Before long, a person in protective gear walked out of the department. His eyes were visible, and as he passed by, our eyes met.
Somewhat familiar.
This thought flashed through my mind in an instant as I stood by the glass window, observing the man’s every move in surgery.
I had seen Larry Tate perform surgery before; he was quick to react and decisive.
But this man… Watching him focused, I frowned.
His skills were on par with Larry Tate’s, perhaps even slightly better.
An hour later, Anders was pushed out, and under the influence of anesthesia, he had already fallen asleep.
The frown that had been on his face relaxed, and I sighed in relief as well.
However, due to the delayed treatment, Anders had suffered severe hearing loss and would need a hearing aid to communicate normally in the future.
I was grateful for this outcome.
Before coming to the hospital, while Anders was watching TV, his ears suddenly began to bleed.
If it hadn’t been for the temporary doctor, the result now would likely have been complete deafness in both ears.
As I sat by Anders’s side, a knock sounded at the door. Seeing it was a doctor outside, I thought he might have some important notes to convey, so I went out.
To my surprise, he removed his mask, revealing a handsome face.
“Long time no see.”
I was momentarily stunned, and the next second, I beamed and hugged him.
“Senior! It’s you!”
“You actually became a doctor and are now an assistant?”
Kevin Branch ruffled his hair, seeming a bit shy.
“To be honest, it’s embarrassing. My family has a long line of doctors, but my heart was never in this field. I escaped abroad a few years ago.”
“Larry, look, isn’t that Miss Cooper?”
A sweet voice interrupted our conversation.
Larry Tate frowned as he stood at the elevator entrance, accompanied by a beaming Katie Baker.
“Who is he?”
Larry Tate walked over, displeasure etched on his face. I shot him an irritated glance, giving him no courtesy.
However, Kevin Branch, in good spirits, explained everything to him.
I turned to re-enter the room, but the words floated into my ears from behind.
The person seemed unintentional.
“Larry, don’t be angry. You came all this way to see Anders late at night. Even though Miss Cooper is ungrateful, at least we can feel clear in our hearts.”
I couldn’t help but laugh in anger, turning back to give Katie Baker a heavy slap across the face.
Seeing the clear imprint of my hand on her cheek brought me satisfaction.
“The harm done to Anders is now being returned in full!”
Not enough; it still wasn’t enough. Anders had suffered hearing loss, but this hypocritical woman had only sustained superficial injuries!
As Katie Baker began to sniffle, Larry Tate hurriedly pulled her into his embrace.
“Summer Cooper! What are you going crazy about now?”
“Look at you now, acting like a shrew!”
I was stunned.
Larry Tate’s eyes held confusion, anger, but above all, there was no love.
I exhaled and laughed out loud; as I laughed, tears began to flow.
“Do you know Anders waited for you on the operating table for more than an hour?”
“Do you know that Anders’s eardrum perforation is all thanks to her?”
