Chapter 36
Jaxon groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, only to feel a person’s hold around him.
His brows furrowed in confusion as he noticed that it was Ruby.
Did I sleep here? He couldn’t help but ask himself as that was unbelievable.
He has planned to leave, who knew that he would actually fall asleep?
That was a surprise to him because he hardly fell asleep. He had insomnia and getting sleep was very hard for him.
So what he did most of the time was to work overnight and then fall asleep midway.
But now, he fell asleep without having to take medicine or any tea or even work.
He didn’t even wake up in between.
His eyes darted to Ruby who was still sleeping soundly. He scoffed as he watched her.
Shaking his head, he slowly got out of the bed, careful enough not to make any noise as he slowly left the room.

“Fuck y’all!” Ruby heard her phone ring from sleep as she groaned.
“Damn it!” She mouthed, reaching out to get her phone that was in the drawer near the bed.
“Hello,” she said, her voice low and sleepy. She didn’t even check who the caller was.
“Have you decided to go ghost again?” The person from the other side asked with a sneer as Ruby frowned.
“Who’s this?” She freaked out lazily as she rubbed her eyes.
“Really?” The person scoffed in disbelief.
“You sound wasted..” she pointed out.
“I see you’re now going out to parties now, huh?”
“Parties?” Ruby repeated as she frowned, sitting up slowly from the bed.
“I did not go to any party” She defended as she yawned loudly.
“Your call woke me up from sleep. Who’s this anyway?” she asked.
“You don’t even know who’s talking!! Before you used to be so desperate when you used to call and beg for more time. Anyway..” Cheryl took in a deep breath as she sighed.
“I have work to do. So I won’t waste my time with you. Your sister is awake” Cheryl announced.
“Wait what!!!” Ruby screamed as she suddenly sat up from the bed.
She removed the phone from her ear as she looked at the caller.
“Cheryl..” she called biting her lips hard.
“Of course it’s me!” Cheryl snapped.
“I’m so sorry, I had no idea that..”
“Yeah, yeah. Kimberly is awake and well. She’s asking for you..” Cheryl informed her.
“Alright, thanks. I’ll be at the hospital soon” Ruby informed as she practically jumped out of bed.
“Suit yourself..” Cheryl rolled her eyes as she disconnected the call afterward.
“Oh my God. Kim is awake” Ruby smiled happily as she couldn’t contain her joy.
Thankfully, her stomach was not hurting that much.
She looked at the bed and noticed that Jaxon was gone already. Now she only wished that he was still in the house.
Wearing her slippers, she quickly ran out of her room and she went straight to his room.
She knocked on the door but she got no reply and when she tried opening it, it was locked.
She immediately headed downstairs, praying that he was still around as she needed his permission to leave.
“Jaxon..” she called breathing in relief the moment she arrived downstairs.
He was already dressed for work and was having his usual cup of morning tea.
“Thank God, I found you here” she breathed out in relief.
“What? Do you want me to tap you to sleep again?” Jaxon raised a brow at her, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
“No, no, it’s not that” Ruby quickly waved him off as her cheeks suddenly flushed at the thought of kissing him last night.
Thank Goodness he wasn’t aware of that.
“Then what?” His voice was cold.
“I want to ask for a favor..” Ruby began.
After about two minutes, Jaxon did not say anything to her as he was focused on finishing his tea. Ruby then took that as a cue to continue speaking.
“Uh.. uh..” she began to stammer, not knowing where to start.
“Make it snappy!” He snapped coldly at her.
“I want to go see my sister..” she announced as Jaxon slowly glanced at her.
“And?” He drew out.
“She’s just woken up from a coma. She’s the reason we’re together..” she chuckled sheepishly.
“And?” He drew out again.
“She’s awake. Please, I want to visit her I’m the hospital. Don’t worry about my safety. I’ll take the driver and Ophelia is coming along as well..” Ruby quickly chimed in as Jaxon took a look at his wristwatch.
He had somewhere important to be, not the office. There was something he needed to take care of.
“I don’t care about your safety..” he pointed out with a sneer as he laughed.
“I know but..”
“Be home before three” He gulped down the last cup of his tea and he walked away immediately after.
“Yeah thanks” Ruby mouthed as she watched him leave.
Immediately he was gone, she happily brought out her phone to call Ophelia.
“Hey girl, what’s up?” Ophelia asked.
“I’m good. I’m feeling super blessed today!!” Ruby squealed happily.
“What’s that, drop the bomb girl” Ophelia urged.
“Are you going on a vacation with your husband?” She asked mischievously.
“No” Ruby shook her head.
“Then what?”
“Kimberly is awake!!!” Ruby screamed as she jumped up happily.
“Wait what??”
“Yes, I just got a call from the nurse. I’m heading to the hospital right now, so can you come too?” Ruby requested as she pouted.
“Of course. Yes. I’m already on my way to have a shower..” Ophelia answered as she giggled.
“Great. We’ll meet at the hospital! See ya!!” Ruby grinned as she disconnected the call.
She held a happy look on her face as she ran upstairs to get dressed.
