Sophia’s POV
The next two days were okay for me. Titus went to meeting while I got to stay in our room and read a book. It was getting harder to keep food down so I just drank a few glasses of water.
After the first meeting, Titus seemed frustrated but he wouldn’t tell me what was happening. After the second meeting, he seemed less stressed than the day before but I could tell something was still bothering him.
It was the last full day we have here at Lotus Pack until we pack and leave back for our pack.
We laid in bed together while Titus pulled my shirt up and started rubbing my stomach. He lightly kissed it then kissed me.
“I don’t think I tell you I love you enough,” he says. I roll my eyes and shake my head.
“You tell me every single day. How is that not enough?” I laugh. He puts his nose in the crook of my neck and takes a deep breath.
“Will you be okay here when we all go on the run?” He asks me. I nod. I can’t shift since I’m pregnant so I’m going to stay here and watch from the balcony. The full moon was tonight so my wolf is going to be on edge.
“Will you be okay since it’s the full moon tonight?” He asks.
“Of course I’ll be fine,” I said adjusting myself with a smile on my face.
“I can stay here if you’d like,” he offered while playing with strands of my hair. I shake my head.
“Go enjoy yourself with Brody and Jacob. I’ll be fine,” I said looking up at his eyes. He nods and smiles as he stares back at me.
“Do you think I’d be with someone else if your first mate never died?” I ask him out of the blue. He looked surprised and confused.
“I would have loved a chance to get to know my first mate but I was blessed with you,” he whispers as he tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear.
“Would you rather be with her than me?” I ask holding his hand to my cheek. He shakes his head and caresses my cheek with his thumb.
“I love you so much I couldn’t imagine anyone better than you,” he whispers getting lost in my eyes. He places a soft kiss on my forehead and turns off the lamp next to our bed. “Get some sleep.”
I lightly nod and lean into his chest as he covers me with the blanket and wraps his arms around me. His scent surrounded me and lulled me into my sleep.
“Wake up Sophia,” I heard the familiar evil voice say. I was hung up on the wall with vines. The thorns piercing my skin at my ankles and wrists and a cloth covering my mouth. I look up and see Delphine. This wasn’t a memory it was happening right now.
I started struggling, trying to get out of the vines, and I had full control of my movements.
“Welcome back my favorite subject,” she said with an sly grin on her face. My wolf let out a growl. She put her finger on my chin and slid it across. It felt so real.
“Don’t worry you’re still in Titus’ arms. But you’re just mentally here. I could stab you right here and you would start bleeding out in Titus’ arms,” she said taking a knife out of a cloth. My breath hitched and she started coming closer.
“Now Delphine, we don’t want her to be injured while she’s still with Titus. We’ll have her next Thursday.” From the corner of the hallway, out comes Adrian. Today was Saturday. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t. I was terrified.
“Welcome back Sophia,” he smiles. He pulls my shirt down and runs his finger over my birthmark.
“Why is it still there,” he growled. “She’s been marked and mated. It should have disappeared.” Delphine looked confused. Then my mind was pulled away.
I shot up and looked around. My heart was racing and my breathing was uneven. I looked at my wrists and saw puncture wounds from when the thorns poked through my skin.
“Are you okay Sophia?” Titus asks. It was sunset outside and I looked down at him. I had woken him up.
“Yeah I’m fine I just had a nightmare,” I said laying back down and covering my wrists. My wrists and ankles burned but I kept quiet. I didn’t want to worry Titus. I wanted him to have fun tonight instead of worrying about me all the time.
7 o’clock eventually came and I could tell Titus’ wolf was excited.
“If anything bad happens, instantly link me,” Titus said as he was getting ready. I nod and watch him rush around quickly and getting changed.
‘His wolf is rushing him,’ my wolf snickered in my head. I was surprised. I haven’t heard from her in awhile. Always busy watching over our baby.
‘I haven’t heard you in a long time,’ I comment. Maybe because the full moon was out tonight she’s starting to get anxious too.
‘Well I have to watch over her while you can’t,’ she said. I wonder if she remembered the dream. She disappeared again and I let out a sigh.
“I’m going to head out,” he said. I nod and he comes up to me and kisses me and walks out. I look out and see the moon starting to come up out from behind the trees.
I grab a granola bar that I packed and snakes on it. I grabbed a book and sat on a chair on the balcony. The dream felt so real. Could they do that every time I sleep. Thursday is in 5 days. That’s not enough time.
I saw everyone group up at the edge of the woods and the framing of bones started. It sounded like thousands of firecrackers. Everyone’s wolves howled in delight and they zoomed off into the forest. Howls were made under the moon. I heard Titus’ familiar howl amongst the many others.
My wolf wanted to go out with the rest of them but she knew it would hurt the baby. I started to read my book then I heard something fall in the room.
I turn around and see Josh standing there. He ran to me and grabbed hold of my neck and pushed me half way off the railing. I gasped for breath as his hold on my neck became tighter.
‘T-Titus I n-need help. They’re in our r-room,” I instantly linked Titus. I heard him howl.
“I better make this quick,” Josh growled. He slashed a cut in my arm and filled up a tiny container with my blood.
“Delphine thanks you for helping
her with her experiment just now,” he smirks. Then disappears into thin air.
I let in a raspy breath and push myself back onto the floor. I see Titus shift back at the bottom and he uses the railing and climbs up to our balcony.
“Where the hell is he?” He growls.
“I don’t know,” I simply replied still trying to catch my breath. He growls as he tries to find his scent.
“Are you okay?” He asks as he looks at me. His eyes instantly soften at the sight of me. I lightly nod and he cusses under his breath.
“I should have stayed with you,” he said. I shake my head.
“You had fun. I’ll be alright you can go back out. They’re not coming back tonight,” I said. He took my wrist and saw the slash mark on my arm.
“No I’m going to stay here with you for the rest of the night. I’ll ask one of Ryan’s omegas to make us food and I’ll watch you tonight.” He was doing exactly what I didn’t want happening. This was his last day to have fun. The next few days he’ll be planning and when I give myself over, he’ll be planning for war against them.
“I’ll be fine I swear. They just caught me off guard,” I tried to explain but he wasn’t having it. He drags me back inside and locks the balcony door. He changes into clothes.
“I’ll get you spaghetti,” he says and walks outside for a few minutes. I sigh and crash down onto the bed and sigh. The wound had healed but the puncture wounds from my so called dream was still there but it was real. I was.
He comes back in with a glass of whiskey and orange juice. He handed me with orange juice and sits down next to me.
“I really am fine,” I said trying to convince him again.
“You got hurt when I wasn’t here so I’m going to watch stay with you tonight,” he said.
“You’ll always stay by my side.”
