Every time Bubu received his affirmation, she would be very happy and say that she would definitely treat him to a meal if given the chance. However, due to her busy studies and his occasional business trips outside Arkpool City, they regrettably never met. They were online friends, and although there was a significant age difference between them, they got along very well.
Bubu’s admiration and infatuation with him was something Tom Fritz had not anticipated. He vaguely remembered that they were 12 years apart. He hadn’t done anything special for her; their conversations were limited to discussions about art, with no generation gap between them. Tom Fritz was naturally gentle in his interactions with people.
Why didn’t Tom Fritz think of Agnes when he thought of Bubu? It was because many girls used Bubu as their online name back then. The little cat named Bubu wasn’t named by him either; it already had that name when he adopted it. In his memory, Bubu was a young girl from his school days, so he didn’t easily connect the two. Fate never seemed so magical.
But sometimes, fate is indeed magical. After taking a shower, Tom Fritz lay on his soft and comfortable bed in his robe and gently closed his eyes. He had only seen these messages of longing tonight, while she had decided to give up and start a new life tonight. Perhaps this was the best arrangement by heaven.
Tom Fritz thought that not replying to the emails might be the right thing to do. Let him disappear completely from her life so as not to harm her any further. She was also trying to stop her internal struggle and start anew. Time could heal everything; as long as she decided to begin a new life, she would surely meet the right person.
Tom Fritz felt deeply apologetic and incredibly heavy-hearted. That night, Agnes cried her heart out in her sister’s arms, feeling as though she had experienced a breakup, releasing her long-suppressed emotions. She told Summer about the little cat she had liked for so long and recounted those years.
Summer was a great listener, imagining the man in her mind-a gentleman, gentle as jade, knowledgeable and talented-no wonder he deeply attracted Agnes. Loving someone unilaterally can be exhausting; it can drain you emotionally and make you feel like you’re going crazy.
“Some people come into our lives just to accompany us for a short period, leaving us with long-lasting memories,” Agnes took a deep breath. “Because of him, I gained a lot of creative inspiration; after all, love is an eternal topic.”
Summer felt equally sad; she held Agnes tightly, tears welling up in her big eyes but with a smile on her face. “It’s fortunate that you met him. Maybe you’ll create even better works in the future? We must believe that every arrangement by heaven is necessary; just treat him as a gift.”
That night, Summer stayed by Agnes’s side just like Agnes had stayed by hers during her emotional turmoil. Summer didn’t say much to comfort her because emotions are something one must process and come to terms with on their own.
If letting go were easy and one could instantly stop loving or being attached, how could it be worthy of the word ‘love’? Love is inherently tormenting. And Summer knew that even though Agnes had sent Mr. Cat one last email, it didn’t mean she could truly let go of him. She realized it wasn’t good for her and was trying to let go.
In the coming days, Agnes would have to process these emotions herself, which would inevitably lead to severe internal struggle. This worried Summer the most.
The next morning.
Tom Fritz got up early as he had to go to the company today. His father would be busy today and had arranged for him to meet a business partner at ten o’clock in a club.
After getting up, Tom went for a half-hour jog around the estate, his mind filled with those emails from the mailbox-seven years of a girl’s youth; how could he deserve it?
After showering and having breakfast, he went upstairs back to the study.
