Chapter 34
Jaxon returned back home that evening and the first thing he noticed after freshening up and coming downstairs was that Ruby was not around.
His brows squeezed as he drank some water.
He checked her location from his phone and it showed that her phone was right in the house. Then was she?
He had known her long enough to know that she would rush downstairs if he came back from work.
At least, she should have been lingering about.
He decided to check it out and see what was going on.
He had already received a text from Rachel a long time ago that the clothes and the things Ruby requested for were successfully delivered.
“Ruby?” He called softly as he slowly walked to her room.
“Ruby, are you in there?” He asked as he knocked on the door softly.
“Ruby?” He asked again, placing his hands on the door knob.
He realized the door was open, so he opened it and walked in.
“Ruby?” He called as she entered the dimly lit room.
He could see a figure on the bed and he knew that it was Ruby due to her petite shape.
“Are you okay?” He questioned curiously only to hear a low groan from her.
Ruby responded to him with another groan. She was curled up in bed, whimpering. Her cramps were hurting like hell.
“I hate this,” She muttered to herself. Menstrual cramps were the worst.
“Ruby” Jaxon wondered how many times he was going to call her name in a day.
He walked over to the bed as he suddenly removed the sheets from her body, revealing Ruby who was curled up like a little child, her hands on her stomach.
She was crying.
The sight of Ruby in such pain made Jaxon’s eyes widen. She was always in pain. He smacked his lips as it dawned on him that he was going to be her nanny yet again.
He gently sat on the edge of the bed, putting a comforting hand on her back.
“Hey, hey. What happened to you again?” He asked, placing his hands on her neck to feel her temperature. It was okay.
“I don’t know,” Ruby whimpered, her voice thick with tears. “I’m just so tired of this every month.” She muttered, not minding the fact that she was in only her underwear and a big shirt.
Her underwear was provocative as well, the Racheal in question bought laced panties and all sorts of lingerie that covered little or nothing.
“What exactly?” Jaxon grilled. It was his first time living with a woman. So he was completely unaware of these things.
“Oh fuck” Ruby cursed as she bit her lips hard.
“Fuck?” He repeated as Ruby scoffed inwardly.
“What exactly is wrong with you?”
Ruby groaned and shook her head. “You know,” she replied, rolling her eyes. “The curse.” She uttered in pure sarcasm.
“The curse?” Jaxon echoed, his brow furrowing in confusion.
Ruby let out a frustrated sigh. “My period!” she exclaimed. “The menstrual cycle. Of course!! It’s hurting me. Jeez!” She yelled in frustration as Jaxon mouthed an oh’ in realization.
“Ahh,” Jaxon responded, starting to feel more and more out of his depth.
“Well, I mean… Can I do anything? Get you some medicine or something?”
Ruby let out an exasperated groan.
“I’ve already taken some painkillers. They’re just not kicking in yet.”
“Oh,” Jaxon said, wracking his brain for something helpful to say. “So… should I just leave you alone then?”
“No, don’t..” she winced as she held his hand.
“I thought you wanted to use the healing pad?” He asked.
“It’s not working!” Ruby blurted out.
“I have the worst cramps ever,” she said as she began to cry.
Jaxon just stared at her in confusion, wondering how much it was hurting.
He usually heard about things like this, but he had never witnessed a lady going through her period pains.
From the look on Ruby’s eyes, he could tell that she was in so much pain. She looked pale.
He knew that menstrual cramps could be really painful, but seeing Ruby like this made him realize that he had underestimated just how much she was suffering.
He gently placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to be as comforting as possible. But that was not his thing at all.
“Hey, it’s gonna be okay. You’re gonna be okay. Is there anything else I can do to help?” he questioned in a low voice. Women were definitely a handful.
Ruby shook her head slightly, her eyes still glistening with tears. “No,” she whispered.
“I should leave then, take care” he was about to leave when Ruby held him back.
“Don’t go,” she whimpered.
“Arrhh” she cried out in pain as she tightened her other hand that was around her stomach.
Jaxon turned to face her as he took in a deep breath.
There she was wriggling in pain and he, who wanted to leave.
She was forgetting that she was wearing just her underwear, a laced one at that.
“Dammit!” He cursed loudly.
“Do you expect me to stay here watching you groan in pain? I have better things to do” he deadpanned impatiently.
“Please don’t go..” Ruby pleaded in a low voice. There was a way he could help her, but she doubted if he was going to agree.
“There’s a way you can help me?” She decided to try her luck as it was hurting too much.
“Which is?”His voice was low and commanding.
Ruby slowly let go of his hand and she slowly collected the duvet he had removed from her body earlier as she used it to cover herself up to her waist level.
“Come” She called out to him slowly.
“What?” Jaxon looked at her in disbelief.
It seemed her cramps were affecting her brain as well.
“Come here. Join me in the bed..” She groaned, leaning against the headboard as Jaxon stared at her in amusement.
He was not certain she had lost her mind as well
She was asking him to join her? For what? That would be in her wildest dreams!
