Drake’s POV
Finally, I had the opportunity to speak to her face to face. It had not been easy for me to keep avoiding her these past few weeks. The past week had been the worst. I had been sneaking out in the night just to watch her sleep. Admiring and watching her from outside her window was one hell of a job. And now that she was close enough, I realized that there were lots of important features I had missed about her, some details I had guessed wrong. I can’t really describe how pretty she was. She had an angelic face that looked pretty even when she sleeps, more so when she is awake. She had eyes of a rare diamond crystal and the gaze of a fairy queen. Her hair clustered prettily on her slender shoulder and her height gave her off as a girl of elegance and grace. “You haven’t answered me, Pretty.”
She closed her eyes and tightened them up, wrinkling her beautiful tall nose in the process. “Yes. I did.” She opened her eyes. “But would you just fuckin stay there and let us talk?” she asked, arching her beautiful brows. “Please.”
I stopped. My wolf fluttered cheerily in my heart. He was happy to meet her finally. It had been a long time dream for him. “Okay, Pretty,” I said. “What should we talk about?”
She breathed, so loud that you would think she had just taken her last breath. “Are you. . . are you?”
“My name is Drake, the Alpha of the Blood moon pack.” I smiled. I took whatever it was she wanted to ask me from her lips. She looked at me guessingly. Her Diamond eyes narrowed and her beautiful brows aligned.
“You run the pack?”
“Seems like it.” I smiled at her.
She laughed teasingly, exposing her set of beautiful white teeth. “Are you kidding me?”
“I don’t think I have time for kidding around, Pretty,” I told her. “It’s not part of my reputation.”
“Hmm.” She peered at me with those diamond eyes, discerning eyebrows darting around me.
“Well, I know that there are lots of things you don’t know about me and I know you would want to know.”
“Same here.” She inclined her head and it fell graciously on one side. “You know shit about me. So don’t kid yourself. Your biodata might as well be as good as my ass.”
I chuckled, more from the inside than the outside. She was so fuckin outspoken and I loved it. “But that doesn’t exempt the fact that I really wanted to know why I was kept here as a prisoner instead of a godammn mate or something like that. And I also want to know why or maybe whose idea it was for me to be here.”
“Oh,” I said and raised a brow. “Of course, it was my idea.”
“Your idea?”
“Yes.”
“For me to be caged in a store-like room?”
“Of course.”
She allowed her mouth to drop, surprised. “What do you intend to achieve, huh?”
“Tame!”
Her brows arched. “Tame?” she asked. “What do you mean by that?”
“Not a matter of what. It’s a matter of who.”
“Huh?” she bit her lower lip. “Tame who then?”
“Taming you,” I said. “You needed lessons. And before you get fully accepted into this packhouse, there are some tests you need to pass. It’s the same for everyone. If you don’t pass these tests, you can not be fully accepted as a Luna.”
“Jeeez. And who said I give a flying fuck about the position of any goddam Luna?”
“Your father gives one,” I replied. “If not, you wouldn’t have been here.”
She closed her eyes momentarily, accepting defeat. “Look, don’t make this hard than it is already,” I said. “If you want to make your stay here very difficult, then be rest assured that there is Simon who is really ready to see to it. He will be more than happy to do it for free.”
I walked more closely to her. Her eyes burned with azure light, her face reddening. My wolf jumped merrily around in my chest, forcing me to claim her.
‘It is yours to claim now.’
‘Shut it, Uriel.” I told him.
‘You are both alone. Do with her as you please. Swim in her ocean and take her to the land of desires, same you had taken Bridget to.’
‘No, Uriel. Besides, both of them are incomparable.’
‘C’mon, Drake. Don’t be an ass,’ Uriel told me. ‘You know you have it within your intent to do as I have just told you to do. Why are you restraining yourself from claiming her?’ He asked.
‘Allow me to concentrate here.’
‘Your beta might claim her if you don’t.’
“Shut. . . up!” I snarled. I didn’t know when I said it out loud.
“Were you talking to someone?”
“Yes. I was.”
“Who?”
“My wolf.”
“Your wolf?” she asked. “And what did he say?” She asked softly. She seemed interested and I didn’t want to lie to her.
“He told me to claim you,” I told her and purposely left out Simon’s part.
She raised her dark brows, exposing a single line on her forehead. “Excuse me, he what?”
“Yes. He likes you. So very much.”
“B-but, uh-” she sneezed. “Is he, I mean, do you have the same opinion with him or it’s only your wolf that likes me”
I smiled at her question. I leaned even more closely, a breath distance apart. She looked away to her right. “I mean it when I said it before,” I said. “I like you, Pretty.”
She looked up at my face. “Well, I don’t like you, Alpha uhh, Drake.” She pushed at my chest but she straddled back before she found her balance.
I smiled at her. “Do you really mean that?” I asked.
She didn’t answer me. “Could you just go away?” Her eyes darted everywhere around me except to my eyes. I could tell that she didn’t mean what she said.
“But I was here when you came. If you don’t feel too comfortable, you already know your way out.” I gestured with my hand to the door.
She frowned. “And who said that I am ready to leave?” she asked. She moved away from me and began to look around the room.
I chuckled. I watched her as she turned her back at me. The dark short skirt she wore exposed her sweet looking bowlegs and a glamourous skin hidden there. The tight skirt made her curvy ass more defined and in case you don’t want to touch it, it would probably be very difficult to resist.
“Who are they?” she asked. She was looking at the pictures hung up the wall.
“Those are my people.”
“Your people?” she turned, her diamond eyes on me. “What do you mean?”
“They are all from here.”
She looked back at the picture and then back at me. “Are they from the Blood moon pack?”
I nodded.
“So where are they now?” she asked.
I smiled again. “You will soon get to meet them.”
“Oh.” She seemed engrossed in the picture. “And who Is that cute baby over there and the man carrying him?”
I looked up, dipped my hands into my pocket and came a little closer to her. I didn’t remember the last time I had looked at that picture. But that single picture had more significance to me than every other picture in my room. In that single picture, it held a strong memory I can’t quite easily forget. “The man is my father and then the baby is-” Someone walked in through the door.
“Thelma,” Simon shouted, “What exactly are you doing here and how in the world did you escape from that room?”
Thelma frowned at him. I could sense the hatred she had for him already. But she wouldn’t have to hate my beta. Would she?
“I’m talking to you, bitc-” Simon quickly paused and then continued. “You have not answered my question.”
“Simon,” I called him but he ignored me.
“I told you Alpha, this girl deserves to go home.”
“Simon!” I lashed out at him.
He looked back at me immediately and inclined his head in a deliberate bow. “Yes, Alpha.”
“Be mindful of your words.” I turned to Thelma. “Go back to your room. I want to have a few words with him.”
She sucked in her lips, looked at Simon with a frown, turned to regard me and nodded. She left.
