“I don’t understand what you mean… you missed your period?” Cyrus’s voice was filled with a mix of confusion and concern.
“I haven’t seen it this month. Like… I am five days late,” I exclaimed, looking at him, panic evident in my eyes.
“Five days?” he echoed, his worry mirroring mine.
“Yeah,” I cried out. Oh Lord… please let this be something else, and I promise not to ever have sex again.
“I thought you were on the pill,” he said, looking at me with a hint of accusation.
“I was… but I stopped because I felt like I wasn’t going to have sex anytime soon. But then you fucked me the whole camp,” I said, my eyes hard on him.
“Stop acting like it’s all my fault,” he said, sighing heavily.
“I didn’t tell you to explode inside of me,” I pointed out, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on us.
“What the fuck… you enjoyed every time I did that,” he shot back, making me sit down on the bed and bow my head.
“You think blaming each other is going to solve anything?” I asked, feeling so distressed I could barely think straight.
“So what are we going to do? I can’t be a father now, and you can’t be a mother either. You’re just 19,” he said, and I nodded, tears welling up in my eyes.
“And my brother is going to kill you,” I added, and he nodded too.
We both sighed at the same time, looking at each other with a mix of fear and uncertainty.
“But… what if you’re pregnant?” he asked, and we both gasped at the thought.
“We can’t do it. We have to take the baby out then,” I said, looking at him, though the words felt wrong even as I said them.
“Killing it?” he asked, looking at me with a mix of disbelief and horror.
“Do we have a choice?” I asked, even though deep down I knew how wrong it sounded. But what choice did we have?
“Yes, we do… give birth to it secretly and give it up for adoption,” he suggested.
“Oh, Lord… I don’t even know if I am pregnant… oh God,” I said, biting my fingers anxiously.
“Should I get the test?” he asked, and I suddenly looked at him.
“You want to find out?” I asked, and he nodded.
“Well, I don’t want to know now. Let’s just pretend everything is okay for now. I might get it any day,” I said, hoping for some miracle.
“It would be better if you find out now and it’s negative, rather than having it on your mind for days,” he reasoned.
“But what if it comes out positive? I will go crazy,” I said, and he nodded, understanding my fear.
“We fucked up,” he said, sitting beside me, both of us falling silent, just breathing in and out.
“But…” I trailed off, touching his hand. “If I am pregnant…” I trailed again, looking into his eyes. “Will you leave me?”
He looked at me silently, the weight of the question hanging between us.
“You would,” I said, removing my hand from his, feeling the sting of betrayal before it even happened.
“I won’t,” he said firmly, and I looked at him, searching his eyes for the truth.
His words were a small comfort, but the uncertainty of our situation loomed large.
“After school tomorrow, we are going to get the test, and you will take it,” he said. I nodded, feeling a knot tighten in my stomach.
“Come here,” he said, opening his arms. I hugged him, savoring his scent, a mix of comfort and fear washing over me. I was so scared, and I prayed that all of this would just pass away like a bad dream.
“I have to go now,” he said, pulling away from the hug.
“Thanks,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. He nodded, giving me a small, reassuring smile.
“Later,” he said, standing from my bed and walking towards the door.
“The next time we have sex, you will be on the pill, and I will be wearing protection,” he said, then smiled before closing the door behind him.
Me? I am never going to do that again. And I swear it.
I sat on my bed, my thoughts swirling in a chaotic mess. The reality of the situation weighed heavily on me. The possibility of being pregnant at 19, with a guy who wasn’t even my boyfriend, was terrifying. I couldn’t imagine how I would face my family, especially my brothers, with this news.
The next day at school felt like it lasted forever. Every tick of the clock seemed to echo the anxiety in my heart. I couldn’t concentrate on my classes, my mind constantly drifting back to the impending test. What if it was positive? What would I do then?
“Hey girl,” Eva said, plopping down beside me in the classroom. Her eyes were sharp, sensing that something was off.
“Hi,” I replied slowly, trying to muster a smile, but it felt more like a grimace.
“What’s wrong with you?” she asked, her full attention now on me.
I sighed deeply, looking around to make sure no one else could overhear. I leaned closer to her, lowering my voice. “I think… I might be pregnant. I don’t know for sure.”
Eva’s eyes widened, and she gasped. “What the hell?”
“Yeah, I’m so scared,” I admitted, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes.
“You’re really pregnant?” Eva asked quietly, her tone now tinged with worry.
“No, no. I didn’t say that. It’s just that I’ve missed my period, and I’m terrified that I might be pregnant,” I clarified, hoping to ease her panic.
“Oh thank goodness,” Eva said, visibly relaxing. “I don’t want to be a godmother right now.”
“But I don’t actually know yet. I’m just hoping that I’m not pregnant, because if I am… Cyrus and I are both screwed,” I said, feeling the weight of my anxiety pressing down on me.
“Have you told him?” Eva asked, her voice soft and concerned.
I nodded. “Yeah, I told him.”
“Did he say anything?” she inquired.
“He’s scared too. We both are. We haven’t decided on what to do yet. I just… I’m so lost right now,” I admitted, burying my face in my hands for a moment.
Eva put a comforting hand on my shoulder. “If you were pregnant by Ezra, what would you do?” I asked, and she laughed lightening in an attempt to bring some humor into the situation.
“I’d probably kill myself,” she said, letting out a shaky breath.
“Why?” i asked, My curiosity piqued.
“Besides the fact that we’re way too young, I would never want to have kids with your brother,” she said with a laugh.
PAUSE.
SHE ENDED UP HAVING FIVE KIDS WITH EZRA…
CONTINUE…..
We both laughed, and for a moment, the heaviness of the situation lifted. Her humor was a small, fleeting respite from my fears.
“And also…” I said, trying to switch gears, “Do you know that Marco has two brothers and five sisters?”
“Damn,” Eva said, her eyes going wide. “I thought he only had two sisters and one brother.”
“Wait, you knew?” I asked, astonished.
“Yeah, didn’t you know he had siblings?” she asked, her eyebrows raised in surprise.
“No,” I said, feeling a sting of betrayal. “He told me he was an only child.”
“Damn girl, he did you dirty,” Eva said with a sympathetic look.
“I thought he was different, better than Cyrus at least… but it turns out he’s even worse,” I confessed, feeling the bitterness in my voice.
“What did he do besides lying?” Eva asked.
“He lied again,” I said, my voice cracking with frustration. “He doesn’t actually like me. Ezra slept with his sister, and Marco wanted revenge by getting involved with me. Thank goodness I was smart enough not to sleep with him.”
“He’s bad news,” Eva said, shaking her head in agreement.
As we were talking, the classroom door suddenly opened, and Ezra and Cyrus walked in. My heart skipped a beat at the sight of them.
“Ezra looks hot,” Eva said with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood.
“He looks the same,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. My gaze fell on Cyrus, who was staring directly at me. The intensity of his gaze made my heart race.
“I am not pregnant,” I repeated silently to myself, though the thought lingered and gnawed at me. The anxiety of the possibility was overwhelming, and seeing Cyrus only intensified my fears.
Eva looked at me with concern. “You okay?” she asked gently.
“Yeah,” I said, forcing a smile. “Just trying to get this off my mind” she nodded turning back to the board.
~~
Eva smiled the moment she was dragged into the room, knowing exactly who it was. Only one person had the audacity and the familiarity to do that.
“You look hot today,” she said, her hand slipping down to touch his crotch, making him groan.
“You don’t want to do this here,” Ezra said, his hands wrapping around her waist. She laughed, glancing around the small, dimly lit room. They were still at school, after all.
“We do it everywhere, remember?” she teased, pushing him until he sat on a small chair.
“Did you learn anything from what I taught you guys today?” he asked, as she started to lower herself to her knees.
“How could I?” Eva replied, rolling her eyes. “I was too busy glaring at those girls acting like sluts in front of you.” She pulled down his briefs, and his erection sprang free.
“My favorite lollipop,” she said, biting her lips as she eyed him hungrily.
“You know I only want you…” he began, but his words were cut off as her lips wrapped around him.
“Shut up,” she said, pulling back for a moment. “I know you still sleep with those bimbos.” She licked the bottom of his shaft, making him shiver.
“Why would I need them when yours is better and makes me cum every time you want?” he said, a smirk playing on his lips.
Eva smiled at his words but then stood up abruptly, fixing her clothes. “I met someone else,” she said, smirking.
“Tease me as much as you want, babe,” he said, unconcerned. But his eyes widened in surprise when she didn’t go back down.
“I’m damn serious,” she said, her tone shifting to one of finality. She adjusted her outfit one last time before turning on her heel and walking out of the tight room, leaving Ezra stunned and speechless.
~~
I walked out of school, scanning the area for Cyrus. I spotted him not far away, walking towards me.
“Hi,” I said, forcing a smile.
“Hey,” he replied, his smile more genuine.
“Where will I take the test?” I asked, anxiety tightening my chest.
“Come on,” he said, leading me to his car.
He drove us to a nearby supermarket, where we were able to use their restroom for privacy.
“I’ll take the test, and then you can check it yourself,” I said, my voice trembling. He nodded in agreement.
I went into the restroom, followed the instructions, and peed on the stick. The wait was supposed to be five to ten minutes, but it felt like an eternity.
“Lord, I am so scared,” I whispered, stepping out. Cyrus immediately hugged me, patting my back.
“It’s okay,” he said softly, and I nodded, resting my head on his chest.
“Seven minutes,” he said, checking his watch.
“Let’s wait the full ten minutes, even if the result is out. I just want to stay like this a bit longer,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. He nodded, continuing to pat my head.
I was terrified. So scared.
“Ten minutes,” he said finally, and I nodded. He walked over to the test that was lying on the counter.
“Holy shit…” he exclaimed, his eyes wide.
