Amelia’s p. o. v
After the beautiful kiss we shared, Ian pulled back from nowhere and went back to eat like nothing had happened between us.
I felt bad and my heart couldn’t stop beating rapidly, sadly I chose to do the same.
We ate in silence until we were both done, he later thanked me and excused himself, giving me enough time to clean the plates.
Once I was done, I went back to my bedroom to take a bath.
The only thought that came to mind was, was he upset with me by chance? If not then why was he acting a bit cold after the kiss?
“He did say thank you.” Aurora pointed out softly.
“I heard.” I answered then stepped out of the shower.
“He needs time.” She said as I ignored her and moved to the door grabbing a dry towel that was hung there.
I understood what she meant, but that didn’t stop the fear I had in my heart.
If he was to turn back to the Ian I first met, my life would go back to becoming hell.
I dried myself with a low sigh then stepped out of the bathroom after wrapping the towel around my chest.
I walked straight to the wardrobe and pulled out a baggy shirt as well as a pair of undies.
“Do you think he truly wants to give us a chance?” I asked softly while I dropped the towel and began putting them on.
“Definitely, that shouldn’t be questioned or even doubted.” She answered.
After making sure I was comfortable in the baggy shirt, I went and sat on the bed lazily.
“Amelia.” She called seriously.
“Yes, Aurora.” I answered silently.
“There is something important I want to tell you.” She said.
I quickly sat upright and brushed my wet hair back.
“What is it? Is this about Axel?” I asked calmly.
“No.” She answered.
“Sherry?” I went on.
“No, just listen.” She said with emphasis. I immediately kept quiet.
“Do you remember anything from our past, even a few glimpses of what went on or happened before our father’s death?” She asked.
I kept quiet and thought back at all I had gone through but I couldn’t remember anything after our father’s death.
“No,” I answered honestly.
“As I thought. Listen, Amelia, what I am about to tell you now is very serious and important. I wanted to keep this from you in order to protect you, but now I think doing just that is wrong, you have the right to know what’s going on and what might happen in the coming weeks.” She said, confusing me.
“What, what’s going on?” I asked in concern.
“It all started with our bloodline.” She began.
“Our mother wasn’t a regular she-wolf. You see, she was a …..”
She stopped when the bedroom door opened and Ian walked in without a shirt on.
His hair looked wet and his skin too. As much as I told myself not to look at him lustfully I couldn’t help myself. My throat instantly became dry when my eyes went on his abs.
“Breath,” I whispered to myself then swallowed hard.
He approached me and got on the bed sitting beside me.
I took in a deep breath and released it.
“A peek wouldn’t kill.” I whispered to myself then turned slightly only to come face to face with him.
He was looking down on me seriously.
“What?” He asked huskily.
“Nothi… ng.” I answered in a cracked voice and quickly shifted my gaze to the bedsheets.
“You know, you can look….” He trailed off and got my hand.
“Ian, what are you doing?” I asked quickly.
“And you can touch me if that’s what you want.” He said then moved my hand to his hard abs.
I swallowed hard and looked at them with a smile on my face.
The tingles felt good and my curiosity got the best of me. My hand was moving on his abs gently, my nails slightly clawing his skin.
“Beautiful.” I murmured under my breath then quickly dropped my hand when he chuckled softly.
“Who, me?” He asked.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean it that way, you are handsome but not your abs. I meant they are beautiful, but not as in a woman’s face or clot …..”
“Relax, I was just messing with you. I understood what you meant perfectly well.” He said with a chuckle.
I moved my hands and grabbed the edge of my shirt pulling it down. I was very conscious of what I was wearing and how he was looking at me.
“Is it okay if I sleep here?” He asked seriously.
I looked at him surprised at his question. He always did whatever he wanted, why was he asking me that from the blues?
“I had a rough day and I have no one to talk to.” He said softly.
I moved my hand and brushed his wet hair back, getting his full attention.
“You don’t have to ask for my permission, this room is yours, remember.” I answered honestly.
“I know but you deserve your privacy.” He said softly.
Well, he was right on that, but having him sleep next to me was what I was looking forward to. I really enjoyed waking up next to him.
“Ian, you can sleep here, there is no problem.” I answered.
He grabbed my hand and moved it to his lips, kissing it lightly.
I smiled shyly then relaxed.
“You know, it’s funny how I took over this pack as an alpha. I wasn’t ready and I hated the idea of having a lot of responsibilities, but there wasn’t a thing I could do.” He said as I widened my eyes in shock.
Was he opening up about his past? If so, then I wasn’t going to say a word to interrupt him. I wanted to hear everything about him.
“When my father passed away, an elderly she-wolf by the name of Nana made sure to help me in whatever I needed help with. To be honest, that woman was like a mother I never had.” He said with a smile, then his smile faded and it was replaced by a cold angry expression.
“But never in all my life was I aware that she was my biological mother and that my Beta Neo is my biological Young brother.” He said in a low angry growl.
“What?” I asked in disbelief.
“Not only do I feel betrayed, I feel angry at her and that damn bastard! Why is it that everything is falling apart? I almost died and almost lost Axel, as if that wasn’t enough, my own blood brother was willing to run away with my wife and leave me dead. Now My supposed dead mother turns out to be alive.” He said on top of his voice then kept quiet.
“What?” I asked again, this time in a whisper.
“Amelia.” He called softly then sighed.
This was the first time I was hearing him call my name like that.
“I don’t know what to do anymore, I feel so useless and alone.” He whispered.
I wanted to ask him a few things so I could be clear about what I had heard but I couldn’t. He had a pained expression on his face and I hated that.
I moved and wrapped my arms around his neck, resting my head against his shoulder.
“For now, how about you sleep and get some rest?” I asked softly.
“Sleep won’t cut it.” He answered in a low tone.
“I know, but you have gone through a lot these past days, you need to calm down and get some sleep. Tomorrow when you wake up, you can then think over everything.” I said.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head against mine.
I was so shocked over his confession, but I wasn’t going to show it. Because right at that moment he needed someone who was going to tell him everything will be fine and that someone was me. His mate.
