Ethan
Taking a step forward, I almost stumble as an icy feeling starts to make its way up my spine. I can’t shake it and I don’t want to wonder what it could mean. I didn’t want to know if it had anything to do with Adea.
I was shadowed by darkness as I made my way toward the border. Odis’s warning was long forgotten and I locked them in my sights. I watched as the warriors sat completely unaware of my presence. This night was the same as any other night for them. They had no clue that a predator was stalking them.
Slowly, I made my way toward them. I have been brewing all day, the anger had been building, and the frustration from the inability to do anything had me reaching my limit. I wouldn’t admit it but the anxiety was driving me to insanity.
The promise of release was so close that I could taste it. If I just reached out in front of me, I could sink my teeth into it. I was almost bouncing on the balls of my feet now. I was going to unleash everything I’d been feeling today, I needed to take it out somehow and I’m glad the Moon Goddess delivered these guys to me.
Should I be worried about going against sixty trained men? Probably. Was I worried about being captured? No. I’d like to see them try. All I could think about was feeling a beating heart in my fist while I squeezed, the warmth of their blood as splattered over my face, and the metallic tang I’d taste on my tongue as it filled the air.
Today, I would make the streets of Half Moon pack run red. Vengeance would be mine, and Shane would know what happened to those who touched what’s mine. I had two goals in mind. Find Adea and kill Shane.
When she arrived, someone had to have touched her, spoken to her. Which one of them had found her? Had more than one touched her? Who let her in? Whose idea was it to take her to that piece of shit? How long ago had they taken her? When did they deliver her to him on a silver platter? What had he been doing with her in the meantime?
I knew I had been spotted when one of the warriors turned to look in my direction. His gaze wasn’t on me but beside me but I knew he had to sense me. My gaze slid to. the members beside him, I smiled when I realized they still hadn’t seen me, picked up on my movements, or my scent. They were making this so easy. I wasn’t sure if I was excited about them not being trained or disappointed that they weren’t trained. Now that. I was closer, I was seeing the warriors better. Most of them weren’t warriors, I could tell by their physical state and the state of their clothes that they hadn’t been part of the pack long. These had been rogues. I couldn’t help as the smile on my face turned evil as I realized these were the rogues that had made rounds around my borderlines, these were the rogues that broke in and terrorized the school, these could also be the rogues that broke in through the forest and helped in kidnapping Olivia. This would be easier than I thought. I wasn’t only going to enjoy killing these mutts, I was going to savor their slow deaths. If I was lucky, there would be a challenge among their numbers.
“Who goes there?”
The warrior who had spotted me asked as he stepped forward. He was short with chocolate brown skin and short black hair. He was probably as tall as Adea but had some muscle on him. Compared to his comrades, he was probably the most in shape.
His comrades didn’t move to see what he was looking at nor did they try to cover his back. They stayed where they were and watched as if it were a bother to do their jobs. His eyes searched the area around me as I moved closer.
It wasn’t until I was about five feet in front of him that his eyes began to track my movements as they locked on me.
I stopped a foot away from the line where darkness and light met. I hadn’t been paying attention to him and I didn’t realize Elijah had stepped forward. I wasn’t bothered by it, my wolf liked bloodshed as much as I did.
I welcomed him to the front. A few gasps were followed by the guards going into defense. I knew my eyes were glowing orbs in the darkness they hadn’t been worried about. A low rumble vibrated in my chest as I laughed.
“Your death,” I growled.
Leaving the darkness behind me, I took a step over the line and my body followed me into the light. Jaws dropped and eyes widened as they stared up at me as if I were the grim reaper here to lead them into the afterlife. Maybe I was.
I had their full attention and they were frozen in their tracks. I didn’t run, I walked slowly up to the warrior who had asked the question. I seemed to be higher off the ground now as I stared down at him.
He stared up at me with a calm understanding. Usually, when I faced an enemy on the battlefield, they cowered, fell to their knees, and begged. It seems this one knew his fate and that made this easier.
I reached out and wrapped my half-shifted hand around his throat. Without another word, I pierced his flesh with my claws and ripped out his jugular in one pull. No one moved. I’m sure it was only a second but it felt longer than that. It was as if time stood still. They watched in horror as their comrade fell to his knees.
