“What’s with this setting?” I asked softly while resting my back against Chase’s chest. His arms were wrapped around me and where we were sitting was comfortable.
Everyone sat quietly around the fire at night just gazing at it.
When uncle called us all to come outside, we did that without hesitation but now I was regretting because nothing was happening.
“This feels nice.” Aurora whispered softly then wrapped her arms around Ian’s waist. She was sitting on his lap and resting her head against his chest.
“It sure is.” Ian whispered back then embraced her.
“Okay fine what the fuck is going on?” I asked when I sat upright.
I was about to move when Chase’s arms pulled me back.
“Relax.” He whispered in my ear sending shivers throughout my body.
I instantly relaxed and cleared my throat.
“Who the fuck is she uncle?” I asked loudly while I pointed a finger at the she-wolf who was sitting next to him on the mat.
He looked at her for a few seconds then linked his hand to hers.
“This here is my mate.” He answered softly with a smile.
“What!” I and Jeannie exclaimed together.
“You guys cut it out and let the man take his time to explain.” Lee said loudly then leaned in and kissed Jeannie on the cheek who was sitting between his parted legs.
“Sorry.” She apologized softly and shifted to kiss him back.
“Uncle, is she really your mate?” I asked seriously.
I knew how some women threw themselves at Strong men, some would easily manipulate a supernatural being with their aura.
“Samantha she is a Werewolf not a witch, so she couldn’t manipulate him.” Chase said softly.
I quickly turned and looked at him with a frown.
“Were you reading my mind right now?” I asked in a whisper.
“Yes and I’m sorry. I just wanted to know what you were thinking.” He answered in a low voice.
I rolled my eyes then moved my hand to his cheek.
“Next time just ask, don’t fucking read my mind.” I spat and dropped my hand turning back.
“I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.” He whispered as I cursed silently.
“Uncle do continue.” I said seriously.
“Well mate, care to tell us what we should know about you?” He asked.
She removed her hand from his then got to her feet and looked at Ian.
“I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I know how uncomfortable it is to have another Alpha in your territory. It’s just that I and Sia couldn’t give our mate up.” She said in a respectful tone.
“I won’t lie, it is very uncomfortable but not that hard to accept. Look, we have a vampire amongst us yet we treat her as family, so don’t sweat it.” He answered softly as I glared at him.
“The fuck.” I spat under my breath.
“Let it slide Samantha.” He warned playfully.
I shrugged then looked at the lady who was now smiling.
“I am called Whitney and my wolf’s name is Sia. I was the right hand of the Alpha king and second in command.” She said as I huffed mockingly.
“Great, another threat.” I spat.
“Sammy, don’t do that.” Uncle warned coldly as I folded my arms.
He was getting annoyed at me, that I could tell.
“Well, like most territories mine wasn’t any different. They believed in the strong ones and got rid of the weak ones. Women were mostly bed-warmers and only the men were warriors. I lived in silence and trained so hard to prove everyone wrong. At first the Alpha king thought so little of me, but I proved myself to him one day and I moved up to rank of general. My identity as a woman was useless and so was my gender that’s why I lived and acted as a man would.” She said as I faced the other side.
I hated her words because I could somehow relate. I hated my female name because of my fucked up past.
“To be honest, my mind was always fixed on my duties and what to do for the territory as well as my king. There was never a day I took time for myself or paid any attention to search for my mate. My happiness was in my work and the prosperity of our people.” She said then kept quiet forcing me to look at her.
“Me finding my mate here gave me a lot of complicated feelings. My wolf was ready to protect him but I wasn’t. I asked him to leave but he was stubborn. As much as I wanted to fight him, I chose him over the Alpha king and decided to switch sides. I know you don’t trust me for now and that I’m yet to prove myself to everyone, that’s why I will work hard. What I am asking you all is to please allow me to be with him. My wolf has never wanted anyone as much as she does him. I can’t leave him behind no matter what.” She said sadly.
Aurora slowly stood up and faced her.
“Since the Alpha king is dead, you now know who’s territory that is.” She said seriously.
“Yes I do Alpha queen. I promise to serve you with absolute loyalty and never ever betray you.” Whitney answered after she went down on one knee.
“Tomorrow you will depart from this territory and go back to the late Alpha kings territory. There you will tell everyone of what happened here and prepare them for my reign and rule.” She ordered seriously while releasing her dominant pheromones that made me very uncomfortable.
“But… my…. mate.” She whispered then coughed badly.
“Yes, I’ll do that without question.” She responded between gritted teeth. Aurora’s pheromones were obviously dominating her and her wolf.
Uncle stood up and helped her stand up to her feet.
“If my mate is going that side then I am going there with her.” He said calmly as Whitney widened her eyes in shock.
I too was astonished at his words.
“You can’t be serious!” Jeannie exclaimed.
“Exactly!” I backed her up.
“This here is my mate you brats. I won’t abandon her!” He yelled loudly as we all kept quiet.
“Aurora, is it okay if I go with her?” He asked her.
“Yes.” She answered and then looked at me.
“You can’t fight easily against a mate bond.” She whispered.
I got to my feet and rested my hands on my hips.
“Fine, it seems tomorrow we will all leave this place.” I said then turned and extended my hand to Chase who easily took it and stood up.
“I helped and gave it my all. Now it’s time I return home.” I said honestly.
Ian stood up and walked to where I was standing, extending his hand.
“My pack will always be open to you my friend. Thank you so much for everything.” He said softly.
I wanted to mock him but found myself taking a step forward and hugging him.
“I will always have your back.” I whispered softly then pulled back.
“Like I will always do.” He answered and looked at Chase.
“Take good care of her.” He whispered then walked to Whitney and Uncle.
“We will be in touch soon okay.” He said as Uncle nodded.
He turned and looked at Lee and Jeannie.
“Thank you.” He whispered as I chuckled softly.
It was hard to believe but Ian was now a different person with more understanding and compassion.
