Going out of the room was my decision. Not that I wasn’t afraid of what the warrior would do to me, but because I figured that a vicious she-wolf was more deadly than an angry warrior.
“I still can’t believe that you chose to walk out.” Toni said in her room.
What exactly was I supposed to say?. I wasn’t that stupid as to sleep in her room. Celina had a lot of she-wolves under her, it wouldn’t take her much to make my life a living hell.
“I wasn’t comfortable in such a big, grand room. To be honest, I am very content in your room because it’s small and very decent.” I lied.
She looked at me quietly then smiled.
“Well, feel free to stay as long as you can.” She answered.
“Thank you.” I said with a fake smile.
“Wait here okay .” She said then stood up from the bed.
“Where are you going?” I asked as I stood up as well.
“I’m going to prepare us something to eat. I am actually starving.” She answered.
“Toni, I seriously don’t think it’s a wise decision to go alone in the kitchen. Not after what had happened.” I pointed out in concern.
She giggled then walked to the door.
“Don’t be silly, nothing will happen to me. After all, everything has gone down.” She said then walked out before I could say another word.
Nothing had gone down yet, because Celina wasn’t back and that was a bad sign for us. We had no idea where the twins had taken her or what they were doing to her.
Whatever it was, I was certain it wasn’t nice or okay.
I walked to the door and came out.
It wasn’t safe being outside our room. And the thought of Toni bleeding was still fresh in my mind. I didn’t want her getting hurt on my behalf again.
The passage was quiet as I moved. My steps were slow and light. Years of sneaking out of my previous pack house were like a blessing to me, because I learnt how to move quietly so that I couldn’t be easily heard.
I slowly went downstairs with a rapid beating heart. I had no idea where the kitchen was, I was just going to let my instinct lead me there.
“Go back.” My wolf growled loudly.
I ignored her and frowned when I saw the entrance door to the mansion left wide open.
“Why was it open?. Was it left like that by the twins who were dragging Celina out?. ”
I asked and answered myself then walked to the door to shut it close when I heard a low whimper coming from outside.
I quickly looked behind just to be sure that It was from outside. When I saw no one. I looked at my hand on the door.
Going outside was risking my own life and it was scary, but what If someone was in pain or sick. Much worse, badly injured and they needed help?. Was it worth it leaving them to die in the cold and darkness because it was at night. No, it wasn’t.
I slowly moved and walked outside following the movements that were getting louder with each step I took. I could see clearly and that was enough.
The cold breeze was giving me goosebumps and the small stones on the ground were slightly hurting my barefoot.
“Hurts.” A female voice came from ahead.
I quickly picked up my pace and rushed forward, a small road was on my right, and on my left were a lot of trees. I stood still trying to hear those movements again.
“Did she just speak?” One of the twins’ voices came from the small road.
“Yes, she did. I think it’s not hurting enough brother, taking us both is bearable. Frank, how about joining in?” The other twin responded.
“No, I don’t fuck finished worthless sluts like her. You have fun for as long as you like, but remember… make her pass out.” Frank’s voice replied and in that voice, I could hear anger, disgust, and no remorse. His voice was cold as Ice and if I hadn’t heard him myself, I could have thought someone was against him if I was to be told that he had said such a thing.
My heart was beating crazily and my throat was dry. I knew what they were doing to her and it was still a shock.
I turned to go back but bumped into a wall that wasn’t there a second ago. I bite my lower lip to hold in my voice. As my heart beat in its own crazy way.
When beautiful tingles went around my body, my heart instantly calmed down and a smile touched my lips.
My mate was right in front of me. Although I couldn’t pick up his amazing scent, he really was in front of me.
“Did you hear that?” Frank asked seriously.
“Wh.. t.” one twin asked in a loud laboured groan.
“I deliberately pretended not to hear. But someone is close by, I heard their footsteps coming here and they stopped right a few meters away from us.” Frank answered as my heart picked up.
Without reasoning with myself, I grabbed Ian’s hand then quickly rushed back to the mansion.
Once we were outside the mansion, I breathed a sigh of relief and looked at my mate with a frown. He stood smiling at me, with his hand still linked to mine.
Unlike those days his eyes shone with anger and disapproval, this time they shone with admiration and care.
Something wasn’t right at all. I could feel it.
I stood in shock staring back at him, fearing speaking.
What if he thought of me as his wife that’s why he was staring at me like that?. If I was to speak, it would break his trance and he would hurt me or even worse reject me.
That fear itself made me stand still without moving an inch.
I saw him lean in closer to me and stop an inch away from my lips.
“My mate.” He whispered in a deeper, dominant voice.
My heart fluttered and tears filled my eyes. Was I hearing correctly?. Was I dreaming?.
Was he recognizing me?
Was he finally accepting me?.
Those questions were the only things that went through my mind as tears rolled on my cheeks.
