TABITHA’S POV
“Hey Tabitha, wake up”
It was almost midnight when Imogen woke me up from sleep. I groaned and struggled to open my eyes, forgetting what tonight is.
“You don’t want a guard coming to get you, do you?” she whispered even though it was just the two of us.
Oh yes, it is going to be tonight. The alpha would be deciding my fate tonight. I dragged myself out of the bed and stretched my body, making each bone shift and crack.
“You stayed over?” I asked.
“Of course, I did. I would not want the alpha waiting for you” she replied.
I smiled. She had fully recovered and has resumed her duty. She has refused to leave my side since the last incident. Especially after the alpha announced that he was going to decide my fate this midnight.
“I will need to go face the court” I smiled and rubbed my hands over my face.
“Not just you, Lady Violet would be interrogated too. I heard that she is looking really pathetic. Some say she is like a monster” she smirked.
“Come on, Imogen, be nice” I replied and quickly changed into my day wear.
“See, all the servants are ready to testify on your behalf. She brought herself into the boiling water. You were going to pull it on me until she interfered causing you some injuries too. It is clearly her fault” she went on happily.
“She is alpha Jake’s mistress, I have no chance against her. Moreover, what made you believe the alpha would want to try her together with me? You have to get such crazy thoughts out of your head” I reprimanded her.
“That is the rumour going around. I heard Elise is the only witness for lady Violet. And why do you think the alpha did not bother to lock you up?” she smiled.
“We have to leave now, Imogen. The court should sit any moment from now. See it is almost midnight” I said and she followed me out of the door.
We walked down the Packhouse. I was expecting to see some servants going to the courthouse too, but surprisingly, it was as if everywhere was deserted. I sighed. They could not bring themselves to watch my condemnation, and I understand. This is my fight.
I would still repeat the same thing over and over again. I am not sorry one bit. Monsters like Violet should always be kept at their place.
Imogen noticed my anxiety and gripped my hands. She squeezed it softly, assuring me that it will all be well.
When we arrived at the door of the courthouse, I sighed and stopped as I silently said my last prayer to the moon goddess.
“It will be over soon, Tabitha, and I know that nothing will happen to you” Imogen whispered.
I turned to her and smiled faintly. She is still in her prime, and I am ready to bear the brunt for her.
I squeezed her hand too and we walked in quietly.
Getting inside, I was surprised to see that the court was filled up. The servants and the elders were all seated. I looked around for a sigh of them, but none was there. The alpha, Violet, and Elise were nowhere in sight.
As soon as we got in, a guard came over and took me by my hands, and led me to the front. Imogen found a place among the other servants and made herself comfortable.
Within a moment, a guard entered, dragging Violet and Elise with him. He placed them opposite me.
Violet had a veil from head to toe and she bent her head low.
Soon the alpha entered, accompanied by his beta, Robert. Everyone stood until the alpha took his seat.
“You are all welcome to this trial against Miss Violet and Miss Elise…”
Did he just leave my name out of it, or has the alpha decided my fate already even in my absence? My spirit was low. But what was I thinking, that he would place me on the same pedestal with his mistress and try us on the same day? I must be going crazy.
But everyone in the court was as surprised as I was, all looking at the other to know if he has a better explanation of what was going on.
“We will go straight to the event of tonight” beta Robert continued and he looked at me. “Our first and major witness, Tabitha is here and ready to testify”
My jaw dropped. Is he mistaken, me a witness? I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. I looked at beta Robert to be sure that he knows what he was saying, but he only looked at me and urged me to go on.
“On the said day, lady Violet had beaten Imogen mercilessly for serving her a cold tea…” I began.

After everyone was done with their testimony, beta Robert said. “A maid saw Elise pouring some acidic substance into the water and now, I would want the maid to step out” beta Robert revealed.
The room erupted with murmurs and gasps as everyone was surprised to hear of such a heinous act from a lady.
The lady came out and narrated how she saw Elise by the kettle pouring some white substance inside and had not suspected anything until it was revealed that Violet’s skin has been seriously damaged by something order than the hot water.
I was lucky, I have thick layers of skin and it immediately replaces as soon as a layer shades off. This was why the substance did no damage to my skin.
As soon as the witness walked back to her seat, the alpha stood up. “Take off your veil this minute, Violet” he ordered.
Violet hesitated, but with a second look at the furious alpha, she gently pulled off the veil with her eyes shut.
Everyone gasped as soon as Violet’s face was revealed. She was literally, A MONSTER. We all took our eyes away from her as we could not bear to look any longer.
The alpha hissed after a glance at Violet and turned his face away.
“It is a pity that this has to come from someone close to me. But I will not relent from doing justice. Elise here did not put in that substance to harm Violet, she did it to harm Imogen. Violet did not contemplate getting hurt, all she wanted was to see Imogen lifeless…” the alpha paused and took a deep breath. “As heinous as it sounds, she wanted Imogen dead. It is all thanks to Tabitha here that Imogen is still alive and Violet is in this state. My Pack will never condone something of this nature. And for my proclamation, Violet and Elise are hereby banished from Black Moon and the three brothers Packs with immediate effect”
Violet screamed, followed by wailing from Elise. The guards moved over to them and dragged them out of the courtroom. Alpha Fred stood up and walked out followed behind by beta Robert.
Imogen ran from her seat and came to give me a hug. It was still like magic to me. Only a while ago, I was so sure that I was to be condemned, but now I am exonerated and we are finally free from the terror of the alpha’s evil mistress.
I looked up with praises on my lips, now I am glad that I did what I did.
