The necklace

DAMON
Three years on>>>
I dropped the papers in my hand and sat down on the chair, picking up the cup of water on the table. The past three years have been a nightmare; living with Hazel and also with Olivia’s disappearance.
These past years, I have searched for her everywhere in the entire pack, but it seems she vanished into thin air.
No single news about her, nothing! Her family does not care if she is dead or alive and I feel guilty knowing that she left because of me when I promised to protect her.
I want to see her, to know how she is doing, to see how grown has become. She is no longer the teenager I lived with anymore since she will be turning 22 in a month.
I long for her presence. I can’t even tell if she is doing fine, wherever she is or not.
I took Hazel’s conduct for three years for good health. Now that I am all healed, there is no reason for me to keep her with me anymore. It’s high time I got rid of her.
Everyone complains about her antics, she does as she pleases and has been abusing her position as the Luna, torturing my staff, causing trouble in the pack, and tarnishing my image as an Alpha who can’t control his Luna.
If everyone is afraid of me, it’s impossible that I can’t keep a single woman under my control. I was letting her do whatever she wanted because of the agreement we had.
A few years ago, Luca found a physician who could cure me through the Lunar Antidote process, a rare and magical remedy to remove poison from a werewolf’s body. Its connection is to the lunar cycle, with the full moon making it more potent.
This process takes at least a year to three years to remove all the toxins from the body. The physician was Hazel’s father and his only condition for treating me was that I make his daughter my Luna.
If he wasn’t the only person with such power, I would have turned down the request and had him punished for making such a silly request.
I was in so much pain so I didn’t have many options. I had to agree to his condition because it was the only way to get myself back again.
Lying to Olivia is something I regret. I wish I hadn’t made her believe that Hazel was my mate. I regret shoving her away the way I did.
Maybe that decision wasn’t the best. I still hurt her with the decision I made, and I fear she might develop a strong hatred for me.
It’s been years. Three years is enough for her to change her perspective about me, given how I treated her before she left and after she left.
To this day, I can’t stop thinking of the reason she came to see me four years ago. What was it she wanted to tell me? Why was she desperate to see me? Was it to beg me to take her back? Olivia is not someone who would do that.
The hurt on her face that day still lingered in my memory, haunting me every time I thought about her.
Thankfully, I am fully healed. I will start by dismissing Hazel and this time around, I will search for Olivia myself. I will not only limit my search to the Sea Moon Pack but also extend it to the entire neighboring packs.
Until she is in my arms once again, I won’t stop combing everywhere for her. My heart thundered as the thought of Olivia meeting her mate flashed in my mind.
What if she found her mate? What if she is living happily with someone else?
I adjusted to my seat and closed my eyes to get rid of the stupid images appearing in my head. There’s no way she would be with her mate, right?
I don’t care if I am being selfish at this point anymore. I want Olivia to come back to me. I don’t want her to find her mate, no matter what.
I dropped the water in my hand and picked the thin stick in front of me, unconsciously twiddling it between my fingers.
Luca’s sudden appearance wafted me away from my thoughts. “Good morning, Alpha,” he greeted hypertensively.
“Is everything alright? Why are you breathing in a frazzled manner?” I asked, once again positioning myself on the chair with a scowl on my face.
“There is a problem, Damon,” he vented, calling me by my name, which is something he does when there’s a serious situation.
“What is it?” I questioned. “It’s the Luna. She has left the tower,” he announced.
“Care to explain further? I do not understand what you meant by that. Hazel does visit her family. How has that become a problem?” I queried.
Although she always made sure to inform me, it’s okay if she didn’t today. I don’t care!
“She left the tower with her belongings, I don’t think she has any plan of returning here,” Luca expanded while I nodded my head in understanding and shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly.
“Isn’t that a good thing? At least she saved me the stress of throwing her out myself. Glad to know she is out of the equation. I don’t have to think of how to get rid of her anymore,” I said.
Hazel no longer has a use for me. Should I be sad that she left on her own accord? I was going to do that, anyway. I looked up at Luca; he was still staring at me with a horrific look in his eyes, which made me frown in response.
“Did anything else happen?” I probed. “She left with your mother’s gold necklace”
I felt a loud bang in my head the second I heard those words from him and I was on my feet in a jiffy.
“What did you just say?” I asked, trying to be sure I didn’t mishear him. “I am sorry I just heard that from the maid. She was in your mother’s room before she left,” Luca explained.
I should have asked why and how she got access to a room that was under the surveillance of security, but my rage couldn’t let me think of that.
The necklace was the only thing my mother left behind, the only thing of hers that now belonged to me and my most cherished possession.
I left it in her room just to have a reason to go there whenever I wanted. How could Hazel think of stealing from me?
As much as it’s one of the most expensive necklaces in the pack with its current worth not less than ten million dollars, I do not care about its worth as long as it’s mine.
“Search everywhere for her. Do not leave a single place out,” I ordered. If she was desperate for money and the only way she could think of getting it was by stealing from me, then she must be silly.
I won’t spare her if she pawns the necklace before I get her! I must have been way too lenient with her to think of leaving with my mother’s necklace.

A week later>>>
“Has there been any news about her?” I polled, as I watched Luca shake his head in response. “We haven’t been able to get a hold of her, Luna. I am sorry,” he answered.
I paused and turned around to face him. “I am not talking about Hazel, is there still nothing about Olivia’s whereabouts?” as I inquired, my tone was as soft as it could be.
Whenever it comes to Olivia, I become a different person and not the cold Alpha everyone portrays me. It’s very important to find Hazel because I need the necklace back.
I would have let it go if it was something else, but it’s not. This is something that I have cherished since I was a child.
Right now, my priority is getting Olivia back. I’d do anything to be with her again. I will treat her better than I did and I am glad she is now an adult, not the little girl I knew.
As I thought about her, I couldn’t stop my imagination from wandering to how she looks now. Has she added some weight? Did she grow taller? Is she different from the way she used to be? Just how grown is she now? Did she become more beautiful?
So many questions were running through my mind, and I knew that seeing her was the only way I could provide answers to them.
“I am sorry” my shoulders sprawled after listening to Luca’s apologies. It simply means that they haven’t found her yet.
I am going to find her. I don’t care how long it’s going to take.
“And Hazel?” I asked. Luca cleared his throat before proceeding to give me a report.
“I learned from the pack members about a new female private investigator who just moved to the sea moon pack. She has been here for just a month but has become everyone’s favorite because of her ability to get any kind of work done”
I sat on the chair as we got to the garden. The sea moon pack, unlike other packs, provides room for people from other packs to reside here. It’s not a new thing to learn about someone moving to the pack.
But an intelligent female investigator who has become the best in the pack within a month? That’s interesting!
“Pay a visit to her tomorrow and get her to work on finding Hazel. I will pay her any amount she desires,” I instructed.
If she can find Hazel, it wouldn’t be bad to work with her on finding Olivia. Whatever condition she wants, I will be willing to meet up with them.
