Chapter 16
Ruby lifted her gaze to see who held her hand, it was Jaxon. He finally came.
“Let me go” she grunted, wriggling her wrist out of his hold.
“What did you want with me?” She asked as she wanted to leave his presence as soon as possible.
“What were you doing with that man?” He grilled instead as Ruby scoffed inwardly. How was that his business if she was with someone?
“And how’s that any of your concern?” He retorted with furrowed brows.
“We’re only married by papers, how I live my life and how I want to live it is none of your business!” She fired at him as she felt he had no right to ask about Kevin.
“I see..” Jaxon muttered nodded his head slowly.
She still hadn’t learned her lesson and still spoke to him very rudely.
That was what he hated about her the most.
“Can I go now?” Ruby questioned wanting to leave.
“No!” Jaxon snapped at her.
“You’re still yet to answer my question” he pointed out in a cold voice, as Ruby stepped away from him because he was standing too close to her.
She shifted backward till her back hit the car.
“I don’t think I’m obligated to answer that” she shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly.
“Oh yes, you’re. You’re married to me..”
“Only on paper..” she corrected, flashing a smile at him.
“I won’t repeat myself, Ruby. Who is that man??” Jaxon asked, this time his voice venomous as his patience was wearing thin.
“Fine” Ruby finally gave in. The last thing she wanted was him strangling her again.
“He’s my friend. Kevin. Is that what you want to hear? We went to high school together. We’re just friends and even if I have a romantic relationship with him. It’s none of your business..” she fired at him.
“And what were you doing with him?”
“We were having lunch together” Ruby replied, she felt like a kid that was being interrogated.
“Don’t see him again” Jaxon suddenly blurted out.
“What?”
“I suppose that you’re not deaf. Don’t see him again. In Fact, you’re not allowed to see any man, not until our marriage ends” he stated in a stern voice as Ruby just watched him in utter disbelief.
Was that a joke or something?
“I don’t understand…” she uttered again in confusion.
“How do you want me to spell it out for you Ruby? You’re not allowed to see any man. You’re married to me!”
“But right now, I’m just the normal Ruby, not your wife. I can do whatever I want to..” She defended but Jaxon was not taking any of that.
“How did you even know I was here?” He grilled, he had texted her asking about her whereabouts. That must have been because he suspected something.
“Our devices are linked to each other Ruby, I monitor everything you do and where you go. I know there is no way you can ever afford a place like this..” he said as realization dawned on Ruby. That was an invasion of privacy.
“Please unlink our devices..” she politely asked.
“No”
“Why? You can’t just watch all I do”
“I do whatever I want to do Ruby. Our devices will remain linked and you’re yet to quit your job!” He reminded her.
He stated that she stopped working, but she proved stubborn and kept on working.
“I’m not going to do that!” Ruby said firmly.
“I’m not going to quit my job, not for you and I’m not going to stop talking to my male friends because of you either”
Because you’re not worth it, she added hit didn’t say it out loud.
“I’ll be leaving, if that will be all” She was about to walk away when Jaxon grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the car.
“Step away, you’re too close* Ruby breathed out.
“We’re in a public place, I thought you didn’t want to be seen around me. Move!” She gritted her teeth in anger.
They were both in front of a restaurant and if anyone was to see the position they were in and how close that was to each other, one would think they were being intimate.
“I need to teach you another lesson. You don’t defile my orders, Ruby..” Jaxon said word by word as his breath fanned Ruby’s face.
She had to turn her head sideways, the look in his eyes very intimidating.
“Look at me when I’m talking to you!” He ordered in a cold voice, as he placed his hands on her chin, tilting her head to face him.
“I own this game and you follow my rule. Quit your job and end whatever you have with that man” he stated, his voice calm but commanding.
“And what if I don’t?” Ruby challenged.
“You’ll get punished in the most gruesome way ever” he leaned over whispering to her ears, his voice sending cold chills down her spine.
“The worst ways Ruby, ways that you can never imagine” he deadpanned as Ruby gulped loudly.
“Please, can you let me go?” she murmured in a low voice as Jaxon abruptly let her go.
“Get into the car?” Jaxon instructed bringing out his car keys from his pocket.
“What makes you think that I’ll get into your car after you mercilessly threw me out the other day?” She asked angrily as Jaxon snapped his head at her, his eyes cold and emotionless.
“Today should be the last day you make me repeat my words” With that he got into the car.
Ruby hesitated a bit before getting into the car.
She knew better than to defile his orders, he had no heart and would definitely punish her MERCILESSLY. He was the devil himself.
Cold, heartless, rude, and impudent.
