Layan clicked his tongue in annoyance. This puppy was sapping his patience. He gritted his teeth uncomfortably and what made him most uncomfortable was that Priscilla didn’t even flinch at his obvious annoyance. But he wouldn’t give in so easily, he wasn’t the alpha of his pack and leader of the council for the sake of it, he threw Pris’ shirt back at her and it fell over his neck and he walked past her.
-You do it- his steps were firm and began to walk away from her.
Priscilla grabbed the garment that was slightly stained with her own blood. The wolf in the end had not yielded but she did not even flinch. She knew Layan was a tough wolf. Much better, it was more fun that way, even if she didn’t feel any fun or happiness in doing it. It was just… entertaining.
He turned away as he carefully ran the cloth over where the blood should be and carefully wiped away whatever was there. It hurt when he touched the bite. He was aware of Layan’s ability to heal wounds through his saliva but apparently it only worked if he wanted it to, because his broken skin was healing slowly, with the speed of a normal wolf.
-Hey Layan- she called him walking several steps away from him. The wolf wasn’t expecting her so she had to follow him, but considering that his legs were longer and her body had just thawed like that the distance was getting bigger by the moment- Alpha- she called him a little more serious but received no answer- Damn- she gritted her teeth.
The she-wolf kept walking at her own pace. She wasn’t going to hurry or anything like that. And she knew the reason why. After a while he stopped to wait for her. If he left her there and she got lost it would create quite a problem he would have to deal with.
They walked for quite a while until the roof of a castle came into view in the distance. Priscilla thought it was quite extravagant but didn’t comment. Her father’s mansion may not have been as grand but it was no slouch either.
-Alpha,- he heard two gray-furred wolves approaching and bowed their large heads once in front of him.
-All quiet around here,- Layan asked with his hands in his pockets to the guards on duty that day.
-Yes alpha,- answered one of them, -There has been no movement at all.
-He was lying,- answered Priscilla standing behind him. She was still carrying Layan’s shirt folded in her arms. At her words, the two animals and the alpha looked at her with a glint in their eyes- She is lying- she repeated, raising her eyebrows at Layan.
The alpha narrowed his eyes and turned to Layan who was lifted by the neck, his body was hanging slightly shaking.
-You know I don’t like being lied to- Layan’s voice came out calm unlike the reaction he’d had. The other wolf had backed away and crouched his body almost in a ball.
-You don’t need to be afraid- Priscilla commented without looking at him- You haven’t done anything wrong, for the moment.
The wolf raised his ears slightly wondering who the hell this she-wolf was but somehow she was as intimidating as her alpha. Especially since the pressure she was putting on his brain made his brain hurt.
It had only taken Priscilla a few seconds to know that the wolf in Layan’s hands was lying. Even if she had pushed the voices out of her head to the deepest recesses of her mind she could still hear them as an annoying murmur and intensify them when she wanted to as was the case. Reading minds had never amused him until now. The wolf’s nervous words echoed in his mind over and over again.
-What did you do?- Layan questioned the wolf he almost strangled.
-Alpha, I don’t know what she’s talking about. She’s lying. I didn’t do anything. I was just standing guard.
Layan didn’t know at that point what to believe and let go of the wolf who fell to the ground with a thud.
-Get back- he growled at them and both wolves quickly ran off. He looked over his shoulder at Priscilla. He didn’t like to doubt those around him. They were the same wolves from his pack, who had been by his side for a long time and knew what he was capable of if they betrayed him.
Priscilla walked towards him with her face completely serious.
-He raped a she-wolf while on guard duty, not long ago- she blurted out as if that was the most normal thing passing by his side. His arm was gripped tightly, so tightly that he frowned a little.
-What did you say?- Layan blinked a little confused.
She turned to him calmly looking first at the hard grip and then focusing on the wolf’s face.
-That he raped a she-wolf from your pack before you arrived, his niece if you want me to be more specific. She is tied up in a tree in a place where red willows grow.
-Why do you know all that,- Layan asked through gritted teeth, Priscilla tilted her head and smiled slightly, taking a step towards him.
-The voices in my head told me.
The voices. The voices again. Of course, Asule’s ability
-Could you read his mind alone?- he was a little shocked. The last time the subject had been brought up Priscilla could hear thousands of voices in her head and barely define what each one was saying but now….
She nodded. Layan dropped the arm that held the she-wolf’s and took a step back. He couldn’t believe it.
-Do you know what I’m thinking right now?
He saw her deny and wondered.
-Why not?- her voice came out low, she was toying with him.
-I won’t tell you,- she challenged him and turned around to be grabbed again.
-Layan- Priscilla looked over her shoulder at him- I don’t mind you touching me but if every time you do it you hurt me my father will be upset and I’m sure you wouldn’t want my mother to do it too-.
Layan’s expression became hard.
-Priscilla, are you jealous of your mother?
The she-wolf narrowed her eyes.
-To be jealous of someone you have to love them, don’t you. I’m sorry but I don’t know what kind of feeling that is and I don’t remember if I ever felt it– The alpha stiffened at that.
The alpha stiffened at her words and they fell on him like a block.
-And why do you always bring Nebraska into this? Besides if you don’t love me isn’t it easier to leave me once and for all-
Pris raised the edges of her lips.
-Do you think I don’t know what you like about her- she raised an eyebrow as she noticed the hesitation of his hand on her- See, just mentioning it makes you tremble. But don’t worry I won’t leave your side even if I don’t feel that which is love. You are mine Layan, I won’t give you up so easily. Be aware of that.
With a nimble movement he released his grip and started to walk leaving the wolf with his mouth almost open. He couldn’t even speak processing her words. Him liking Nebraska. It was hard to be reminded of it by someone else after he had buried his feelings and given up on them.
Omega was someone special to him. Very special. But he didn’t want to look at her with those eyes that someone in love would. She already had stability and a family and he knew she was happy at Hades’ side. He would be unable to take away some of what he had only given up to be her friend, her best friend even if it hurt a little. After a while it was easier but Priscilla had opened the wound again.
Especially since she was Nebraska’s daughter.
Priscilla kept walking guided by her sense of smell. She only had to follow Layan’s trail to where the smell was much more intense and in passing where the castle should be. And it wasn’t long before the great building appeared in front of her. Soon more than five wolves were surrounding her.
She blinked for a moment and then the wolves felt so much pressure on them that they let out a pitiful whimper and drew back, retracting their claws and hiding their fangs.
-Layan, who had been delayed in his thoughts, quickly appeared. He sensed that something was going to happen. He made sure the security at his mansion was triple when he went out, mostly for keeping his sister safe. Though now he might have to do a staff check.
Priscilla removed the pressure from the wolves which didn’t hurt them but did put them in a submissive position.
-She is coming with me, she will stay here for a while, let the others know and tell my beta I want to see him, there is someone I need you to look for and someone else to disappear- the alpha explained and the wolves moved away vanishing as soon as possible- You can’t do that- Layan reprimanded her.
-You know you start to annoy me every time you tell me what to do, Layan. And right now I’m not in the mood- she pushed her hair behind one of her ears- Next time I’ll let you attack me so you can heal me, since this time you didn’t- she ran her fingers over the wound on her neck and then the one on her lips.
Layan didn’t bring up the subject that she couldn’t feel anything so she shouldn’t even be upset, let alone in the mood, but that was touching on a rather sensitive subject. Though apparently Priscilla didn’t mind touching on such topics as she had before.
-There are rules in this pack. You will learn them first before anything else- she tried to put aside the subject of him not healing her but her gaze was focused on the deep mark he had left on the she-wolf’s neck just as Leila, her sister had done when she came running. The smile she wore faded completely.
