I got home and Kate was already waiting at the entrance.
“Nora..” she called out, running to me the moment she saw me walk in.
“Can you believe all this ?”she asked, her eyes wide with excitement., “this means you don’t have to move out of the mansion anymore. You don’t even have to worry about money anymore.” She said jumping.
“‘You’re yet to hear the shocking part,’ I said, collapsing onto the couch.”
“Really ? There’s more ?”
“Mr Beaumont control a whopping thirty percent of Paris economy. Can you believe it ?”
“Is a lie !!!” She exclaimed bringing her hands to her mouth.
“Doubt it all you want but it’s the truth.”
“That’s to say you’re the youngest female billionaire, at twenty five you’re already in control of thirty percent of Paris economy. This still feels like a dream Nora. Pinch me, maybe I’ll wake up.” She took my hand to slap herself lightly.
“It’s not a dream Kate, it’s real and that’s not even the issue right now, I honestly don’t know where to start from.” I said running my hands through my hair. “Have never ran a business in my life, how am I to control this much.”
“Mr Beaumont saw the potential in you Nora,” she said calmly. “that’s why he entrusted all of these to you, he knows you can do it, so do I, I’m sure you’ll do a great job sweetheart. Just take it a step at a time.” Kate said holding both my hands.
I nodded at her, it feels like that was all I needed to hear. I heaved a sigh and brought out the envelope Mr Patrick gave to me earlier. “Mr Patrick gave me this file containing some documents. He said all I need to know is in them.”
“Then what are you waiting for, let’s open it and see what’s in it.”
We opened the documents and the first few pages felt like I was reading a foreign language.
Kate was as confused as I was, we both glanced at each other, “what did you say about me being able to do it again ?”
“Calm down Nora, we can always get help from someone..”
“Who do I ask ? I don’t know anyone who can help, besides it’s too dangerous to get an outsider involved, I might be taken advantage of.”
“That’s true. Well how about you make an arrangement to meet all the key people in the company? You could get to know them and see who you can trust,” Kate suggested.
“Maybe you’re right,” I replied, feeling a flicker of hope. “I can’t just sit here and do nothing. I need to take control of this situation. I can get them together and have them fill me in on what I need to know. A conference meeting will do the trick.” I said, still skimping through the documents.
“Exactly! You have to step up and show everyone you’re capable,” she said jumping up from the couch trying to hype me, her enthusiasm infectious.
“How do I contact them though ?” I asked her raising my brows.
She quickly calmed down and sat back down on the couch.”Let’s start by going through these documents page by page. We might get a clue on how to tackle that.”She said, picking another file up.
I took a deep breath and nodded, together, we spread the documents out on the table. The pages were filled with charts, financial statements, and legal jargon that made my head spin. It was overwhelming, but I reminded myself that I had to take it one step at a time. This is just not for me, but for my kids aswell.
I settled down, going through them, inputting my knowledge of economics and business.
“This one looks simple,” Kate said, pointing to a document. “This looks like a company overview. Maybe it will give us some insight into what you’re dealing with.” She said passing me the document.
“Mum we’re back..” Mia’s voice interrupted bursting into the room. “What’s all these papers ?” She asked, her fingers overing over the documents, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“Don’t touch it baby, they aren’t to play with. How was your day at the day care ?” I asked her, gesturing to Kate to pack up the documents.
Mia is overly curious about everything , and might end up tearing them up or something.
I can’t even take that risk….
“It was so tiring, we were asked to come out for sport, I keep telling them I don’t like the sport activities, I just want to be a ballerina.” She said pouting.
“I’ll register you for a ballerina class baby, but you still have to do sport, exercise is important.”
“Okay mum..” she said bringing her head down, not as enthusiastic as I expected her to be.
“What’s wrong baby..” I asked her pulling her closer to me.
“I miss Grandpa.”
“Awwwn sweetheart, I miss him too, but he’s with the Angel now and he won’t be happy seeing you sad otherwise he’ll be sad aswell. Do you want him to be sad ?.” I asked, smoothing her hair.
“No mum,”.
“Good girl .. Now cheer up for me..” I turned to Mason who had been observing what Kate was doing.
“Mason dear, how was your day at the day care ?”
“It was okay.. Are we going to Aunt’s Kate’s house today ?”
“No sweetheart, why did you ask ?” I asked wondering why he was asking, one thing I’m very certain of is he isn’t thrilled we’re moving to Kate’s house.
“I’m just asking, I want to know if I can still have my privacy a little longer..”
“Privacy ??”
“Yes, Aunt Kate’s house is too small and I’ll have to share everything with you guys, including the bathroom, I can’t dress without you’ll lurking around..” I and Kate exchanged glance and laughed out uncontrollably.
“Is that what you’re worried about ?” I asked amist laughter. He said nothing probably wondering what he had said that’s so funny. ” You don’t have to worry about that anymore baby, we aren’t moving out to Aunt Kate’s house.. You can have all the privacy you want.”
“Really.. ? That’s great, I should go unpack my things.” He said running up the stairs.
“I don’t want privacy mum, I like being around you and Aunt Kate.. You both are my favourite.” Mia said, smiling from ear to ear.
“Awwwn my big pumpkin.. come her,” Kate said pulling her into a hug.
Later that night when the kids had gone to bed, I pulled out the documents, gradually going through them…
I came to a decision to meet all the key people in the company, but how to get through to them remained the issue.
Just when I was still cracking my brain on what to do.
I received a message, it was an unsaved contact on my phone.
It read…
“Dear CEO..
