I was woken up by Blade calling me through our mind link.
“Alpha.”
I blinked a few times then looked at Amelia who was still asleep next to me. Her head was resting against my chest and my arm was around her waist, she looked at peace and calm with her eyes closed.
“I could never get used to seeing this angel sleeping next to me.” I said silently.
“As cheesy as your words sound.
, I agree.” Axel answered.
I smiled widely then leaned in and kissed her head.
“Are you mocking me?” I asked him calmly.
“Not really. It’s just surprising how you would be saying something cheesy when you hated cheesy lines.” He answered with a huff.
So he really was teasing me.
“People can change.” I answered then slowly pulled my hand from under her, carefully making sure she was still asleep.
“Alpha.” Blade called again.
“I’m up.” I answered through our mind link then moved to the edge of the bed.
“My love.” Amelia whispered in a cracked voice as I halted my movements.
“Yes, babe.” I answered, then turned and faced her.
She was still sleepy while she was trying to sit upright.
“No, continue sleeping .” I whispered softly.
“But…”
“No but.” I answered then moved closer and lay beside her.
“Sleep.” I whispered softly while wrapping my arm around her.
“Okay.” She whispered through our mind link when she had closed her eyes.
Yesterday I was a little hard on her, that’s why I wanted her to rest as much as she could. I wasn’t satisfied with only one round in the bathroom, that’s why I had to take her to bed to continue, but damn it , I went hard on her and couldn’t let her leave the bedroom or have supper. I was a selfish bastard.
“It’s good, you know.” Axel responded as I chuckled softly.
He was one to talk huh, when he was worse than I was.
“Report Blade.” I said through our mind link ignoring his comment.
“We have found a territory which isn’t occupied or owned by anyone.” He answered.
“Good, have some of our warriors go there and work on those cottages we had talked about.” I said.
“I have already done that alpha. The twins remained to guard the new territory while I came back here to get more men so we could start with the construction.” He answered.
“Good. Is there anything else you want to report to me?” I asked seriously.
“No Alpha. I’ll be on my way immediately after we finish packing the necessary materials.” He answered and closed our mind link.
I closed my eyes and relaxed, enjoying the beautiful tingles I felt throughout my body.
“It feels good spending time in bed cuddling.” I whispered to myself then frowned when I heard a loud knock on the door.
Amelia opened her sleepy eyes while the knocking continued.
“Damn it Neo.” I whispered as I stood up angrily and walked to the door opening it.
“What?” I growled loudly.
“Brother ….”
I quickly grabbed his hands which were covered in blood. His shirt was messed up and had blood stains all over.
“What happened?” I asked seriously.
It wasn’t his blood that I knew from the scent, it was Sherry’s that’s why I wasn’t very worried.
“Brother…” He trailed off then swallowed hard.
He had a pained expression on his face.
“Did she commit suicide?” I asked loudly.
“No. The dosage of wolfbane was too much for her. It’s completely destroying her from inside.” He answered as I relaxed.
“So you rushed her to the pack’s clinic?” I asked calmly.
“No, I didn’t. I understand that she deserves her punishment and that her wolf should die, that’s why I couldn’t do it. She was bleeding from the nose and mouth so I had to clean her up and give her some whisky to help her ease the pain.” He answered in a low tone.
I dropped his hand then patted his shoulder lightly. He really was a kind man.
“She will be fine so don’t worry, okay.” I said softly.
“I know.” He answered with a loud sigh.
“Just don’t forget that you are no longer her mate.” I pointed out.
“Honestly speaking, we both know that I am. Not until she accepts my rejection our bond isn’t entirely broken.” He answered.
That I knew, but it made no difference to me. Once a mate had been rejected the bond was instantly broken, just not entirely. It took the other mate’s acceptance to make it official and completely break any sort of little connection they had remained with.
“Brother, what exactly are you trying to say right now? Do you mean to tell me that you still have feelings for that bitch?. Do you still want her back?” I asked on top of my voice.
“I was in love with her for years okay!. To me she was all I had and saw, so don’t dare expect me to get rid of my feelings for her just from the blues! If you want to know whether I’m still in love with her or not, the answer is I am.” He spat.
I was about to tell him that I understood how he felt when we heard the sound of a glass shatter.
We both turned and looked to our right.
Toni was standing far away from us with a horrified expression on her face. We both knew there and then that she had clearly heard his confession.
She quickly rubbed her eyes then turned back and walked away.
“Shit.” I muttered under my breath.
“Fuck, why the hell do they always listen half of one’s confession?. I wanted to tell you that, despite me still having feelings for her, I wasn’t going to take her back or see past her punishment because I know that would be a mistake. That lady is pure evil and would stop at nothing to be at the top.” He said seriously then scratched his forehead.
“I’m screwed.” He whispered softly.
“Not yet, you can go talk to her and tell her everything you have told me now.” I answered.
He dropped his hand and looked at me coldly.
“Maybe it’s for the best that she has heard.” He said.
“And why is that?” I asked curiously.
“Because I don’t want to give my heart to any woman. Going through another heartbreak would kill me and Vision.” He answered, then turned and began to walk away.
“Brother, there is still hope you know. It can work out well between you and Toni.” I called out.
“I know, but I am not willing to take any chances for now.” He answered without turning or stopping.
I stood there feeling sad and concerned about him. His love story was going to be a trial for both him and her. She wanted to be with him that was obvious, but he on the other hand wanted nothing to do with love.
So it seemed.
