“Rosalind! So you are here after all.”
Suddenly, Sirena’s voice reached her ears.
Rosalind instinctively withdrew her hand and looked up at her, “What’s the matter?”
“Don’t forget your promise to me. You said you would firmly divorce Ulric, but now he’s planning a wedding for you, and you agreed?” Sirena was fuming after seeing the message Johnny had sent her.
She had poured her heart out to Ulric without receiving even a smile in return. Yet, despite everything, Ulric was still planning a wedding for Rosalind and even insisted on being discharged from the hospital for it!
“This is his condition. Otherwise, he won’t agree to sign the divorce papers. Should I take him to court for a divorce?”
“Don’t get too complacent!”
“What do I have to be complacent about?” Rosalind didn’t look at her anymore but continued watching the mother and daughter walking farther away. “You had the power to kill my mother and leave me with nothing. I’m so afraid of you now.”
Sirena could hear the implication in her words. Her expression paused for a moment, and she crossed her arms. “Your mother wasn’t killed by me. She died from her own illness. What does that have to do with me?”
Rosalind had anticipated that she wouldn’t admit it and sneered. “Ulric said that after the wedding, we will go to the civil affairs bureau. Until then, I don’t want to see you again. You’d better not touch anyone around me because I have nothing left to lose.”
Those who have nothing left to lose have no fear.
Sirena raised an eyebrow and suddenly fixed her gaze on Rosalind’s abdomen. “Don’t worry, I don’t want to see you either! One last thing-Johnny just told me that you can never get pregnant again. Is that true?”
“…” Rosalind knew that one lie required countless others to cover it up. “Yes.”
“Do you want to get checked at another hospital? I know some specialists in this field.”
Rosalind didn’t believe Sirena’s “kindness.”
She just wanted to confirm the matter!
“No need. I don’t care anyway. It’s better without children.” Rosalind feared that her poor lying skills would be exposed, so she kept looking elsewhere as she spoke.
She could fool Johnny, but men aren’t as detail-oriented and don’t overthink things.
But women are different!
Women are very perceptive.
“Rosalind, we are sisters after all. We share half the same blood. I still care about you! Honestly, if I didn’t love Ulric so much, I can’t imagine what I’d do if I didn’t marry him. Maybe I’d let you have him.” Sirena said this and even took a few steps closer to Rosalind.
Rosalind suddenly scoffed and scolded, “Don’t come any closer! We have nothing to do with each other-never did and never will. Don’t try to get close to me.”
“Every word I say is true.” Sirena seemed to suddenly drop her guard, her expression softening considerably as if she genuinely wanted to open up and talk. “Whether you believe it or not, if it were any other man but Ulric, I wouldn’t compete with you! There’s no other man in this world worth my attention besides him.”
Although Sirena hated Rosalind and her mother, she had her own pride.
Besides Ulric, she wanted no one else.
“Do you know? If it weren’t for Ulric, if it weren’t for wanting to be worthy of standing by his side, I wouldn’t have studied so hard or worked so tirelessly! To please the Walters family and his mother, I even-“
