CHAPTER 64 : THE VILLAGE

Book:The Omega's Cursed Alpha Twin Mates Published:2024-10-27

Bryan and Aiden were currently in Iceland and on their way to a village called Reykholt. What they had wanted to tell Kira two days ago was about their business trip to an undeveloped village in Iceland and how they would be there for a week.
They had also informed her that she would be the one in charge of the pack. Well, she is the Luna after all, but she is the one to take full control, since they would be gone for a whole week, and she still had some things to learn. She also had Ryker with her and as a fast learner, they were sure she would do well and pick up things fast.
The day of Bryan’s and Aiden’s trip arrived, and they bid Kira goodbye with kisses and hugs, before they left. Kira already missed them as they departed, and they, in turn, missed her just as dearly.
Welcome to Reykholt!
The sign they had passed while going into the village had that written boldly on it, the engine of their car purring softly as they drove into the old village. It may be old and not developed, but the landscape was beautiful, with rugged mountains and the rest.
As they entered the village, the quaint charm of Reykholt greeted them. Thatched-roof cottages with smoke curling from chimneys, the sound of laughter and lively conversation all around and most, especially the earthy aroma of wood smoke and fresh bread.
It had been a while since Bryan and Aiden had visited a place like this. It brought back some memories too.
“I would have thought places like this did not exist seeing as how everything is now being developed every day,” Aiden said to his brother who smiled and responded.
“Places like this do exist all over the world, I won’t be surprised if I were to see more. The world can equally be full of surprises.”
“That’s true,” Aiden nodded, fully understanding what Bryan meant. “Anyway, it’s good to be here. It feels like another world entirely,” he said and chuckled.
“It sure does,” Bryan agreed as they finally parked their car somewhere suitable and got down.
Some people watched them but seeing how they dressed in unassuming shirts of soft fabric and study trousers, they appeared as ordinary villagers with a touch of wealth.
Bryan and Aiden wanted to blend in with the villagers and aside from their touch of wealth, they were doing a pretty good job. It wasn’t their first time in a place like this, so that could add to why they were able to fit in so well.
The cobbled streets were alive with activity, just as it always is; women in long skirts gathering herbs, while men exchanged tales over mugs of frothy ale outside the tavern. There were just so many things happening all at once.
After a brief stroll, Bryan and Aiden spotted a cozy tavern with a wooden sign that read The Hidden. Quite an unusual name for a tavern, but they went in anyway. The place was illuminated with torchlight at the entrance, and they were welcomed with its warm interior.
“This is a perfect place to settle for the night,” Aiden said to Bryan as he took in the place and approached the stout barkeeper. He then placed a handful of shimmering coins on the counter. “Two rooms for the night, if you please,” he said, his voice confident and steady.
“Yes Sir, your rooms will be ready soon,” the stout barkeeper informed them and took the money.
Soon their rooms were indeed ready and after the settlement of the payment, the barkeeper handed them a set of keys. They took the keys and made their way up a narrow staircase.
“I thought we paid for two rooms?” Bryan asked Aiden as they walked into the room, only to see two beds instead.
“Let’s just go with it,” Aiden sighed tiredly, wanting to get some rest, after their long flight and it was already evening. “Plus, the room is small but welcoming and we both each have our own separate beds. We even stay in the same room back at home.”
“Alright.” Bryan said, letting it go, before they started unpacking their belongings. He just did not like feeling like they were cheated. That’s all.
Once settled, they decided to check out what the tavern had to offer, especially in terms of what they would have for dinner, and so they made their way downstairs to the common room.
They checked the menu and saw the featured traditional dishes: a rich lamb stew with root vegetables and freshly baked rye bread.
“This looks delicious. We should try it,” Bryan suggested to Aiden, who already wanted them to try it.
So, they ended up ordering the stew and the baked rye bread.
As they waited for their food, they observed the atmosphere silently as a minstrel strummed a lute in the corner.
Dinner was over soon enough and after enjoying their meal and the sound of the lute being played, they pushed back their chairs, satisfied, and returned to their room.
Once inside their room, Aiden stretched, his muscles stiff, while Bryan opened the small window they had in the room, letting in some cool, fresh Icelandic air.
“We should call Kira before we settle in and sleep,” Aiden reminded Bryan, who was about to jump into bed.
As they were about calling her, the phone rang and it was her calling. A soft smile played on their lips as Bryan picked and put the call on loudspeaker so that Aiden could also be a part of the conversation.
“We arrived safely, love,” Aiden told her. “Sorry for not reaching out immediately, we were just about too. How are you and how’s everything in the pack?” He asked.
“It’s alright my loves, everything is going well here, and I am fine,” she reassured them. “Just missing you both, and it’s only been half a day or so.”
“We miss you too, love,” Bryan muttered, “And we are glad you are doing fine.”
“I hope that place is treating you both well,” Kira inquired from them.
“Don’t worry, it is,” Bryan answered.
They spent a few more moments talking over the phone, before they finally decided to let each other get some rest after the day they had all had. Although, there was a little time difference, so they would be going to bed before Kira since they were now ahead in time.
“Goodnight love, we will rest now,” Bryan said softly.
“We will call you again tomorrow, baby,” Aiden said right after. “Goodnight. I love you.”
“And I love you more,” Bryan added, making Kira giggle softly.
“I love you both too, Goodnight.”
