“We’re married!” Those words, coming from Georgia’s lips, were a rare occurrence indeed.
It was the first time she had ever said such a thing to Kayden. As soon as the words left her mouth, her gaze began to waver once more.
Kayden nodded with a simple “Mm”. Like the straightforward man he was, he hadn’t grasped the deeper meaning behind Georgia’s words.
Georgia, throwing caution to the wind, took a step towards Kayden.
As she drew close, she hesitated for a heartbeat. Then, surprising even herself, she threw her arms around him. The sudden embrace caught Kayden completely off guard, leaving him stunned.
Once again, silence filled the room, the moment frozen in time.
“Kayden, thank you,” Georgia whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
Kayden shook his head slightly. “No, I should be thanking you. Everything I do now, I do because it’s right.”
Georgia pulled back, her eyes burning into his. She took a deep breath. “Tonight…”
She meant to suggest they sleep together, but Kayden, ever oblivious, cut in. “You’ve put away my bedding. Where am I supposed to sleep?”
Georgia’s brow furrowed. She didn’t answer, instead pulling away from him with a hint of annoyance. What a clueless idiot, she thought. They had come this far, and he was still asking such stupid questions. Typical Kayden! But she had come too far to back down now. She sauntered over to the bed, and then turned to face him. “Could you help me take off my shoes? My back’s killing me after being on my feet all day.”
Take off her shoes?
Once, others had waited on him. Now here he was, serving someone else. But what could he do? This was Georgia, after all. Kayden nodded resignedly and approached her. She was the only woman in all of Seclela who could order him around, the only one he would do anything for without question.
He knelt beside her, reaching for her exquisite foot. She wore black stockings and matching high heels.
From his position, he could see… everything. Georgia did not attempt to cover herself. If anything, she seemed completely at ease with his gaze. Kayden allowed himself a brief glance before focusing on her feet. Even that view was intoxicating.
So beautiful.
Even her toes were flawless, begging to be kissed. That was Georgia – perfect from head to toe, without a single blemish. Kayden was a man, after all. No matter how stoic, he couldn’t help but be affected by the sight before him. He had seen so many women, but none had interested him. Georgia was different. She was special. And in that moment, his most primal instincts stirred.
He swallowed hard, his hands moving of their own accord across her feet. It was pure masculine instinct. Kayden prided himself on his self-control, but at his core, he was still just a man.
Georgia wasn’t used to being touched like this. It was her first time experiencing a man’s caress, and this feeling was strange.
“Kayden!” she called out suddenly, her voice barely above a whisper. “Let’s sleep together tonight.”
Kayden didn’t answer. His hands stilled, and time seemed to stand still.
Georgia blinked, confused. When several seconds passed without a response, she asked, “Is something wrong?”
When the words left her mouth, Kayden pounced. Like a wild animal, he was suddenly on top of her, pinning her to the bed. Georgia gasped, caught off guard. Her surprise quickly gave way to a racing heart.
Kayden gazed down at her. Even in the dim light, he could see every detail of her flawless face. His eyes were soft, filled with a tenderness she had never seen before. It made her heart melt.
“Are you sure about this?” Kayden asked, his eyes locked on hers.
Of course, Kayden understood what Georgia meant. He wasn’t an idiot, despite appearances. He had known exactly what she was thinking from the moment she had put away his bedding.
Georgia’s heart pounded. She had never done this before and had no idea what to expect. To be honest, she was nervous.
Taking a deep breath, she bit her lip. Then she reached up, resting her hand on Kayden’s shoulder. She nodded slightly. “I’m sure. I think… I think I’ve fallen in love with you. You’re my husband. You should know that-”
Before she could finish, Kayden’s lips were on hers. They kissed, passion igniting between them.
Perhaps it was pure instinct. Neither had any experience, yet somehow, it felt completely natural.
Soon, things progressed to a critical moment. Georgia felt as if her heart might burst from her chest.
Looking up at Kayden, his face glistening with sweat, she suddenly blurted out, “Kayden, I… I’m scared!”
With a sigh, Kayden rolled off her, lying beside her on the bed. He took a couple of deep breaths, then said simply, “Let’s sleep.”
Georgia didn’t know why she had suddenly become afraid at that crucial moment. She just… lost her nerve.
“I’m sorry, Kayden,” she said, looking at him guiltily. She was the one to initiate this, and she backed out. She truly felt terrible.
“It’s fine,” Kayden replied, his tone neutral. “When you’re ready, we can try again.”
After that, silence fell over the room. The passionate fire that had burned so brightly moments ago had been extinguished, leaving only the sound of their breathing in the dark.
The next morning, when Georgia woke up, Kayden was already gone. He must have gotten up early. She walked out to find a bowl of noodles on the table, along with a note. It read: “Gone to school with Leah. Noodles on the table.”
Georgia folded the note, smiling to herself. This was Kayden at his most tender. He had never left her a note before. The moment she saw it, a grin spread across Georgia’s face. Her heart felt as sweet as honey. Perhaps this was what people meant by the feeling of being loved.
