Compared to his large body, Priscilla felt small, thin, only plump in the right parts, though standing she was slender and with her character and bearing she seemed to be even taller. But having her in his arms trembling, with tears in her eyes was something really new for the alpha Layan.
-He said to her as he wrapped her in his pheromones as they walked through the corridors of the castle.
He was aware of her scent and that it was stronger than before. He was not stupid. He was exuding pheromones to call a male wolf. Basic instinct when she-wolves came into heat. Too bad she already had who owned her heat. So with his pheromones around her he not only calmed her, but also marked her body with his scent so no one else would come near.
But there was the fact that maybe Priscilla’s heat might be too strong because she smelled quite sweet and that was making her body tingle and she was afraid that her own heat would get ahead of her. That would not be safe for either her or himself.
The young she-wolf’s hands tightened on his clothes even if they still hurt from the burns, and her face buried him in his neck. Yes, she was afraid and still some traces of retching after that short-lived but unpleasant moment. She still felt those invisible hands touching her skin without her consent. And that made her more aware that she only liked Layan’s touch.
She hugged him tighter, clinging to him. She needed him. Much more than he thought she did. Now that her emotions were awake, it was easier to understand why she wanted to be next to him.
Once inside the room Layan walked over to the bed and leaned over to let her sit up. He took her tear streaked face and wiped some with his thumbs.
-What happened Priscilla? I told you to rest. I’m going away for a few minutes and see what happens-her voice was not accusatory, more concerned.
She sniffled and reached up to wipe her wet eyes but her hand was stopped. The alpha’s eyes widened at the mess in her hand and then the other.
-And how was this?
-My hands froze and I tried to thaw them but I went too far,- she said in a mushy voice and sniffled again, -Dealing with my emotions isn’t easy, I’m learning.
-At least you should have expected me to be with you, so I could have helped you,- she said.
Layan being near her when she was looking for Liam wasn’t exactly the most viable thing to do. She wanted to get him as far away as possible, not to bring him closer to danger and even more so now he was so close to his target. There was no doubt who Liam was.
She had already ruled out most of the important wolves since she had given them the handle. So just who gave…
-Priscilla- Layan’s voice brought her out of her mind- I need you to be here with me, you already gave me quite a scare when I found you with your eyes blank and unresponsive- What really happened?
The wolf at some point had gone to the bathroom and looked for a wet cloth. He began to wipe his face and then continued, gently with his hands. At the mention of the past event a shudder ran through Priscilla and she lowered her head. She bit her lower lip. She didn’t know how to explain what had happened and she was so overwhelmed at the moment that she couldn’t let out some of her sarcastic remarks.
After two minutes of no response Layan gave up pressing her further because the she-wolf didn’t look like she was going to talk. He ran his hand over her head and moved it to cradle her cheek.
-It’s okay, don’t be like that,- he moved closer and kissed her cheek, -Come on, let’s fix your hands first. They must hurt.
-Are you going to heal them with a kiss like you always do?- she bowed her head and her now messy hair made her look even younger.
Layan stifled a moan. Priscilla didn’t know what his little gestures could provoke or was it because her scent was getting stronger. He didn’t want to stress given the situation. He would have to be very cautious these days. She could be in heat at any moment.
But focusing on the issue of the injured hands, something he struggled with he answered her.
-No precious, this time I think you can do it yourself. I have already awakened my power and it would be very necessary for you to start learning to control it as soon as possible- -Your power- she murmured.
-Your power,- she muttered to herself but the alpha heard her.
-Yes, my power and it is incredible but I was talking to Litus,- she caressed his neck and the bare curve of his shoulder, -He explained to me that because my power is now active in you your cells will be able to regenerate themselves and your life is no longer at risk.
There was a minute of silence.
-You’re saying that…..
-You are not going to die soon Priscilla. You are going to be able to live… like a normal wolf.
Her eyes opened slightly, revealing the silver of her orbs. The sparkles in them danced.
-Can I spend more time with my pa?- Layan nodded, -And with my ma?- Layan nodded again as silent tears again began to stream down her cheeks, -And with my brothers? And with my uncle Leoxi? And with Sara? And with my godfather Siran? And with the pack? And with my pa? And with my ma?
Layan let her finish especially emphasizing her parents and he nodded every time.
-Yes Priscila, you can be with them much longer. Although I have to admit that I feel jealous right now- she didn’t seem to understand- You didn’t mention me-
She didn’t seem to have noticed that detail.
-It’s because I was supposed to be by your side, that’s why I didn’t mention you.
Her answer threw him off balance and he began to laugh.
-He wiped her face again with the cloth and pulled her by the wrist to make her sit on his thighs, -But if you didn’t say those things you wouldn’t be my Priscila-.
He ran his hand over the bitten nape of her neck and pulled her close to give her a soft kiss on the lips. Kiss she didn’t resist and he loved that but a moan from her reminded him that she still had her hands hurt. He pulled away and took her hands gently. She had come back from stopping crying and was calmer. She was no longer trembling. Apparently the news that she could spend more time with her family had helped her to relax whatever was tormenting her.
-I’m going to teach you how to use my power, you have to pay close attention to my words. I myself spent quite a few years before I mastered it completely.
-But Layan, if you touch me I can’t do it,- he raised his head and looked at her, -Remember that you nullify my powers.
That was true but this time Layan disagreed because when he held her in his arms and even when he tried to hold back that power, it was still activated. Maybe because it was his.
-For that time let’s try it while I hold you. I’m sure you’ll be able to do it without me overriding them-
Priscilla raised an eyebrow but in the end she obeyed him.
-If I can’t make it, it will be your fault,- her lips slightly swollen in a grimace that reminded him that she was still very young even though her body was biologically an adult.
-Seeing you in that state is something new even for me. The Priscilla I know is haughty and sharp-tongued. And she looks at me over her shoulder as if I were an ant even if I am still the strongest alpha of the Council.
-The Priscilla you know has no emotions and I never looked at you as if you were an ant. Don’t be tragic- she quickly blurted out and Layan froze.
She was right. She could still be Priscilla, her straight and unpredictable wolf, but now she was… more tender and much cuter. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and laid his head on her shoulder.
-In that case why don’t you show me this new phase of you. I think I like you even more- and before she could protest as she used to do he interrupted her- Close your eyes puppy- his tone of voice changed.
Priscilla looked at him and then dropped her eyelids. Just a few hours… just a few hours, she would let herself heal, take strength, analyze the situation, come up with a plan and get rid of Liam. If all went well the next day the threat to her family would be over and she could live together with them with her new emotions and giving herself completely to her alpha without endangering him.
…
That is if everything went well.
