“Definition of what?” I whispered to Rose to understand what the teacher was talking about.
“Oxymoron” she whispered back. I breathe in and stood up. Atleast I knew what that was and won’t be embarrassing myself.
“An oxymoron is a figure of speech that juxtaposes concepts with opposing meanings within a word or phrase that creates an ostensible self-contradiction. Also, an oxymoron can be used as a rhetorical device to illustrate a rhetorical point or to reveal a paradox” I expounded.
“Good you knew that, sit down but focus here Rhoda your mind wasn’t in what I was teaching so don’t think you can deceive me with the definition you just gave because I saw you asking your friend what I was talking about” he scolded.
I nodded and apologized sitting down. Gosh this man could be so difficult most times.
Soon the recession bell rang after we had three other subjects after the English and all through the class, I couldn’t concentrate on any of what the teachers were saying.
I rushed out of the class immediately the bell rang ignoring Rose who was calling out to me.
Damn it felt as though I was in the oven with those burning gaze fixed on my back.
“Whoa what’s going on Rhoda” Rose asked running out after me.
“It’s nothing, I was just hot and needed air badly so I had to rush out because I felt chocked” I explained.
“Let’s go then, the boys must be waiting already” she said, held my arms around together we walked to the cafeteria.
Rose and I got to the cafeteria where Luca and Max was already seated James didn’t join us because he wasn’t in school, probably still with his mate that is if she didn’t reject him.
I was still angry at Luca for what happened that night but I knew it wasn’t his fault and I had to forgive him.
“Hi” he greeted nervously not meeting my gaze. I smiled at him, held his hands and squeezed it a little to ease his nervousness.
“I’m sorry for what happened, I could have rejected and faced the consequences” he grieved, his eyes getting watery.
“That’s okay Luca, I have forgiven you and am not really angry at you okay so cheer up and go order our food” I said and he nodded, stood up and went to the counter after collecting our orders.
I glanced around the cafeteria, it was filled up with students who were eating while chattering among themselves.
The J3 boys were right there sitting on their table having a discussion. I stare at the side view of my worst night mare who became my knight in shining armor last night.
He looked calm and deadly handsome. Just as if acting on impulse, he raised his head and our eyes jammed.
He gave me his trademark smirk that he always have on whenever he is thinking naughty. And here I was thinking he changed for good. I rolled my eyes at him and looked away from him.
I picked up the bottle water in front of Rose, gulped it down and breathe in.
Rose was conversing with her boyfriend leaving me all alone to myself. I brought out my phone and logged in to my social media account, checking feeds when I felt a presence hover over me.
Looking up, I frowned on seeing who it was. After what she did at the party, she had the guts to show her face here and who the hell are those behind her carrying her bags and food.
“I can see you’ve gotten yourself some minions” Rose scorned and Max chuckled, Luca had returned with the food and is now holding my hands to prevent me from flaring up.
“What are you doing here Lisa” I asked and she took her glaring eyes away from Rose then Smirked at my question.
“I came to know how you are fairing you know, the shock you received at the party how are you coping?” she snickered.
“Well you have seen that, so you should leave here. You can see we are having our lunch and don’t need any disturbance Luca clearly didn’t even enjoying your lame mouth job” I said, mocking her, her face squeezed in anger.
“Wherever, What happened there was just a warning from me to you Rhoda, stay away from my man and I won’t be hurting you” she said.
“Girl you are clearly not good for him that was why he was after Rhoda. Learn some manners and tell your slutty boyfriend to stick his dicks in his pants and leave my girlfriend the hell alone.
“Oh! I forgot this, work on your face well enough since the one you did clearly couldn’t help you keep a man” Rose snapped dropping her phone angrily.
“Yes go away from here you amateur and do not forget to pass the information to your so called boyfriend who doesn’t even give two shits about you but follow around my pretty girlfriend whom he can’t even get” Luca added scornfully and she stomped out angrily with her minion following behind her.
We all laughed at her expression. She looked like someone who swallowed water through the wrong hole” Max laughed.
“Hahahahah that is even better, she obviously looked like she would pull out this cafeteria building with one fist” Rose chimed.
I looked over at Jayden’s table to see him staring at me. He probably saw what happened with Lisa.
I was about rolling my eyes when he stood up, my heart skipped three bits if I could count well as I thought he was going to come to our table and start his bully but I was stunned when he just walked out of the cafeteria with his friends.
“What’s wrong Rhoda why are you staring outside?” Luca asked and I blinked my eyes and returned my gaze to the table.
“It’s nothing, Let’s just continue with our food, we’ve spent time talking to her and Luca also delayed with the food, I wouldn’t want the recession to be over when I haven’t had anything” I voiced and started digging in without waiting for anyone.
