“He was awake?” Kira asked herself in her mind as the realization hit her. She had no idea he had been awake the whole time. Heat crept up Kira’s neck and bloomed across her cheeks.
“You were pretending to sleep this whole time?” She asked him, her voice a soft whisper as she was caught between disbelief and embarrassment. “You really might even be able to play dead… Jeez, Bryan.”
“I didn’t want to miss the show,” he replied, chuckling softly.
“You were really getting it hard,” he added, making her unable to contain her blush, her skin tingling from his gaze and words.
“Well…” she swallowed hard, but instead of shrinking away, she met his eyes with a defiant smile. “Maybe next time, you can also do the same or more or whatever,” she quipped, her tone daring.
Although she sounded confident about her dare, deep down she was very nervous, and her heart raced.
“A dare is a dare, and this one, I won’t decline,” Bryan accepted, giving her a peck on the lips. “Sleep, you must be so exhausted,” he said to her, a hint of teasing in his tone as he chuckled right after.
“Yes, let’s get some sleep,” Aiden murmured, pulling Kira closer into his arms and resting his chin on the top of her head. “You really drained me, love…uhh.”
“Seriously?” Kira laughed at Aiden’s remark, “You know what? I am too sleepy to be teased by both of you. Good night!”
The room fell into a peaceful and comfortable silence as Kira closed her eyes, ignoring them, all the while feeling heated up. Soon enough, the three of them drifted off into a deep sleep.
Morning came soon, with the light seeping through the curtains and across the room, waking Kira up. She blinked her eyes open, feeling the warmth of the blankets still wrapped around her, but not the warmth of her two Alpha mates.
After she reached out for them was when she realized their sides were both empty. She then stretched lazily, still feeling a tad sleepy, before she propped herself up on her elbows, looking around.
“Where are you off to?” she asked sleepily, her voice groggy as she finally saw her mates, who were already dressed and standing near the doorway, talking quietly.
Aiden turned, on hearing her voice, thinking she was still asleep because they did not want to wake her up just yet. He walked over to her side and ruffled her hair. “We have a meeting with Alpha Lucien. The Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack,” he explained.
“It’s about the Vampires, and we need to discuss some things with him.” Bryan joined them, arranging her hair, which Aiden had scattered. “We will be back before evening,” he added, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. “Just in time for dinner.”
Kira sat up fully now, her expression softening as she spoke. “I would like to visit my parents’ graves today. I was going to inform you both yesterday, but a lot happened, and it slipped my mind,” she said quietly.
Both brothers paused upon hearing her speak and noticing the hint of sadness in her voice. Their eyes immediately softened at her words, and Aiden sat beside her, taking her hand gently.
“It’s okay, and of course, amore,” he whispered, kissing her knuckles. “We will make sure to finish the meeting and be back in time to go with you.”
Bryan nodded, his hand resting on her shoulder. “We will be with you, anytime you want.”
“Thank you.” She smiled softly at them, not wanting any of their mornings to start off sad. “I would love for you two to be with me, so after dinner we can go. Be back in time.”
“Yes Ma’am.” Bryan and Aiden responded.
“And also, don’t forget you have training this morning, it’s almost time,” Bryan told her with a small grin. “Make sure you are ready.”
“I know, I know,” Kira groaned and rolled her eyes playfully, making Aiden chuckle softly as he leaned in to kiss her cheek. “He is right, though. You will need your strength.”
Subsequently, Aiden stood, brushing his lips softly against hers in a sweet kiss. “We will see you later, okay?” he whispered.
“Okay.” Kira smiled and nodded, her heart swelling.
Bryan, not to be outdone, placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before giving her a wink. “Don’t miss us too much,” he teased as they turned to leave.
“I won’t,” Kira answered while laughing softly, before they finally left the room.
Now, it was time for her to get her ass up, get dressed and go to training.
The day had gone by quickly, and now Kira found herself sitting at the dining table with Orion and Elara who sat across from her, engaged in a light conversation. They had already started eating the roasted vegetables and freshly baked bread that were for dinner, after figuring out that Bryan and Aiden might be a bit late.
It was not until ten minutes after they started eating that Bryan and Aiden walked in. They gave Kira a smile as they took their seats, also getting ready to eat, as they were quite famished.
“Welcome. How did the meeting go?” Kira asked, hoping for something positive.
“It went as well as we could hope,” Bryan answered, pouring himself a glass of water. “The vampires have not disturbed Alpha Lucien’s pack, and so far, no other packs have reported any attacks or confrontations.”
Aiden nodded, cutting into his food. “It seems like we are the main target for now. No one knows what they are planning, but we will stay on alert.”
“Why only us?” Kira wondered, her brows furrowing in thought, but she decided to push the question aside for later.
The conversation soon shifted to lighter topics as they ate, and before one would know it, dinner was over.
“I bought some flowers earlier,” Kira said softly to her mates. “I would like us to go now, if that’s okay.”
“Of course,” Bryan answered immediately. “Whenever you’re ready, we are.”
Kira smiled and got up, smoothing down her dress as the maids came to clear out the table. “I will go get dressed,” she said, glancing at Bryan and Aiden. “I’ll meet you downstairs when I’m done.”
“We will be waiting,” Aiden said as she excused herself.
Upstairs, Kira changed into a black dress, while staring at the flowers she had bought earlier. She went on to tie her hair back and slip on her jacket. The visit was long overdue, but she was glad she had Bryan and Aiden by her side.
When she was done, she picked up the flowers and left the room, going downstairs where Bryan and Aiden were waiting for her. As she reached the bottom step, Aiden gave her a soft smile, holding out his hand for her to take.
“Ready?” Bryan asked, his eyes filled with understanding.
Kira nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat. “Ready.”
