Erica’s POV
I glared at him and he looked at me with equal intensity. My heart was beating rapidly. I was this
close to being exposed. If Lorenzo had been on that call he would have known that I was with
Dante.
I raised my hand to slap him across his cheek was he caught my hand in mid-air and pulled me
close to him.
“Erica, I do not know why you continue to resist me and frolic with him!”
I tried to retaliate with my left hand but he caught that as well and all I could do was stand still,
while he held me, and glare furiously at him.
“That ‘him’ you are referring to is my fiance and I will marry him. Face it, Dante, you lost me and
you will never get me back. I will never be your Luna; I will never be your woman. I will never
belong to someone as selfish and cruel as you. You had me in your life and now you lost me. It’s
someone else’s turn. He was there for me when you were not, for 6 years. And you can’t even lie
that you missed me because you never attempted to look for me all those years. You were back
here frolicking with Laura and you were still frolicking with Laura at the party. You only took
interest in me when you saw me dancing with someone else. You are a possessive dog! Let’s go
of me!”
I pulled my hands away from his grip and pushed him on his chest.
He didn’t move backward with all the force I had put in and simply stood in a spot, glowering at
me and breathing heavily as his eyes washed over me.
He grabbed me by the throat, slammed me against the wall, and pinned me there. His eyes
stared at me in the mixture of lust and hate. He lowered his face to my neck and I could feel him
taking in my scent.
“You are such a liar, Erica. Even while you say those hateful words, I can feel your body reaching
out to me. We just fucked, you little slut, yet your body is still aroused and I can smell your
juices.”
“Let me go, Dante! Now!”
He ignored me and tried to slip his hands under my dress but I slapped them away.
“Don’t you dare touch me! We are over! It’s high time got that into your skull.”
He let go of me and I pushed past him and continued to head down the stairs. My pace
quickened as I descended each step. I couldn’t give in. I had failed Lorenzo so many times and
now that I was able to resist his touch, I felt some kind of reconciliation in my heart. I had
managed to defend Lorenzo but was it enough to make up for all the times that I cheated with
Dante behind his back?
I took out my phone briefly and looked at the time. It was getting late. I had told the kids to get
dressed so that we could go on a little family outing. It was getting late. I didn’t want to let them
down again and…
“Dante!”
He had snatched my phone from me but I was quick enough to lock it. He attempted to open it
and I could see the hate in his eyes. He wanted to call Lorenzo. He wanted to tell Lorenzo that I
was with him and that he couldn’t have me.
I fought to take the phone away from him and was finally able to snatch it out of his grasp.
He grabbed me by the neck roughly and tilted my face upwards so that our eyes could meet.
“You are mine, Erica. Lorenzo will find out sooner or later.”
I pried his hands off my throat and pushed him to create some distance between us.
“Fuck you, Dante! You are hateful!”
Hot tears ran down my cheeks and I could feel my eyes beginning to sting from the crying.
“I swear, if you tell Lorenzo about us, this deal is over. I will withdraw my stocks from your
business and we can forget about protecting the gem. I’d rather go back to my father’s pack and
die by Hazan’s hand than to allow you spoil the marriage that I have prepared with Lorenzo, the
man who was there for me when you were too weak to claim me as your own like you rightfully
should have. I would prefer to die and Hazan can come for your pack for all I care.”
His eyes narrowed down on me and he grabbed my hair angrily and tugged at it in rage.
I could feel him ripping some of them from the roots and my scalp was in agony. But I did not
waver and kept my fiery eyes fixed on him.
“Are you threatening me, Erica? Is this what Lorenzo has made you become? You do not have the
audacity to question my demands!”
Dante’s roar hurt my ears but I wasn’t shaken by it. I wasn’t the little girl he could play around
with anymore.
“Screw you, Dante! I started flaunting your demands when I finally found out my worth when I
finally found out that I could be a boss of my own without you and still find the man of my
dreams. Lorenzo has nothing to do with this. And no, it isn’t a threat. It is a promise. If you force
me into your life, I will let Hazan burn all of us. You will not ruin what I have lived so hard to build
just because of your petty desires! Now, let’s go of me!”
He was silenced for a while and hesitated. But slowly, his grip on my hair began to weaken and I
finally pulled myself free. I was a ravaged mess but I managed to straighten myself out. I picked
up my bag which had fallen to the floor and slung it over my shoulder.
“Goodbye, Dante!”
I turned to leave but paused in my tracks. I watched as a car pulled up outside and parked in front
of his mansion.
I was dumbstruck and suddenly felt my feet being rooted to the ground.
I could hear Dante breathing behind me and I could tell that he too was watching the strange
vehicle that had pulled up in front.
A lady with dark sunglasses stepped out and began to walk to the mansion. My skin crawled as
soon as I saw her. Was history repeating itself?
The lady came inside with a cheery light voice.
“It is so nice too”
Her eyes fell on me and our stares locked. She removed her dark shades and her glares finally
reached a stalemate. Neither of us backed down.
I watched her lips curl upwards into a scowl. Her eyebrows were raised in disgust and her eyes
finally stopped staring and began to take me in from head to toe. Her voice was full of spite and
disgust that she didn’t even bother to conceal.
“I can’t believe it’s you again. What are you doing here?!”
She looked over my shoulder and saw that Dante was not wearing a shirt.
She looked back at me and I could tell that she was trying to fix the pieces of the puzzle together
and it obviously didn’t take her very long to come up with an assumption.
“Dante! I can’t believe that you…”
I cut her off rudely, rolling my eyeballs, with nonchalance, in their sockets.
“Hello again, Pearl…”
