Rosalind arrived at the scene. Mr. Wong was on the phone with the company leaders. When he saw her, he waved his hand, signaling her to wait.
She nodded slightly and glanced at the stubborn resident not far away.
Previously, when he refused to agree, his neck was practically stretched to the sky. Now, he had a completely different attitude, negotiating amicably with the person in charge.
“Rosalind,” Mr. Wong walked over after finishing his call, beaming with joy. “I have to hand it to you! You solved the problem as soon as you stepped in.”
“I just guessed there were some vested interests involved,” Rosalind raised her eyebrows and smiled. “But you’re celebrating too early; the trouble is still ahead.”
“He agreed to the demolition and even signed the papers. What trouble could there be?”
“Indeed, but… our design plans haven’t actually changed.”
This stubborn resident is definitely going to keep an eye on the final resort project. When he finds out he was deceived, he’s bound to cause trouble for the company!
He might even make a scene when the resort opens.
“If he dares to do anything, I’ll call the police!”
“Mr. Wong, Wayer City isn’t like the urban area. If nothing major happens, they won’t intervene. But if a local stirs up some news and it gets on TV, it will affect our resort project’s reputation.”
Mr. Wong nodded, “You really think things through! No wonder Lion insisted that you must be involved in this project; it was a wise decision.”
“Stop praising me for now,” Rosalind took a deep breath and furrowed her brows before speaking again. “Here’s what we’ll do: you go and have a casual chat with this stubborn resident, like a friendly conversation. Try to get a recording or video evidence proving that he voluntarily approached us for the demolition.”
“Will that be a threat to him?”
“No,” Rosalind curved her lips into a smile. “It’s not meant to threaten him if something happens; it’s to calm the public! We can say that since the original resident agreed to the demolition, it’s normal for us to revert to the original design plans for construction. He did it voluntarily; we didn’t force him.”
“Alright! Let’s do that,” Mr. Wong now had a newfound respect for Rosalind and trusted her completely. “I’ll go talk to the resident, and you help entertain the investors!”
The mention of investors gave Rosalind a headache.
Over the years, she had meticulously checked every project she handled to see if it was related to W Group, just to avoid any ties to her past.
But this Wayne investment was acquired by W Group at this very moment! It left her in a dilemma: quitting wasn’t an option, but continuing meant she might encounter… that person.
Fortunately, this project was considered significant by others but not by W Group. Ulric probably… wouldn’t pay much attention.
She raised her hand to rub her temples and then took out her phone to check the message Tilda had sent her.
[Floyd has been crying and wants to see you! I’ll drive her to Wayer City to visit you and then drive back. Shouldn’t be a problem, right?]
Tilda quickly added another message.
[We won’t stay overnight! We’ll come back right after seeing you! Floyd’s big teary eyes are begging me; I really can’t refuse! Help!]
Rosalind could imagine Floyd’s pitiful look while pleading with Tilda.
Helplessly, she nodded and replied, [Alright, you can come.]
In fact, she missed that little girl too!
