Ruby was still flushed as the car came to a halt in front of a modern mansion. She was still overwhelmed by all the sensations that went through her body in such a short span of time.
She shyly glanced at Jaxon who was waiting for the driver to open the door for him and their eyes locked.
“Like what you see Gem? You can ogle me all you want later but shall we go meet your in-laws first?” Jaxon smirked as her blush got darker.
He got down from the car and stretched his hands to help her out.
Immediately she got down, he grabbed her waist and steadied her.
Ruby felt like running back home and hiding away in the safety of her soft bed and duvet.
She felt embarrassed as the guards gave them a funny look.
She looked up and glared at Jaxon who was looking so calm and composed which was the exact opposite of how she felt.
She felt like kicking him for doing that when he knew fully well that they would be visiting his family.
She wondered just how good he was at keeping his emotions in check as there was no trace of the sensual look and longing she saw shining in his eyes earlier.
Just then a beautiful old woman in a blue floral gown walked up to them with the warmest smile Ruby had seen in a very long time. She immediately felt calm and a beautiful smile bloomed on her own face as she kept her eyes on Nana.
“My beautiful child, won’t you give this old lady a hug?” Nana stretched her arms wide and Ruby hurriedly walked up to her and embraced her tightly.
“Nana, I missed you.” Ruby whispered as Nana placed a gentle kiss on her hair.
“Sweet child I missed you too.” Nana smiled as she pulled away from the embrace and pinched her rosy cheeks.
“Nana, how have you been?” Ruby asked sweetly as she held Mama’s soft hands.
“I should be asking you, my dear, how have you been coping with Mr. Grumpy over there?” Nana pointed at Jaxon who looked offended and they both laughed.
Jaxon walked up to his Nana and embraced her gently, he smiled as the sweet scent of vanilla and Jasmine filled his senses. He felt warmth engulf him as his Nana ran her fingers through his hair.
He pulled from the hug and placed a gentle kiss on his Nana’s hair. He smiled at her and held her hands in his.
“How are you, Nana?” Jason asked in a voice so gentle that it could be mistaken for a whisper.
“I’ve never been better, especially since I get to meet your beautiful wife again.” she replied. She was one of the people that Jaxon respected so much. The other was his grandfather, though they kept arguing from time to time.
“Come let’s go in, your grandpa is waiting.” Nana smiled as she held both Ruby and Jaxon’s hands on either side and slowly walked back into the house.
The middle aged butler who was standing by the side gave them a smile and bowed as he opened the door for all of them to walk into the house.
Ruby felt awestruck by the beauty of the house. From the beautiful tiled floor that looked like one could see their reflection on it, down to the grand white furniture that stood in the living room.
Keith was sitting on the couch flipping through channels on the television when they walked into the living room, immediately he saw them he turned it back to a cooking channel and smiled in their direction.
Nana dropped Jaxon’s hand and led Ruby to the couch, she made Ruby sit between Jaxon and Keith and Ruby felt shy.
Jaxon rolled his eyes at how his Nana was treating Ruby like she was her granddaughter. He shook his head and sat on the chair opposite them.
“My beautiful daughter-in-law, how are you?” Keith asked Ruby who was shyly playing with her fingers in her lap.
“I’m fine grandpa, how have you been?” Ruby sweetly replied.
“I’ve been good, my child,” he replied. He was not as scary as the last time.
Just then the butler walked into the room and announced that lunch was ready.
“Ruby, Jaxon I’m very sure you are both famished by now let’s go and have lunch.” Ruby smiled at the thought of delicious food as she walked beside Nana and Jaxon just followed behind them all.
They entered the dining room which had a beautiful white marble table that was intricately designed with gold lines. There are six chairs around the table and Keith sat at the head of the table with Nana on his right hand side and Jaxon along with Ruby on the left.
Nana was like a family to them and Jaxon had long insisted that she always joined the for dinner.
The butler came forward and served their dishes and Ruby felt like salivating as the scent of the delicious homemade steak and potatoes washed over her senses.
Jaxon saw the excitement in her eyes and he unknowingly smiled at her.
“Ruby, you don’t know how glad I am that Jaxon finally got himself a woman… it feels like a load has been lifted off my shoulders.” Keith said and Jaxon snorted at that.
Why does it feel like we are having a welcoming ceremony for Ruby? Jaxon thought.
“Though I forgot to ask about how you both met.” Keith said and Jaxon rolled his eyes.
“How did you both meet Ruby?” Keith asked again and the couple shared a look before Ruby started answering.
“He helped me pay for my sister’s medical bills. We met at the restaurant where I worked” she explained.
“I never knew Jaxon had it in him to be so compassionate.” Keith stared pointedly at Jaxon and took a sip of his juice.
Jaxon’s phone rang and he immediately excused himself from the table. “This child is always so busy, does he ever take a day off work?” Keith asked
“Well he took a day off today but I guess they always need his input on important matters so they don’t mess up as he is a perfectionist.” Ruby replied and they all laughed at that.
“That’s true, I hope he makes time for you cause I want to see my grandkids before I die.” Keith suddenly said and Ruby choked on her food.
She hurriedly picked up her juice and took a huge gulp.
“That would only be possible if you are having sex.. Ruby, are you both sexually active?” Keith asked and Ruby spat out her juice.
