Kira nodded, and before they knew it, she slept off.
Bryan and Aiden had to round up everything, wash their body calmly, including helping her dry off.
Carefully, Bryan carried her to the room all dried up and laid her down in the middle of the bed.
She was fast asleep. She really needed the rest. He then kissed her forehead and got up from the bed, going to put on some clothes while waiting for Aiden to come out.
“You know we have to go see Morane,” Bryan said to Aiden, immediately he stepped out. “We haven’t gone to see her since that day, she should be expecting us.”
“That’s true,” Aiden agreed, and started getting dressed too. “We do have to see her.”
After getting dressed, Aiden kissed Kira on her forehead just like Bryan had done earlier and thereafter, they left.
They reached Morane’s home in less than twenty minutes and were welcomed in.
“Alphas, I thought you would not be coming anymore,” She said to them, offering them a seat, which they took this time.
“Apologies, Morane,” Aiden said on behalf of himself and his brother. “We were going to come as soon as we could, a lot has happened these few weeks.”
“I could tell,” Morane said to them, taking a seat, opposite theirs. “Your mate has finally accepted you and everything seems to be going well.”
“Yes, that is true,” Bryan confirmed.
“Have the curse shown any signs? Anything strange happened?” Morane asked them.
“Except for when we nearly lost control and used the injections, nothing else has happened.” Bryan told her.
“No, something happened. The night when we heard a whisper, it was very strange, but this happened long before Kira accepted us as her mates,” Aiden said, explaining more to get Bryan to also remember.
“Oh, yes, that is true. The voice, I think, said something like, this is just the beginning. It happened very fast,” Bryan explained to Morane, finally remembering.
Morane exhaled softly and looked at them, “That is very strange, and we can’t know who it was, I don’t have the means either. But aside from that, nothing happened?”
“Nothing!” Bryan and Aiden told her. “The curse has been dormant, it has not shown any sign.”
“Hmm… Do you think your mate accepting you might have broken the curse? Like the story of sleeping beauty kiss and things like that?” Morane asked them, her brain working fast, to put the pieces together.
“We never thought about that. Do you think that would be possible? Is the curse really gone?” Aiden asked her, wanting to start feeling relieved.
“There is only one way to find out,” Morane muttered and got up, moving closer to them. “Relax your body, breathe calmly,” she instructed, and they did just as they were told.
Shortly after, she placed her hands on their chest. One on Bryan’s chest and the other at Aiden’s chest as she closed her eyes.
Bryan and Aiden also closed their eyes and let their breathing be calm as Morane said a few words before finally removing her hands and opening her eyes.
“I can still feel the energy of the curse. It is not gone yet,” she told them. “Which means, Luna Kira accepting you both as her mates, did not help break the curse, but maybe it did help make it a bit dormant. But the question we should be asking ourselves is, for how long will it remain that way?”
Bryan sighed and ruffled his hair, “At this point, I really don’t know what should be done anymore. Ryker is back and still no answers or leads, and you, you are supposed to be one of the strongest witches I know. How come you can’t find out what all this is all about and how to break it?” He asked Morane, his tone hinting some disappointment and annoyance.
“Morane, we trust you to find a way to fix this. It would be really good for once if we do not come to you and leave disappointed.” Aiden said more calmly than Bryan. “Most especially, we do not want this curse to hurt our mate. We know maybe we should have kept our distance, but we can’t.”
“We understand this curse or energy is much stronger than any magic you have ever come in contact with,” Bryan said to her, after calming himself down. “But even if we get just a lead, just one lead or information, it can really help us a lot, but we have none, so please understand my frustration with all these. It’s been years and nothing. We have not found anything that can help.”
Morane nodded, “I understand Alphas, but the truth is, this is indeed bigger than me, but I think I have a solution, I do not know if this would work, but we could try it.”
“What is that?” Aiden asked her.
“I could try to break the curse myself,” Morane explained to them, “It is true I’m not very knowledgeable about the curse, but what if I try to see if I can break it.”
“Do you think that will work?” Aiden asked, staring at her. “If this curse is so powerful, doesn’t that endanger all of us and most, especially, you?”
“I am frustrated, yes. But that does not mean I want you to kill yourself for this if it is not something you can handle,” Bryan told her and then got up, ready to leave.
“Alpha Bryan, please wait,” Morane called out to him. “Let us give it just one try and if it doesn’t work, I will conduct more research, and we will definitely find a way, no matter how long it takes.”
Morane hated the fact that she had not been able to solve this problem for years now. She wanted to save the Alpha twins and also wanted to break the curse to feel reassured that she was still a strong and powerful witch.
The curse was a challenge that she wanted to win, regardless of what it took. And she hated how hard it was for her to win.
“Let’s give it a try,” Aiden said to Bryan through their mind link, trying to convince him.
Bryan let out a hard breath and turned to Morane, “What’s the plan?”
Morane’s eyes locked onto Bryan’s. “We need to attempt the Harvest Ritual. It’s our best chance.”
“But isn’t that ritual… forbidden?” Aiden asked her. He had heard about the ritual before, and it was not something to be joked with. Plus, Forbidden and Dark magic was not allowed in the Pack.
“Desperate times call for desperate measures. Are you both willing to take the risk?” She asked them, her gaze not wavering. “This is the first time I am doing forbidden magic, not to worry it will also be the last unless it is extremely needed. I still remember the rules of magic in the Pack.”
Bryan’s eyes narrowed, weighing the options. “What exactly are we risking?” He inquired.
Morane glanced at both of them and responded.
“Everything!”
