RAPHAEL
I sighed heavily the moment I cut the call. Leila’s words were still drifting into my mind. Ofcourse I knew Nicole wouldn’t dare to have any thing amorous to be with another man. She wouldn’t cheat on me not even for all the millions in the world.
I was very obvious of the fact that Leila still had feelings for me. Even though she thought I didn’t know. It was radiating off her. I knew when a female was attracted to me. It was so easy to get under their skirts and between their legs. It was never a problem. But my marriage to Nicole changed me and changed the way I felt about the opposite sex and love.
I would do any thing to keep Nicole happy. I can’t even spare a second glance at any woman. That woman has caged my soul, my body and my heart. Nicole would never try to cheat on me.
Leila was just trying to turn me against Nicole and make me read meanings to things that aren’t even true.
I bolted up from my seat in a flash. Before she called, my capos had informed me that Diego’s location had been found.
The fucker had been in hiding ever since he recieved the decapitated body of Estaban. A devilish smile drew itself on my lips whenever I remember how I killed Estaban.
And that’s how I plan to kill every single person that tries to harm my family. But before killing Diego, I’ll make sure I extract vital information from him.
The asshole knew where my exact location would be in Mexico before sending his assassins. How did he know that?
Diego was clearly not working alone.
Could it be Ivan who he partnered with? I won’t be surprised because Ivan was always getting on my nerves.
Somebody on the inside that knew of my location snitched on me.
I promise to give whoever the rat is such a painful, gory death but I must first get all the information from Diego.
Having that in mind, I grabbed my car keys from the desk and walked outside.
Igniting the engine, I drove in a state of haste to Diego’s safe house.
Belonging to the mafia means you should always have more than one abode. Any thing can happen at any moment. Diego really thought that one through.
I drove speedily on the road until I had got to my destination. Killing the engine, I pushed open the car door, but not before grabbing my gun.
I wasn’t here for games.
My men had already surrounded the area and disarmed Diego’s guards.
I spotted ruby red stains of blood on the wall.
A wry smile crept on to my face. They must have had a gun brawl.
My capos were standing on arrival for me. Thomas was the first to walk up to me.
Feeding me on the information, he spoke, “Took you a while to come. Diego is in there”
“He was probably fucking a whore imagining her as Nicole” Dante spat whilst tucking in his gun behind his pants.
He strode ahead of me whilst I rolled my eyes at his comment.
Straightening my suit, I faced Marco and Lorenzo. “Has Ivan been up to any tricks lately?”
“None that we know off” Lorenzo replied.
My eyes narrowed to Marco.
“He seems awfully quiet in his activities” Marco concurred.
That wasn’t good. Well it was but at the same time it wasn’t.
Some thing was definitely brewing up.
“Let’s go deal with Diego first” I nodded.
I sauntered in with my men forming a flank around me. There were broken glasses on the floor, broken furnitures too and blood stains decorated the walls.
It must have been a fierce shoot out.
I’ll inquire if we lost any of our men after dealing with Diego so as to send compensation to each one of their families.
Seating on a king sized milky couch was Diego. His eyes danced with rage upon capturing my gaze.
I watched his jaws clench and unclench to my own amusement.
I liked seeing him looking this helpless. The feeling I got was like pouring water to a parched throat.
Coming closer, I noticed his nose was bleeding and his shirt torn.
He probably tried to put up a fight.
Ignoring his baleful stares, I walked over to the mini bar in the room and poured myself a glass of Hennessey.
“Diego Perez. Isn’t it lovely seeing you once again?” I asked with my tongue in cheek before seating opposite him.
Diego shot me a frosty glare and attempted to stand but one of men pointed a gun at him.
“Raphael am I an enemy that you come to my house with your goons, have them disrupt my peace and kill my guards?” Diego rhetorically asked.
I chuckled and gulped down the contents of the wine glass I held.
Dropping it onto the vanity table, I stared at the Diego in the eye. “Diego you did something to me which I find very disrespectful”
“And what is that you son of a whore!?” He yelled, hitting his fist on the arm rest of his couch.
He was being ballsy. If he knew what would happen to him, if he had the tiniest idea of what I had in store for him, he would cut his tongue and be as obedient as a dog.
“Diego if I were you, I would mind how you speak” I gave a lopsided smile which faded the moment it appeared.
Going straight to the point, I stood up from the sofa and brought out my gun.
I watched his reaction with curious eyes. He jerked slightly.
The sight was refreshing.
“You sent hit men to gun down I and my wife”
He looked unfazed by my words.
“And how sure are you that I was responsible for that unfortunate event?”
“Diego I’m not a fool. Do not underestimate what I can do to you. I’ll advise you to stop playing smart because in the coming days, I’ll have your insides spilled on to the soil” I seethed in anger.
The tremor in him rose and his breathing became rapid.
“You must have seen the gift I sent to you. I perfectly butchered Estaban. It was a beautiful sight wasn’t it?” I maniacally inquired, leaning closer to Diego.
“Estaban was such a fool for not being more careful” Diego muttered underneath his breath.
“My flight crew, those lying bastards you paid to stall my flight revealed it to me. Well I must inform you that I murdered both of them–the co-pilot and the air hostess” I told him.
A cackle left his groggy throat.
“You kill people Raphael and now you want to kill me for trying to kill you?”
“No not now my dear friend” I patted his shoulder.
Sitting back on to the sofa, I placed my hands on my thighs. “I told you to stop that disgusting child trafficking trade of yours and yet the business still runs in the heart of Mexico. Diego you are just fueling my desire to have you executed”
“You’ve soiled your hands in blood Raphael. The amount of blood you have on your hands is far greater than mine and you come to my house and act like the saint! Look at you that kill and murder trying to act like you are some sort of saint or messiah in my house” Diego yelled, his nostrils flaring in anger.
“Oh I am no saint Diego. I’ve done vile things and yes I kill but I would never harm a child. What you are doing to those poor children makes you an even greater sinner than I am” I rolled the words slowly out of my mouth.
He huffed at me, passing me murderous glances.
I stood up and sauntered towards him. Gripping him by the collar, I yanked him up and pushed him to the ground violently.
“How did you know of my exact location at Mexico Diego? I won’t repeat myself”
Diego winced in pain and held onto his now broken arm.
I walked over to him and furiously stepped on his arm causing him to scream. I could hear sounds of bones breaking.
“Should I repeat myself?” I venomously spat.
“You think you are smart Raphael….” Diego coughed and cackled.
“Your enemies lie within you. I am not the one you should be killing. I only did what was best for myself the same way you would do what is best for your mafia” he spoke before letting out a groan.
I kicked his sides causing him to cough out blood.
“Bloody asshole. I swear I’ll enjoy killing you slowly limb by limb. You had the guts to continue your disgusting trade, send hit men to gun down I and my wife and you thought I’ll let you go for scot free? You are so wrong Diego. I won’t be surprised if you were the one who sent a gunman to kill my mother!”
Diego writhed in pain, blood trailing out of his mouth and staining his teeth before he spoke. “I didn’t kill Maya Raphael. If I were you, I’ll be more careful of the people around me. Your family will ruin you!”
Fuck this motherfucker. I punched him severally in the groins watching him scream out in agony.
“Take him with us to the cellar. That will be his new home from now on” I ordered my men.
A half unconscious Diego was dragged out of the room, a nasty trail of blood following him.
“Raphael do you realise what Diego meant?” Luca asked.
“Yes I do” I replied.
“There is an enemy within us. And this enemy is closer and more dangerous than we think”
