A few weeks quickly went by and the territory was looking amazing. Everything was in order and it was the first time we were finishing so much work in just a little time.
I was also impressed with how well the twins worked, they supervised the other warriors thoroughly and made sure they weren’t slacking off. Despite being too clingy to Lexi for the past few days, they weren’t distracted by anything.
I was beginning to think of them as family but it didn’t sit well with me one tiny bit. They still had to prove their worth.
“Are you alright?” Leo asked softly then sat next to me on a bench which was opposite the newly built fountain.
“I am, I was just thinking about the twins.” I answered honestly.
“Why?. Did they do something disrespectful?” He asked softly.
I turned and faced him with a smile.
“You are always looking out for me.” I whispered softly then pressed my hand on his arm gently.
“Thank you.” I whispered.
He chuckled softly then leaned in and bumped my shoulder lightly with his.
“You don’t have to thank me, you know. You are mine so of course looking out for you and protecting you is my priority.” He answered.
My smile vanished and I froze just staring at his handsome face.
He frowned but relaxed and stared back at me.
After Amelia’s visit to this territory, I was planning to take a vacation. Just the two of us away from everything and everyone. There I wanted us to live freely and do whatever we wanted for a month or so.
“Would you like to take a vacation with me soon?” I asked in a low tone.
He leaned against the bench with a raised brow.
“Is that question even necessary when you know how I feel about being wherever you are.” He answered.
I smiled widely then moved, closing the little space between us.
“I was thinking about going back to Ian’s cottage. There is no one there but a few warriors looking after the place. We can talk to him and ask him to allow us to stay there for a few weeks. If he doesn’t agree or approve of our request, we can take our vacation in human territory just to be safe from running into other supernatural beings.” I said.
“That’s a good idea, but let me handle it.” He answered seriously.
I scratched my neck then nodded in defeat.
I wanted to talk to Ian myself but if he wanted to handle everything, then I was going to step back.
“Alright.” I answered.
“We are glad to find you here.” Evan said as he approached us with Ryan.
I glared at them then slightly moved from Leo and sat upright. They had the worst timing ever.
“What is it that you want from us?” I asked coldly.
Whenever Leo and I were having a moment of our own there was always someone who came to interrupt with some lame shit!. It was either, “Please come and check if this or that is in order or excuse me, may I have a word with you?”.
It was getting annoying and very frustrating for me, because I couldn’t even be intimate with my own freaking mate. At night I was very tired and fast asleep and in the afternoon I was working my ass off while the twins were usually coming out of Lexi’s bedroom!.
Was I perhaps envious of them?. Yes I was.
“Lexi told us a few weeks back that her birthday was approaching.” Ryan answered.
“Yes, so?” I asked.
Evan touched his hand then nodded at him and looked at me with a warm smile.
“I’m sorry that my brother and I interrupted your talk without excusing ourselves, that was extremely rude of us.” He apologized.
At least he was the matured one between the two of them.
“It’s fine, so what about Lexi’s birthday?” I asked calmly.
“She told us it’s either today, tomorrow or the other coming day. I think she really isn’t sure about which day it is. So Ryan and I have decided to pick a day and take her out for fun.” He answered.
I lazily stood up and folded my arms.
“You mean you want to pick a date which is convenient for the two of you so you can abuse her the whole night and bruise her with your marking?” I asked coldly.
Leo quickly stood up and wrapped his around my waist.
“What Whitney means is that, even though you two are capable warriors, what would happen if you encountered danger your way?” He asked.
“Of course we would protect her. She’s our mate and we can never hurt her or allow anyone to do that to her.” He answered.
“Leo.” I called seriously.
I didn’t mean what he said and he knew it.
“Fine, you can take her out on that day, but just make sure she agrees to it. Also don’t forget to come back home early. We worry about the two of you as well because you are a part of our territory.” He said as Evan smiled happily.
“I promise we will bring her back in time.” He answered then looked at Ryan.
“You have our word Uncle.” Ryan said seriously.
“Alright I’ll put my trust in you.” Leo answered then tapped my sides gently.
I looked at him trying to figure out what he wanted me to say or do when he was already doing everything.
“Tey don’t you want to know which day they have picked so we could get a present for her?” He asked.
Yeah, I wanted to know and I really did think about getting her a gift on her birthday even way before the twins came into the picture.
“When will her birthday be?” I asked.
“Tomorrow, that’s why we came to get your permission today.” Evan answered.
“Tomorrow!” I exclaimed.
How was I supposed to pick out a gift for her the very same day!.
“Don’t worry, I’ll go with you to pick a gift suitable for her. After she returns home with the twins, we will be able to give it to her together.” He said.
I leaned against his chest happily then nodded.
I was happy having him by my side, he was just too perfect.
