CHAPTER 93 – SAUCE FOR THE GOOSE…

Book:Luna Between Alphas Published:2024-10-27

TABITHA’S POV
I held on to the kettle carefully. Its handle is hot and the steam from it is enough to unfreeze a block of ice within seconds.
I looked at the faces of all those in the room, each moving their faces away as soon as my gaze fell on them. But it was not the same for Violet. She giggled as soon as my gaze fell on her, and she cast her eyes on Imogen who by this time was groaning helplessly on the floor.
When my gaze arrived at Elise, she shrugged and shook her head, and then she pointed to Imogen and snorted.
I hesitated. Pouring this on poor Imogen would as well amount to killing her because I know that there is no way she would be able to survive it. Her body would not be able to take in so much pain all at once. Being an omega wolf, she would never be able to heal, she will die at the spot.
But then there was no saying what Violet might do to me if I should refuse her. I would not mind whatever she decides to do to me, but what if she turned against all of us and decides to punish everyone instead? What if she pours this water on all of us?
The mere thought of such a possibility got my feet eager and moving once again.
“Go ahead, show her what a hot water should feel like” Violet ordered calmly, her voice filled with spite and mischief.
I began to move to Imogen, taking one leg at a time. My heart bleeds as soon as she managed to raise her head and glanced at me with her blood-filled eyes. I could see through her soul, I know that she was begging me not to go ahead with the order. She desires to live even now that her breathing was shallow and was getting fewer by the seconds.
She moved her legs and made to sit up, but fell down almost immediately and her eyes shut.
“She has passed out,” I said to Violet hoping that this might cause her to have a change of mind.
Violet shrugged. “That would be easier. At least her scream would not disturb the palace” she replied nonchalantly and urged me to go on.
This is sheer evil, brutality beyond my grasp. Not knowing what other stunt to pull, I heaved and closed my eyes for a second. With Imogen unconscious, her body would not be able to fight any pain, she will die even before the water reaches her.
I was still engrossed in deep thought when I felt a push from behind and I staggered and almost landed on Imogen with the kettle in my hand shaking and ready to pour.
If I had not been careful, the kettle would have slipped away from my grip and the content would have landed on Imogen. But what difference does it make anyway, it will soon get to her no matter how long it took.
“Move, old lady” Elise mocked.
I looked at her, she is lucifer’s incarnate. I immediately turned my gaze away. By this time, I was already in front of the unconscious Imogen.
ELISE’S POV
“She has passed out,” Tabitha drew the attention of Violet to Imogen.
She was trying to sit up before she finally landed on the ground and then I had expected her to rise again but she did not move.
I felt a mixture of pain and fear almost immediately. It was as if my heart tried to slam out of my chest. I wanted to protest and stop her from going on with this madness.
What if Imogen dies and the alpha gets to find out about it? There is every possibility that he would forgive Violet, but I know deep down that I will not be left to go scot-free. But then, who will trace this to me? I shrugged.
The alpha had always made it known in several ways possible that I do not enjoy the same privileges as Violet. This always made me feel bad but then, I will deal with that later on. It is a matter for some other day. The day when I will lead him to his doom and claim his throne with mine.
“That would be easier. At least her scream would not disturb the palace” Violet replied without a hitch of fear or care.
I had to act strong. I don’t want to appear like a weakling before Violet, let alone before her maids.
Even if Imogen should die, I did not lift a finger against her. It was Violet that had beaten her to stupor while Tabitha poured the hot water on her under Violet’s watch. I did nothing in it all, at least nothing that anyone can point at.
Having arrived at the above resolution, I reached for Tabitha who had been walking like a snail for like eternity, and pushed her from the back.
I intended that she landed on Imogen and that the hot water would pour on the both of them as I wanted to see Tabitha in deep pain which has always been my earnest desire. I cursed inside of me as I watched Tabitha swiftly regain her balance and held the kettle firmly.
I sighed, she was lucky but she might not be next time. Anyways, maybe I should make do with just Imogen’s agony for today. “Move, old lady” I taunted her.
She looked at me and turned her face away as if I was not even there. She was already standing beside Imogen and the kettle was over Imogen. The sight of this gladdened my soul.
“Don’t push me, Tabitha. The water is getting cold” Violet warned fiercely.
I felt this great and unexplainable joy inside of me. My eyes shone brightly as I eagerly awaited the scene that was about to unfold.
“She always claims that she is the smart one. But sadly that could only work on the weakling of a luna” I spat and moved closer to Violet.
Violet giggled and held me by the shoulders. “I have it all packed up for them. They are servants and should be put in their place” Violet concurred in delight.
Tabitha looked at us one more time before proceeding to open the cover of the kettle not minding the boiling steam.
But then, something was not right, I am very sure that it was a smirk that I saw on her face just now. What the hell is she planning to do? I looked at Violet to know if she had seen it too, but she was all smiles. Obviously, she had not seen it or maybe I was only hallucinating.
TABITHA’S POV
I listened as they made jest of us servants, but not with hate this time, but with extreme pleasure.
I am done with anyone trying to put me down, I will no more be made a pawn for her selfish desires.
I know exactly what to do. Imogen cannot take this hot water, but I can. I will heal in just a couple of minutes and would be left with no scar. But I have to make it appear like an accident, one that is entirely my fault.
I intentionally looked at them to make sure that there noticed. And then I placed my hands on top of the kettle and gently pulled its cover away. The steam was burning even for my immune skin.
“See you got a hold on hot water,” Elise taunted.
It was obvious that she was trying to unravel my intention. She is the smart one, way smarter than Violet. But I ignored her as what I needed at the moment was Violet’s reaction.
She was right, no ordinary wolf would be able to be this close to steam this hot. But I am different when it comes to hotness.
In furtherance to my ploy, I raised the kettle up and made to look beneath it, and just then as I had envisaged, Violet screamed. “Get on with it this minute, asshole”
“I… I thought… I saw something” I stammered, looking from her to the kettle.
She was furious and she dashed towards me. It was when she was already at my side that I pretended to tremble in fear pouring the hot water on me but not without making sure that a generous quantity landed on her body.
She screamed and landed on the ground while I stood watching her. A loud scream further escaped from her lips as soon as her butts got on the floor. She had sat on the steaming water. She tried to get up, but her leg slipped, bringing her whole body to the ground and I pour the rest of the water on me, deliberately leaning towards her.
Elise stood with mouth agape, watching. She was confused for the first few seconds, and it was immediately she recovered from the shock that she rushed to Violet. She felt the steam from the floor and ran off almost immediately.
When she ran off, she started to push the maids into the scene one after another, commanding them to rescue Violet. And when she saw that none would succumb, she resulted in crying and begging but this yielded no result.
In all this, I made sure that none of the hot water got to Imogen. Having achieved my innermost desire, I closed my eyes and collapsed on the floor. My body would need all the time it can get to heal completely.
