Chapter 1

Amidst the deafening roar of racing cars, I felt someone’s gaze on me.
A car to my left suddenly came barreling straight toward me.
After I dodged it, it crossed the finish line first, then turned around and charged back at me.
In the blinding glare of the headlights, I could see those eyes filled with hatred, and my brain turned sluggish.
It was Ben Jones.
He was getting closer, the smile on his face growing increasingly wicked.
Ben wanted to run me over.
In a moment of blankness, the tires screeched as the car skidded to a stop just a few inches from me.
Jonathon rushed over, panic stricken, and pulled open the car door. “Sherlyn, are you okay?”
The overwhelming fear made it hard for me to stand.
I gripped Jonathon’s hand tightly. “Jonathon, please take me away!”
The Ferrari’s door swung open, and the culprit casually glanced at the intertwined hands of me and Jonathon.
“Sorry, I saw you were skilled and got a bit eager to have a go.”
His expression was nonchalant, as if facing a stranger.
Jonathon stood protectively in front of me.
“Is that so? Maybe your eyesight is failing. Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?”
Ben chuckled lightly and unexpectedly pulled my hand from behind Jonathon.
“Is that so? I owe this young lady a proper apology.”
I tried to break free, but it was futile.
Ben leaned down and kissed my hand.
His lips were cool, and familiar memories rushed back, causing me to tremble uncontrollably.
I felt a breakdown coming.
“Ben… stop pretending!”
But he released my hand, his eyes full of confusion.
“Do I know you, miss?”
I was frozen in place, bombarded by a whirlwind of emotions.
What game was Ben playing this time?
But before I could think it through, a woman joyfully dashed into Ben’s arms.
“Ben , you’re amazing!”
Ben held the woman close, ruffling her hair with a tenderness that mirrored the past.
Jonathon reassured me, “I’ve heard of Ben.
His business isn’t exactly clean.
Apparently, he was sent to jail by a lover, but he managed to walk out free.”
“I heard he was injured by local gangsters abroad two years ago and lost his memory, only to be saved by his current fiancee.”
My mind went blank.
He lost his memory?
The lover Jonathon mentioned was me.
And he probably…
despised me deeply.
I grasped Jonathon helplessly.
“Let’s move to Ushuaia, to Iceland, anywhere!
Let’s leave tonight!”
Jonathon was startled by my urgency.
“Okay, wherever you want to go, I’ll go with you.”
After saying that, he actually called his assistant to find a place in Ushuaia.
I snatched his phone away.
Jonathon had fought with his family for me and had finally found his footing here;
I couldn’t be so selfish.
Besides, Ben had forgotten me…
right?
I forced out a smile.
“I was just joking.
Why are you being so obedient?”
He pulled me into his embrace.
“Because there’s only one Sherlyn in this world.”
But the next day, our racing club faced a crisis.
All our sponsors withdrew, leaving none behind.
It was clear we were being targeted.
I wanted Jonathon to help me investigate who we had offended, but Lucy stopped me.
“I know who it is. I’ve arranged to talk to him tonight.”
However, moments before knocking on the door at the club, Lucy held me back, her expression complex.
“Sherlyn, I’m sorry.”
I patted her hand.
“What are you sorry for?
We face challenges together.”
When the door opened, I realized why Lucy was apologizing.
Sitting casually in the center of the sofa was none other than Ben.
