“Go back!” My wolf growled at me.
“No.” I spat as I walked towards the pack’s border.
“He said it was a misunderstanding.” She growled louder.
I moved my hand and wiped away my tears with laughter.
“Yeah right. When are you going to get it into your thick skull that he doesn’t want us?” I asked loudly.
“I do.” He screamed from behind.
I stood in my tracks then turned to face him as he ran towards us.
“See.” My wolf yelped happily.
“Him running after us means nothing.” I said silently then turned back and continued to walk.
I was leaving the pack with or without the Alpha’s approval. I wasn’t going to sit around and wait for the inevitable to happen. She was and is the love of his life, that’s why he didn’t want to be with me, all those excuses were just a cover of how he truly felt.
“Hey!” He screamed when he grabbed my wrist.
“Let go.” I said angrily then looked at him.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered as I looked at him quietly for a minute.
“You are sorry?” I asked in disbelief.
“Yes.” He answered.
“For what exactly?” I asked furiously.
“For treating you badly and hurting you everytime. I know you are kind to me, and when you decided to wait for me it proved how much you wanted me.” He said as I chuckled softly and blinked back the forming tears.
“I agreed to wait for you not because I was kind to you stupid jerk, it’s because I love you!” I yelled on top of my voice.
“Damn it.” He whispered then rubbed his eyes with his free hand.
“I messed up big time okay and it’s not only with you. I badly messed up with my mother, brother and friends recently. I don’t even know what’s wrong with me anymore. Yes that bitch hurt me badly and I know I shouldn’t take it out on you, yet I did just that. Even now whenever I think about you I realize that I don’t deserve to be with you. A few days ago I was angry and upset with that dead bastard. The thought of another man laying a hand on your body made my blood boil so fucking much. All that went through my mind was killing him.” He said as I felt my body relaxed.
I was happy knowing how he wanted no male to touch me.
“It must have triggered you and made you scared of me when I slit that fucker’s throat right?” He asked sadly then shifted his gaze to the ground.
“I’m from the same pack that killed your pack members and family yet you got mated to me.” He said sadly.
I moved and slightly bumped into him to get his attention. He quickly looked up and met my eyes.
“It’s not your fault Neo. You were just following the Alpha’s order.” I muttered under my breath then shifted my gaze to the side in embarrassment when he smiled warmly.
I was angry with him a second ago but now I was already forgiving.
“You are too kind to me that’s why you are saying that.” He said then moved his hand to my cheek.
“Toni.” He called softly.
I chewed on my upper lip then faced him.
“Today I went there to check on Sherry. Not because I’m still in love with her but to see if her wolf was still alive. We decided not to kill her so we are going to banish her, but before that we have to make sure that she can never shift again. When I saw her I won’t lie, I felt pity for her. She claimed she was dying and for a second I believed her, if not for you coming to that side I would have made a grave mistake.” He said softly.
I angrily pushed his hand away and turned facing my back towards him.
“So you would have taken back your rejection?” I asked furiously.
“No, but I would have taken her out of that room and offered her a better place.” He said as tears filled my eyes again.
“Neo, if you still love her you can be honest with me. I swear on the moon goddess I will wish you well.” I whispered.
I tensed when he wrapped his arms around me and rested his head against my shoulder.
“Did you not hear me a while ago?. I’m not in love with her, what I felt for her was pity. I want to be with you, that’s why I ran after you. If she was who I had chosen, I wouldn’t be here with you would I?. I may be a lot of things but I’m never unfaithful. When I set my heart on someone I stand by them unless they choose to cut me off.” He said softly then pulled back and grabbed my shoulders, turning me to face him.
“You can’t leave Toni please. You are my mate and who I want to start all over with. I’m begging you to stand by my side and hold my hand even when I’m not at my best. I will work hard and treasure you like I have never done with anyone.” He said as he removed a strand of hair from my face tucking it behind my ear.
“What do you say?” He asked.
“Tell him yes.” My wolf purred happily.
“You know that I’m in love with you right?” I asked softly.
“Yes.” He responded huskily.
“Then you should also know how I will respond.” I said as a smile formed across his face.
“Will you stay with me?” He asked in a whisper.
“What the hell, yes I will. There is no way I’m leaving you for other she-wolves. You belong to me.” I answered honestly.
“Yes, I really do.” He whispered then hugged me as I hugged him back.
“Should we go back to our room?” He asked while still holding me in his embrace.
“Our room?” I asked.
“Yes, Our room. As of today my room will be yours as well. We will lay down together and wake up together everyday.” He said as I quickly shook my head and pulled back.
No way!. There was no way I was ready to mate with him!. Yes I loved him dearly and wanted to be with him, but that didn’t mean I was ready for mating.
“Relax, we will only be sleeping together. Like literally sleeping not sex.” He said as a sigh of relief escaped me.
He burst out laughing and then ruffled my hair playfully.
“You really are innocent aren’t you?. But that side of yours is super cute too.” He said then leaned in and kissed my cheek gently.
“Let’s now go back, since everything is settled.” He said as I happily grabbed his hand and began walking back to the pack house with him.
“I’m a beast in bed though.” He murmured under his breath.
“What?” I asked softly.
“Nothing. I meant to say I feel blessed to share a bed with you.” He said as a shiver went throughout my body.
“Me too.” I answered not wanting to pay attention to his words a while ago.
Beast or not, I was in love with him.
