Another power

Book:Alpha's hostage Published:2024-10-15

Priscilla had been pushed and her knees had hurt from the process tearing the fabric of her pants. She didn’t like the pain, it was annoying, uncomfortable and her skin was bleeding soiling it. Who the hell dared to do something like that?
She turned around showing her fangs to stand still. Behind her was a small puppy, not too big and not too small either, he must have been around 18 wolfish years old and barely reached her waist. The puppy’s eyes filled with tears.
Priscilla put away her fangs and turned to him and looked at him.
-Don’t cry- she told him with no expression on her face rubbing her scraped knees. The gravel on the ground had broken the skin into small wounds.
The puppy listened to her and rubbed his eyes. By this time all eyes around them were fixed on the two of them. Someone ran quickly towards them and Priscilla recognized him. It was one of the guard wolves that had been talking to Layan’s beta a while ago.
The supposed wolf, it seemed, had been instructed to follow her to find out what she was doing. Too bad they didn’t know she could read minds and therefore knew he was following her from the first moment. Not that he had made much of an effort to hide either. His scent gave him away from over a mile away.
She saw him approaching and grabbed the puppy and lifted him up, shaking out his clothes.
-Are you all right?
The pup replied with a nod of his head.
-You should be more careful. You shouldn’t run,- said the wolf and then motioned to the rest of the crowd watching them to go back to their chores.
The boy laughed and ran off with a smile as if nothing had happened. The guard got up and I went to check on the condition of the newcomer to see her already standing up and pulling up the front of her pants without touching her bruised knees. She then straightened up and crossed her arms in front of her chest. The wolf was nervous to have her in front of him.
-Are you afraid of me? Do you think I’d do something to the puppy?- she said tilting her head, her bangs shading him making her silver orbs look more intense.
The wolf swallowed dryly. She raised the edges of her lips.
-You don’t need to tell me anything. I already know your opinion, it doesn’t differ much from the ones here- her smile grew wider- Do I look like a monster?
The wolf didn’t know what to do and lowered his face in shame. Hell, it was what he was thinking precisely at that moment unconsciously. Priscilla’s story and the abnormal events in her life had spread throughout the packs so they were all afraid that she might explode like that time.
Priscilla didn’t really care much about what others thought. She was literally indifferent. She let out a snort.
-Monster. That’s a good adjective for me, isn’t it,- she approached him with a calm step, -Don’t look at me like that. You know I have no emotions or feelings. Your opinions don’t affect me. I’m only here because I have things to do.
She kept her smile as she walked past him.
-And you can follow me or come back, I don’t care, I want to keep going around some more.
The guard watched the she-wolf walk away. She had a beautiful silhouette, slender but curvaceous, much more than any she-wolf in the pack. Even the very long dark hair was shinier than usual. Not to take away from the fact that her face was simply perfect.
She didn’t understand how it was that her alpha didn’t give in to her because her advances were obvious even though she had seen her leave the alpha’s room. Still the wolf seemed reluctant to her most of the time.
But regardless, the comments around her terrified him as a wolf. His alpha was the strongest wolf he had ever known in his entire life. He respected him for it and inside total submission to Layan. With Priscilla it was different, she was a surprise box, some called her a ticking time bomb.
She was like a rose that had just bloomed. Extremely beautiful but dangerous.
Layan was standing at the entrance of his castle with his blue eyes this time totally golden and his arms crossed. Annoyed was not the right word for his state now. He thought Priscilla would stay quiet inside, at least screwing with his life. But no, the very… she had decided to go around the pack and do as she pleased.
If it weren’t for Kei she wouldn’t know what she was doing. Unlike her, he was at the top of his game.
He growled low and the two closest wolves tucked their tails between their paws and stuck their bellies to the ground in total submission and fear. Layan’s annoyance was really something to be reckoned with.
For her part the approaching woman who had just appeared didn’t seem to be fazed in the least.
-Where the hell were you?- he said through gritted teeth.
Priscilla came up the stairs with her usual smile and stopped in front of him.
-How nice, you were waiting for me,- she pretended to be excited.
Layan didn’t hide his discomfort and growled at her again.
-I told you not to growl at me wolf. I’ve already had a hard enough day without having to put up with you,- she shook her hair out of her front hair that had fallen over her shoulder.
-Priscilla, who the hell gave you permission to leave the castle?
Her smile faded.
-I’m not your prisoner Layan.
-But this is my pack.- She rose all her inches as alpha.
-Alpha- Kei behind him warned him as he was noticing the atmosphere was getting well thick and even if he was the first voice in the pack he was dealing with she was the daughter of someone with his same status.
Layan just looked at him over his shoulder.
-Priscilla tilted her head, -Are you going to rub it in my face that this is your pack,- her voice became colder than usual.
No, it wasn’t just her voice. A shiver ran down the wolf’s spine and he could have sworn it was… cold.
-Go to your room,- he ordered, showing him his place, -You can’t go out as you please, especially not without telling me.
-Why? You’re afraid I’ll do something to someone in your beloved pack. Do you also think I’m a monster like all of them- her words made Layan tense up. She let out a low snort and walked past him, -I may have strange powers and they may be quite strong but I’m not a freak or a beast–.
The she-wolf walked past him as Layan stood there taking a deep breath. She was definitely driving him crazy. But to his nose came the smell of blood from her body.
-Priscilla- he called out to her turning around but she was already climbing the stairs calmly shaking her hips from side to side without paying any attention to him- Priscilla-
His shout echoed and she looked at him over her shoulder.
-You didn’t want me to go to my room. I’m on my way. I see you’re very keen to punish me, so I’ll save you the trouble,- she said, almost sounding like cynicism was coming out of her mouth. She continued on her way.
Layan followed her with a frown to the door of her room. Inside, she began to pull her blouse off over her head.
-Why do you smell blood?- she demanded against the door frame, trying not to focus on the woman’s body as she left the garment on the floor.
Priscilla sighed.
-Besides rubbing it in my face that it’s your pack, you’re accusing me of hurting someone. You should be a little more creative Layan. We’ve been through this before.
He pursed his lips and that’s when he noticed that when she sat down and took off her pants the part of her knees was stained with drops of blood.
-Those wounds-
-Don’t seem very interested in the subject- she smiled at him- But I tell you that the puppy that pushed me and hurt me because of him is in perfect condition- she put her hands on her hips- Happy?
He growled at her. She raised an eyebrow.
At that moment someone came through the door.
-Alpha, we need you to attend to something,- the guard at her back bowed his head.
Layan clicked her tongue without taking her eyes off the wounds on the she-wolf’s knees. They would heal quickly with the speed of a normal wolf.
-I’ll close the door. We haven’t finished talking yet and you have a lot to learn,- he said, grabbing the door handle.
Priscilla sat still in place but her eyes became sharp.
-Are you going to lock me in?- this time she was the one who growled.
Layan looked her up and down.
-Until I sit down and talk to you properly. You’re a puppy who needs control. I can’t have you running all over the herd and not knowing what you’re doing.
-ayan,- Priscilla called out to him but the door had already been closed and she heard the lock being put on. Yes, he had locked her in… again. At least this time it wasn’t in an ice cavern.
She dropped her back onto the couch. He was starting to get tired of it all and he had only just begun. No one liked to be treated that way even if they couldn’t feel anything. He ran his fingers over the fabric of his pants.
-Ah, it stained and ripped,- she clicked her tongue in her voice. She didn’t have so many clothes that she could afford to throw them away, especially since the clothes she had were mostly her mother’s, which her father had kept for her- I’ll have to sew it up– she said.
But her fingers did not move away from the fabric. Rather they had stiffened and above them a light coating of ice was moving in the direction of her arm with great rapidity. When he raised his head the room was already filling with a dense cold mist.
Was he awakening another of his powers?
