The wedding venue was arranged by Ulric in collaboration with the designer.
Everywhere was adorned with bright red roses, and even the red carpet was sprinkled with petals…
Rosalind looked at the scene before her, feeling a sense of familiarity but unable to recall where she had seen it before!
Ulric spoke softly beside her, “In middle school, you once drew a picture of your future wedding during an art class.”
She was instantly stunned!
That was so many years ago.
Rosalind remembered that the art teacher had taught them how to draw scenes and some composition techniques.
She had secretly glanced at her classmates; some were drawing places they had visited, while others were drawing their homes.
Rosalind had never traveled nor had a home of her own, so… she decided to draw an imagined grand wedding.
In her imagination, the bride and groom deeply loved each other, with eyes only for one another. After the wedding, they would form a happy family, perhaps even with a cute baby.
She would envy that child because he could grow up in a complete family with both parents.
So much time had passed, and Rosalind never expected that Ulric would still remember this!
It was just a casual drawing back then…
Why were there roses everywhere? Simply because the teacher had only taught them how to draw roses.
“I still have that drawing.”
Like a magician, Ulric produced the drawing she had made back then.
If it weren’t for her name written at the bottom in her own handwriting, Rosalind would have forgotten she had ever drawn it.
“How… how did you get this drawing?”
Rosalind remembered that the drawing had been collected by the teacher! Because every time they finished drawing, the art teacher would collect them like assignments.
“I asked the art teacher for it.”
“…”
“Because of that, the art teacher knew I liked you back then.” Ulric’s eyes never left her as he spoke, his lips moving slightly. “Then the chemistry teacher knew, and then the homeroom teacher. They all knew.”
So until graduation, they were never separated and always sat together.
But Rosalind knew nothing about any of this.
At that time, she was entirely focused on studying and working part-time. She never thought about anything else!
“Rosalind, don’t you want to know what 0825 means?”
Ulric raised his hand and slowly unbuttoned his shirt collar, revealing the numbers tattooed on his skin.
“August 25th was the first day we became desk mates.”
“…”
“I watched you walk towards me with your backpack. For the first time in my life, I clearly heard my own heartbeat. I forced myself to look away from you, but by the end of class, I realized my palms were sweaty.”
Ulric’s voice was low and slightly roughened from emotion, magnetic as if it had a spellbinding quality.
Each word was slow and heavy with meaning.
Rosalind couldn’t say anything. She felt like a useless person who didn’t know what to do or where to place her hands except to cry. Tears streamed down her face, one drop after another…
“You’re crying.” Ulric gently wiped away her tears. “Rosalind, you have feelings for me, don’t you?”
“Rosalind, let’s not divorce, okay?”
