VIOLET’S POV
It is 2 pm and I have been waiting here in the spring for more than twenty minutes. Now I am beginning to doubt if Jake would agree to meet me up here.
I did not reveal my real identity in the letter, I had written it anonymously as a random concerned member of the Pack. I had not given out much detail about the meeting either but had only stated that it will be for the good of the Pack if he should meet with me and hear all that I had to say.
But he is a man of honour, isn’t he? And so he must be available once there is an important issue about the Pack. Or is it that he suspects that I am the writer? Maybe he did and if that is it, I might as well just give up my waiting because there is no way he is going to be here to meet with me.
Having arrived at my decision, I decided to move around the spring and admire its natural bliss. It is so beautiful. Its colours are bright and it looks so devoid of worries. This is nature and it is the best place to be.
Maybe I may not be able to meet Jake here today, but then, I am free with the waters. It calls on me, asking me to come into it and feel its calmness. I might have lost so many other things, but not the peace that the water brings.
It is 2:10 pm already and now I am sure that there is no way that Jake would be here. It is either of two things, either he did not find the letter yet, or he had read the letter and felt there was no need to be here as he is not a person to be late for an event.
I took off my clothes and left in my lingerie, I walked slowly into the water. I am going to remain here until night. However, not in expectation of Jake but to have a relaxing time.
ALPHA JAKE’S POV
I was some distance away from the spring when I saw a lady walk into the water. It is already 2:10 pm and maybe the sender of the letter has left the spring.
When I found the letter inside my suite and had gone through it, at first I was reluctant to come here. I felt a bit skeptical about the whole arrangement.
What could be very important for a member of my Pack to tell me that cannot be written in a letter, or why can’t the person demand to have a meeting with me at the official place, my chambers?
At first, my mind wandered to Violet. She was the only person that I could think of when it comes to pulling such stunts. But now she is changed right, just as my luna claims? She would never think of meeting me. She had never attempted to meet me ever since she became close to my luna, Scarlet. So there was no way she would be the one behind the anonymous letter.
Having ruled out the possibility of the letter coming from Violet, I became more anxious to know who the sender is and the reason for it.
But what got me even more worried was how someone could intrude into the Packhouse without notice. I had asked the guards but they said there was no unusual person in the Packhouse today. And for Violet, there is no way she would have come to the Packhouse knowing that the luna would not be around.
Seeing only a lady in the spring, I wanted to turn around and leave but on second thought, I decided to go close to her, maybe she might have met the stranger that was waiting for me.
“Hello, young lady” I called out to the lady who had her back turned to me.
Even from her back, I felt as if she is someone I know and it did not take a long time for me to realize that truly she is someone I know because on hearing my voice, she turned to face me.
“Violet” I murmured.
What could she be doing here, or was it just a coincidence to meet her here?
“My alpha” she murmured in response.
“Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if there is any young man that you met here,” I said.
I have no other choice but to engage in this conversation with her because left to me, I would rather not speak to her. She can succeed in fooling Scarlet and the rest, but for me, there is no way I would believe that she is not the same old Violet who is always out for some havoc.
“Some young man?” she asked and started walking out of the water.
“See there is no need for you to come out. You can continue to enjoy your relaxation” I said.
“No matter how uncultured I am I cannot be seen talking to my alpha in the water” she responded and continued to proceed towards me.
Why is she acting like the good girl? Sincerely I am more comfortable when she is the bad one. At least with that, I would know just how to handle her.
“What is my alpha’s question again?” she asked when she stood in front of me.
“I am supposed to meet with a young man here, see it was supposed to be by 2 pm but I could not help it. So if you had seen him, you can tell me where he had gone to” I replied.
“No, my alpha. Even though I have not been here for too long, I doubt if there was any man waiting here for you” she replied.
“Okay, then I must be on my way now. Maybe I will meet with him some other time and at some other place,” I said.
Without waiting for a response from her, I turned to go. It was already enough that I have to be alone with her at this lonely place and in this circumstance. Now I can’t let it linger on any further. I have had her before and there is no saying what I might do if I should remain here with her unchecked.
“Not so soon, my alpha” she called.
I turned to her. “There is nothing to remain here for,” I told her.
“Why not just hold on a little, you said you were here to meet with someone, right?” she requested.
“And now there is no need waiting” I responded and started to walk away.
“Alpha Ray rejected Scarlet… I mean the luna” she called out.
“What?” I turned to her in anger.
“I know you asked me not to, but you have to wait to hear all that I have to say” she appealed.
“I didn’t ask you not to, I ordered you to desist from such you fool” I yelled.
“I am sorry, alpha, but she would not have accepted you if Alpha Ray had not rejected her call to save her from you” she continued.
“Shut up, you bitch. Keep quiet” I warned.
“She did not know who you are and she never wanted to have anything to do with you” she persisted.
In anger, I charged at her and held her throat. I had so much anger in me that all I want to do is strangle her. I want to end her miserable life and make her pay for daring to go against my command.
But she did not give up, she continued to reveal all that she had discovered even as she struggled to breathe under me.
“Stop it, Violet, stop it. I could drown you in this water and no one will ever find your body” I threatened.
“She is an ordinary girl, Jake, the least in her Pack and even beta Tim rejected her and treated her even worse than a slave” she revealed.
“You said what?” I murmured.
‘Rejected?’ this does not sound right. What is she even saying, Scarlet, my Scarlet, rejected? Terrified, I let go of her.
She started to cough as she made an attempt to reply to me.
“That is the truth, Jake. She has a frail wolf, the worse. Her family rejected her and she grew up under Mama Ruth, Lara’s mother” she finally said.
“No…” I screamed. “That is not true. There is no way that what you are saying is true”
I was losing it. I had always known that something was not right somewhere but I never thought it could be this bad. I mean what kind of a family would give out their daughter under the period of two weeks and since then none of them has even reached out to her?
They did not even demand anything for her and they never thought of her meeting me first before agreeing to my proposal. They did not even consider the fact that she might have a mate waiting for her somewhere. The whole thing was just so easy that I had thought luck was on my side.
“She lived in a state of perpetual fear and torment. Look at her body, why do you think that she always covers it? She is hiding the scars, she is hiding the past” she continued.
Her body? I am just realizing that I have not actually seen her skin before. She is always very conscious of it and would use a veil if she had to wear a cloth that would reveal any part of her body.
“Have you ever thought of her relationship with Rich? Why do you think he came along with her? Okay yes, he is truly her trainer. But there is more to it. In your naive mind, you are thinking that you are keeping your precious little wife for the right time not knowing that Rich is doing a very good job with her. What is the extra room for? Which luna keeps an extra room even after having a huge room to herself” she asked.
