the room. She didn’t say another thing else.”
“And there was no congratulations from her to the Alpha?”
Simon smiled. “Oh, that!” he said. “She was just grateful.”
Honestly, I wasn’t satisfied with what he had just said. But I had plans to confront her and hear what she had to say. “Okay.”
“I want to remind you, Alpha,” Simon said, “There’s an Alpha convention coming up next week and you are expected to be there.”
“An Alpha convention, again?” I asked.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Where will it hold?”
Simon spent the next couple of minutes telling me where the event would hold, time and date. “Okay.” I nodded.
Simon refused to emphasize the need for me to go with my Luna. Not his fault though. The last convention held was mainly for those Alpha’s that had a Luna. Those in the high table were mostly those Alphas who lives with their Luna or maybe have had a Luna before and for one reason or the other, they weren’t around. Blood moon pack was respected and feared, but I still wouldn’t be able to hold any valid position in the league of Alphas until I finally find a Luna- a mate of my own.
“They said something about wearing a uniform too and also keeping the entire thing secret.” Simon narrated.
I didn’t even understand why anyone would want to keep something a secret and at the same time suggest wearing a uniform. Doing so would defeat the true purpose of the entire secrecy. Anyway, I brushed the thought aside and nodded. “I already know that, Sim.”
“I know you do, but this is exclusively for those old Alphas with new Lunas and for Alphas that just recently assumed the position.”
Oh, I thought as much. But still didn’t make any sense. I wouldn’t blame Simon though, he doesn’t make the rules. “I understand.”
He nodded- an action that was longer than required. “I need to go now then,” he said.
I nodded at him without uttering any word. He went out through the door and closed it. I went to the single chair beside my bed, sat down and pressed both hands hard on my head, and crossed my legs. I wanted a Luna at all cost but I also want a Luna who would need me just as much as I need her. And Thelma had told me that she doesn’t like me. And from her body language too, I was afraid that there was some element of truth in it. And the worst was that there was an Alpha convention coming up soon and if I didn’t get to go with my Luna, then it is as good as not going at all. So two things were going to happen. It was either I make her my Luna before the convention starts or find someone else who I would make a Luna and send Thelma packing. Now the question is, which of these is going to happen first?
